Audio: Gingrich makes the case for Scozzafava

posted at 6:35 pm on October 21, 2009 by Allahpundit

From today’s Andrew Wilkow show, via Wilkow’s producer Nick Rizzuto. As noted at the Corner, it’s true that Scozzafava is moderately conservative by the standards of New York Republicans — but measured against congressional Republicans, she’s way left. Newt polishes her credentials a bit here but does admit that she’s not the candidate he would have nominated. In which case … why’s he sticking with her? She’s embarrassing herself on a daily basis and Hoffman stands a decent chance to win if he can get some wind from big-name conservatives in his sails. Why puff Scozzafava up instead of making the switch? Even if she’s “dramatically better than the Democrat,” is she dramatically better than Hoffman? It’s a three-way race now, Newt. Embrace the possibilities.

Exit question: Thad McCotter’s supporting Scozzafava too? What?

Unfortunately, most of the beltway Republicans care more for the party than they do the philosophy. All they want is to be the ones in charge again. Doing something with that power is secondary to having it.

I’m infuriated when my team plays prevent defense, because it never works. I’m disgusted to no end by prevent politics which has the same basic flaw plus the added kicker of being intellectually dishonest.

Newt…
Jumped the shark.
Nuked the fridge.
Screwed the pooch.
In short, lost all credibility. Buh-bye, now. Thanks for flying RINO Air.

Newt is pathetic. He can say all he wants about building a coalition, but what is this coalition centered around? Oh yeah, nothing. Conservative principles are intuitively correct, simply articulate conservatism and the “coalition” builds itself. Sorry Newt but you died to me when you did those awful “wecansolveit” global warming climate change ads.

Newt, Newt, Newt. If you’re going to do that to us, please just STFU and go away.

Newt doesn’t want a third party candidate winning a race. He probably thinks this will carry over to a national race and he knows we can’t defeat the Won with a 3rd party. This needs to start at a lower level and build up to the national level. Newt is just another example of the higher ups not listening to us. The people in NY23 should decide by ballot who represents them, not some washed up politician from another state.

Yes, yes. Please keep marginalizing yourself AND support Huckabee again! That way I can be assured he doesn’t become the sickening candidate for President in 3 years for the GOP.

The GOP has been taken over. Time to jump ship and move on.
