Breaking: New ACORN video from Philadelphia
posted at 12:45 pm on October 21, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
Surprise! ACORN and its defenders, including the media, have tried to argue that the organization was not totally corrupt because James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles got tossed out of its Philadelphia office. Media Matters even went so far as to air an interview with ACORN office director Katherine Conway-Russell that asserted that she refused to help them, called the cops, and threw them out. Big Government has now released some of the video of that visit — and it appears that a lot of media outlets will have some retractions to write this afternoon:
Big Government will air the full, unedited video and audio streams later today or tomorrow, in order to demonstrate the poor performance of the media in this story. Bertha Lewis and ACORN will be shown to have lied, and outlets like the Washington Post and Philadelphia Inquirer will have to scrape the egg off of their faces for accepting their word at face value.
At Western CPAC, Andrew Breitbart described himself as a “merry prankster” in the media. He’s certainly got reason for merriment today.

But the “FOX NEWS ISN”T A NEWS ORGANIZATION LOLZ!@!” Administration has it’s priorities straight.
Troops are fighting and dying while Obama has parties in the White House and campaigns for a government health care takeover that polls suggest the public doesn’t want from him.
Priorities.
When unemployment falls to Bush levels, you can talk about priorities again. Until then, you’ve got no room to lecture anybody on priorities.
Sorry.

They’re asking themselves at ACORN, MM, Phila Daily News, CNN, etc… WWMD? What Would Mao Do?

Video is back up. Be aware that ACORN workers’ voices are edited out. Disconcerting, but you can easily follow the gist from Hannah and James’s dialogue. And watch the body language of the ACORN worker: does that look like someone who’s about to throw them out and/or call the police? I don’t think so.
More here.

Well….it looks like Giles and O’Keefe have the goods on ACORN Phila. This certainly doesn’t look like they were tossed out or asked to leave. It seems like all the other locations that didn’t have a problem with tax fraud, human trafficking, and enabling prostitution. I look forward to seeing what the Phila. media companies have to say in response.

And all the liberal outlets will get patted on the head and given the Official Obama Seal Of Creditability.
…And then Fox will report THAT story, and their ratings will double again.

Question about the earlier Philly police report: Wouldn’t they have O’Keefe’s name because the cops asked or required him to give it to them when they arrived? Just wondering — the thought of conspiracy seems a bit premature — not that Philly has any corruption, of course.
I presume Breitbart’s timing was based on the funding ban in Congress, about to expire. But it is perfect that it coincides with Obama’s war on Fox News. The traditional media either cross the WH or get exposed as sycophantic hypocrites. Breitbart is a genius.

Afghanistan isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Perhaps a scared President seeing his approval ratings take another hit will act more quickly on Afghanistan to divert attention from his domestic woes.

I have a friend whose kid has been being picked on at school for years.
He put his kid into Jujitsu classes a few months ago.
Last month the bully grabbed the kid from behind and wound up on the floor. The kid could have broken his arm if he had wanted to.
This video reminds me of that.

Am I missing something?
cpaulus on October 21, 2009 at 1:30 PM
The editing of the audio is deliberate. There is more to come.
txag92 on October 21, 2009 at 1:30 PM
Is it possible that in the full video that James never identifies himself as James O’Keefe? In any of the vids we’ve seen have they ever given their names or their full names? If not, then that police report is fraudulent. Plus, the police report specifically cites them for a disturbance, but the vid clearly shows there was no disturbance. Could they be exposing the PPD as complicit as well?
UnderstandingisPower on October 21, 2009 at 1:31 PM

cmsinaz on October 21, 2009 at 1:31 PM
pretty sure they used Aliases.
which would go to show how stupid/idiotic ACORN and the Philly PD are with their corruption
jp on October 21, 2009 at 1:32 PM
That’s the problem. Obama has been able put off announcing his decision on Afghanistan until after the NJ and VA elections. If he announced more troops now, both Republicans would win easily, so he is waiting until after the elections. No one in the press is even asking the WH about Afghanistan.
huckleberryfriend on October 21, 2009 at 1:32 PM
Yes, the state run media has been AB’s real target all along, with ACORN being fantastic collateral damage.
And, how sweet the timing of this new video (and maybe more) on the heels of the White House attacks on Fox, which the SRM are delighting in.
What did Andrew know and when did he know it?
Mega kudos to him.

He had to have given them some name, he made an appointment for a follow-up. And I don’t know why he’d bother to make up a name. It’s not like he was a celebrity back then.
notropis on October 21, 2009 at 1:33 PM
That would require doing something other than voting present on the strategy that was in place when he took office. I honestly don’t think he has it in him to make a decision about Afghanistan because he is either going to anger the far left base for adding troops or he is going to be accused of surrendering by those on the right. Sadly the troops are in the middle of the filthy lying coward’s concern over his political future. They are dying while the rat bastard traitor dithers and they deserve better from their CINC.
highhopes on October 21, 2009 at 1:33 PM
FYI. I believe incident reports are only filed after the fact. If O’Keefe had been at the location when ‘the police’ arrived, the reporting officer would have had to decide whether an offense was being committed and whether anyone would be charged.
Of course, during the interview, O’Keefe could have given his real name, maybe…? Anyone who is more familiar with incident reports, etc., please chime in.

