No one really cares about the size of the deficits. Never have, never will until the financial system collapses and not a moment before.

Where are the Repub politicians educating the electorate and outlining a path away from fiscal Armageddon--no where to be found. Hint--don't hold your breath waiting.

It's every man for himself now. The great unwashed have voted themselves the Treasury.

Thank goodness Americans don’t care, or there’d be some real changes happening. Maybe that’s because less than half of Americans are actually going to pay for it all.

JohnJ on October 20, 2009 at 2:38 PM

Nope. All Americans are going to pay for it. What we are dealing with is unsustainable and the top half will stop working, investing and paying. I paid no taxes last year and will not pay taxes this year or next. I am retired and living on SS and investment earnings. Since Obama won I have changed my investments to avoid paying taxes. With the huge losses of last year to work with and carried forward it isn't hard to do. When the top half do not pay the bottom half will suck air or go to work. Chances are they will suck air for a while but hunger hurts. Elections have consequences and the Dems and their supporters have jumped the shark.

$1.4 trillion would buy 140 gigawatts of solar power generation installed at retail, a 1.4Kw system on each of 100 million homes. The average new nuclear reactor is in the the 1 gigawatt range, so it would be the equivalent of building 140 1 gigawatt nuclear reactors-only no nuclear waste, and no big power company holding the keys and handing out the bills, no smart grid needed.

Between proven energy reserves and solar, our energy needs become internally satisfied.

Our government never learns. Never.

Not sustainable. By this time next year Europe will have pulled out of the dollar. Unemployment will be at 17% with actual at 30% and gas will be $6.60 a gal. And unless the current spending trends are halted very soon, the middle-class will entirely disappear by 2016.

Actually, it hasn't all been spent yet. Much of it could be stopped. Additionally, the 'Crats keep adding pork to other bills as well and alot of 'Pubs go right along. Clearly, this can't last much longer. Latin America is starting to look pretty good!

Where is the outrage from the left. They maintained a continuous barrage on the Bush Adm. for the deficit. Now not a whimper. They are a disingenuous gang.

Silly. They hated Bush because he was hording all the newly printed money for him and his rich friends.
BO will be printing money overtime to make up for what Bush did. You do know that we only have to print money right? You are not one of those crazy people that think money isn't just printed are you?

What would the federal deficit buy?

The answer to this question is, of course, the same as the answer to the question: "what do we have to stop buying to balance the budget."

My son isn’t 5 weeks old, and he’s already broke! Thanks, Mr. President.

Doesn't that put his conception somewhere around the time the filthy lying coward took office? He's an Obama baby. He was broke from well before birth and will be paying for this past nine months for his entire life. Cradle to grave tyranny.

Where is the outrage from the left. They maintained a continuous barrage on the Bush Adm. for the deficit. Now not a whimper. They are a disingenuous gang.

Sure you can but in a nation as affluent as ours it is a moral obligation to ensure that no American has to worry about portability of unicorns or the evil private rainbow industry.

The video needs more examples. How many dinners at a resturant would this buy? What kind of car am I giving up, each year? Could it pay my rent/mortgage? Could everyone have highspeed internet, a large screen TV, and a new computer, each year? Bring the examples down to waht people spend ther own money on, or would like to spend their money on if they had it.
