Rasmussen Obama index at -13
posted at 12:15 pm on October 21, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
Well, the decision to go to war with Fox News has really paid dividends for this White House. According to the latest Rasmussen presidential tracking poll, Barack Obama now has a passion index of -13, with only 27% of respondents strongly approving of his performance and 40% strongly disapproving. Overall, Obama has a -6 approval deficit:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 27% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -13. That’s just a point above the lowest level ever recorded for this President. It’s also the sixth straight day in negative double digits, matching the longest such streak …
Overall, 47% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. Fifty-three percent (53%) disapprove.
This polling follows that of other independent pollsters such as Pew and Harris showing eroding support for both Obama and his agenda. Skewed polling, such as that of the WaPo/ABC and NYT/CBS surveys, hint at similar erosion even while wildly oversampling Democrats. Rasmussen uses likely voters, a much more predictive method, which should have Democrats very, very worried about pursuing their radical agenda.
Time for a prime-time press conference! Or another speech to the joint session of Congress, perhaps. If Obama really wanted to reverse this trend, he might want to think about giving Fox’s Chris Wallace an exclusive interview. However, he can’t do that while his press secretary continues to sound like the Baghdad Bob of media relations.
In fact, given Robert Gibbs’ public declarations, the only way the White House could now reverse itself would be to push Gibbs overboard. How long will it take before Gibbs decides to spend more time with his family?

It’s too bad this is happening to gibbs. Everyone needs a job, but Gibbsy getting thrown under the bus like this is just terrible. I’m not just painting with a wide brush here and speculating on the thousands of employees of the white house, I’m just offering my opinion on what happens at 0900 every morning at the white house.

About a year too late but it gives me hope for the next couple elections.
I often quip that the 2008 election is the election where democracy failed the republic but more and more I see it as an absolute failure of our media. They’re supposed to be watchdogs, not lapdogs. Such disinformation as presented by the media to help Obama must’ve made even the most successful KGB agent blush with envy.

Maybe the voters saw his partisan speech he gave recently and realized that Obama is only trying to be president to the left in American rather than to America as a whole.
When is Obama going to stop campaigning and start acting like our President?
-13 is what he deserves for all his partisanship.

Political Epitaph Time:
Former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs was seen today getting turned away at the White House gate. The Secret Service could be overheard saying, “I’m sorry, sir, your pass has been revoked.” Mr. Gibbs was then seen with his head hung low, dragging his briefcase back to the car.
It is unclear what line of work Mr. Gibbs will enter now that he is, again, unemployed. However, as he entered his car he took a call and said, “Why, yes Mr. Immelt…!!”

VegasRick on October 21, 2009 at 12:26 PM
LOL. More than 27% would classify The Precedent as an outright traitor, deserving of a trial and subsequent punishment. And that 27% that strongly approves of the Traitor-in-Chief consists of nothing but America-haters who have no business being allowed to stay in our country – we allow them to stay here at our own peril, as we are all seeing. They are the leeches of humanity who serve no purpose to whatever society they are lucky enough to be in and which is unlucky enough to be infected with them. These people (including The Precedent) don’t deserve the benefits of civilized society, since they do nothing but work to destroy everything around them.

If I’m looking at this right, it looks like Bush had approval ratings only 3% higher than his disapproval ratings at the time of the 2004 election, and won by approximately the same percentage. Obama’ ratings are only down by 6% about a year into his first term. If the economy starts to turn around, Obama’s approval ratings will go up.

Their vote last November was a vote to specifically punish the US. White guilt drove most of the vote for The Precedent, which most whites viewed as the ultimate act of penance, designed to sacrifice the US as a way of alleviating them of their illusory guilt.
What they have found, though, is that illusory guilt is not amenable to satisfaction by penance of any sort. That’s the beauty of illusory guilt. But the scarifice of the US continues on as planned, because that was what was chosen on Nov 4th.
For centuries into the future, if not millenia, this will live as a cautionary tale to all:
Affirmative action kills.

I said it would nearly impossible to go below 28%…was I wrong.
Here is how I figured…14% of the vote for him was the black vote…they will follow him no matter what. Then you have 10% crazy people, the people who think we didn’t land on the moon, or that Elvis is till alive, they are just nuts. Then you have 4 or 5% of the white vote that will never vote against a black because of black guilt, throw in a bunch of professors, and you have a solid 28% (I thought) who would never turn their back on him.
I was wrong…shockingly wrong…

Noone has mentioned that if GIbbs leaves (less than a year into his admin.) then it makes Obama look even worse than he does now. The message that it continues to build on is that Obama doesn’t know what he’s doing (surprise, I know) and that he’s all show and no go. I’m beginning to believe that Obama is simply there to appear before the cameras and that Rahm, Axelrod and Gibbs (Jarrett too) are really running the show. Nothing else seems to explain the scatterbrain tactics coming from the WH. Either that or Obama couldn’t lead his way out of a wet paper bag and the poor performance at lower levels is a direct result of his incompetency at the top.

For at least two years I’ve been saying that 27% of the nation’s voters is the entire far-left wing of the Democrat Party….and they “Strongly Approve”, but they actually DON’T. They’re mad as Hell because the fraud in the White House doesn’t have the nads to invoke their entire political ideology for fear of losing what ground he has with the centrist Democrats – the Clinton crowd. Without the Centrists…and now without the Independents…what’s a Socialist to do??
Answer: Nothing, and hope the diversionary war with FOX, along with a few other tactics to garner positive headlines, will make the negatives go away.

I would agree with you but the difference b/w conventional wisdom and now is that Obama bet the farm (and about $1TT) on the stimulus pkg. right out of the gate. Put simply, he’s spent too much money for a mere garden variety turnaround. IOW’s, he’d better see UE at around 5% come 1/2Q 2012 or he’s sunk given the “cost” of said “recovery”. I haven’t seen anything that predicts that UE will be anywhere near there by 2011. Either Obama will somehow find a way to cruise to victory in 2012 or he’ll get crushed b/c I don’t think that his policies are designed for much middle ground.