Dire Straits on October 21, 2009 at 1:40 PM
Interesting, according to Fox, they asked ACORN for comment about this recent video and ACORN showed them that they filed a police report “proving” O’Keefe was verbally disruptive. Contrary to what the tape shows…
Which could spell even more hot water for ACORN, as they have just filed a false police report.
Enoxo on October 21, 2009 at 1:40 PM
Because you can legally video tape a conversation without consent, but you need consent to have the audio.
Once Acorn starts complaining they will offer to release the audio, Acorn will have to agree or back down — either way they will be caught but it will allow this to come to the forefront again in a week or two… slow burn – roast-em to perfection.
darcee on October 21, 2009 at 1:41 PM
His Moonbat Base will go bonkers and turn against him. Sort of a timing thing I think.
Dire Straits on October 21, 2009 at 1:42 PM
The tapes really told the story, but a specific follow-up with proof against the defense is, apparently, necessary in today’s environment.
Seems ridiculous to me, but then, watching how lies gain legs these days has ended my own sense of how commonsense rules.

When are they going to personally attack Briebart? Dig into his past: unpaid child support? Not a plumber? Unpaid taxes?

ACORN totally skewed the primaries in the Democratic Party. The worst states were Nevada and Texas.
The stories were appalling and drove me out of the party entirely.
Loads of real people will not soon forget the experience.
AnninCA on October 21, 2009 at 1:50 PM
Watching the Dems protect ACORN is very similar to watching Rangel continue to slip through in spite of documented tax abuses.
It completely makes regular people in this country wonder about the politicians. The issue we have today is that nobody trusts any of them, regardless of party.
The corruption factor is just too ridiculous to buy into.

This is pure sweetness. The Philly incident was the only hope that ACORN and it’s beloved fans (Media Matters, CNN, and MSNBC) had as ammo against O’Keefe and Her Hotness, Ms. Giles.
As he gazes upon the media giants with a grin, Brietbart can now utter that precious phrase of “Checkmate!”

ACORN really burned Obama, but I have no sympathy, frankly. What they pulled in Texas is truly a story for the future. They organized to make sure that the elderly and the Hispanic were blocked out of caucuses.
The tactics were nowhere close to legal. They counted on the party not following up.
I’ll not vote for Dianne Feinstein, although she’s moderate, because she promised to follow up, cut off complaints from within the Democratic party regulars, and she failed to follow through.
This expose underscores what many of us who supported Hillary were saying.

Lie and lie.
She claimed in interviews that they did not dress in a way that would suggest she was a prostitute… and the meeting did not end when they asked about pimping young girls.

Moderate what?
R Square on October 21, 2009 at 2:04 PM
Well most of the media is nothing but an arm of the democratic party so it is fitting that when the democrats are shown to be ignorant and corrupt, their allies in the MSM go right down the drain with them.
Baxter Greene on October 21, 2009 at 2:05 PM
Dianne Feinstein is definitely moderate, guys. She’s got a track record on National Security issues that is far more akin to McCain than Obama.
She’s nowhere CLOSE to Boxer.
Heck, she’s not even for public option.

Using Obamalogic, Breitbart is not a real news organization and therefore the real media outlets will be ethically compelled to ignore this unreal story, documented by video tape, and audio.

Feinstein also took out cardcheck of EFCA before she’d back it.
Seriously, she’s very moderate.
Now, she’s not stupid. Immigration is a huge issue in CA, so she’s not about to back no-reform on that issue.
But on major issues today? She’s nearly a blue-dawg.

I sent a note to Congressman Darrell Issa this morning telling him to check out Breitbart’s new video and to defund all of ACORN.
KCinLV on October 21, 2009 at 2:14 PM
So since we now know that Bertha Lewis lied about both New York and Philly, does this confirm that NONE of the ACORN offices Giles and O’Keefe visited turned them away?
If so, then this is not a few bad seeds in an otherwise upstanding organization. This represents the culture of ACORN.
Doughboy on October 21, 2009 at 2:14 PM
I got my e-mail back that she didn’t support public option, Terry.
So maybe there’s a version out there she likes.
I’ll check it out. Frankly, I figured it was a version that transferred the pricetag to states.
CA cannot afford it.
AnninCA on October 21, 2009 at 2:14 PM
I agree that Feinstein is closer to center than Boxer (that’s not saying much), but she is not a moderate (hawkish maybe).
omnipotent on October 21, 2009 at 2:16 PM
There are credible allegations of ACORN attempting to systematically steal elections across the country — in short, to suborn the very foundation of our nation wherein power is vested in officials by the people, through the election process. Even the most extreme leftwing vilification of Haliburton does not go nearly that far. The two are not comparable in any sense.
For someone who keeps claiming ACORN is not an important story, you sure spend a lot of time talking about it.
