In fairness to Allahpundit, it ain’t easy being fair. I think AP all too often gives way too much credit to the left, and way too little credit to people on the right. And I would certainly consider that to be a fair criticism.

Regardless, while I don’t always (often?) agree with AP’s take, I appreciate that he’s just trying to get the story right. Even if if does sometimes wind up left.

Bush did this sort of thing too, mind you, but I don’t recall him doing it in the midst of a vendetta he was running against an opposition media outlet, never mind with one of the most vocal critics of that outlet in American media in attendance.

Since we’re being fair, Bush never had a vendetta against any political rivals or opposition media outlets, even though they were pretty much all opposition.

But Bush, for all his faults, was never as partisan as Obama, the supposedly post-partisan president. Strike that, being too non-partisan was in fact one of Bush’s biggest faults.

Once again, Obama pretends to be what Bush really was, while blaming every problem on Bush and claiming he’s setting a wonderful new tone.

Really? I get the impression that you regard your readers like the “smelly tourists” that visit DC in the summer.

Whether the briefing was about attacking Fox or if it was just a regular briefing to make those in attendance feel ’special’, the interesting question is how did Fox get the story? Did they sniff it out on their own, or did one of the news agencies allowed to be part of the inner sanctum leak the information to someone at Fox for use on “Special Report”?

If the latter is true, that makes this whole story even more fun. While the big media is reliably liberal, those with White House access are also pretty cliquish and snobbish about who has access — remember the grumbling earlier this year when Obama started calling on liberal bloggers at his news conferences? So it’s entirely possible that someone in the media who normally supports Obama came into this briefing, saw Olbermann and Maddow there and had a “WTF?” moment, and was angered that the White House considered Keith and Rachel to be on their level.

If nothing else, given the paranoia the White House has already shown combined with their pathological hatred of Fox, they’re scouring the invitee list to figure out who might have ratted out Obama’s secret meeting.
