Andrea Mitchell: I wouldn’t characterize George Soros as far left

posted at 7:41 pm on October 20, 2009 by Allahpundit

To cleanse the palate, via Weasel Zippers, your scoop of the day from an official, White-House-approved “real” news network. If you can figure out why Soros donating to Clinton’s group — or to the ASPCA or any other charity, for that matter — would exclude him from the fraternal order of hard leftists, let me know in the comments. I’m stumped. Rush actually cut an ad for the Humane Society this year. Is he no longer “far right” in MSNBC’s estimation?

Ironic but true: While this whitewash was going on at MSNBC, MoveOn was busy preparing a blast e-mail urging Democrats to boycott the very, very biased Fox News.

Thanks, and have a nice day.

Hitler’s humanity was often cited by the way he doted on dogs and little children. Nevermind he was killing millions of Jews, those closest to him only saw the guy whose heart was touched by child’s play.

Perhaps this is the same thing. Mitchell is so hard core left herself, she only sees the philanthropist and not the monster.

Poor Andrea. O’Reilly made a laughingstock of her when he asked how many folks at her network were conservatives.

Andrea: what do you mean by conservative?
O’Reilly: folks with traditional values.
Andrea: Uh, uhm, er, we don’t discuss those things.

John the Libertarian on October 20, 2009 at 7:53 PM

Is she interviewing Hatch or debating him?

Hard to tell.

It’s not often you see a reporter interviewing someone and then “correcting” the interviewed person’s opinions.

Misstatement of facts? Okay. Opinions? No.

Mitchell’s been, for me, a very good reporter over the years.

But her work on MSNBC these past 3-4 years has really been sloppy in terms of objectivity.

SteveMG on October 20, 2009 at 7:59 PM

Perhaps Andrea could try Googling Soros and come up with at least one site that documents Soros’ Leftism.

This is right out of their stylebook. Prior to the August Congressional recess there was one vapid “reporter” who actually interrupted the administration’s spokeswhore to interject- “We need to get this bill passed now!”

Fortunately, for her, she works at MSNBC. Otherwise, we’d be asking “Andrea who?”. She’s as foolish and irrelevant as her bosom-buddy, Olberdork, who has just about run out his string of entertaining commentary.

BottomLine5 on October 20, 2009 at 9:50 PM

Not really. As Rush Limbaugh always says, there is no hall of fame for moderates.

Germany after WWI was placed at a disadvantage. The Treaty of Versaille created an economic crisis which opened the door for the conditions that brought Hitler to power. He became the populist against the crushing reality of the status quo. He became a national leader by convincing people that he was their only hope. Which is precisely the strategy Obama is using in 2009.

Obama needs the press on his side to execute parts of his agenda.

I do not agree or disagree with Mitchell. Soros is amoral, hence, apolitical. He will sell out anyone, right, center or left in his all consuming greed. If there are a few billion to be made, he would sell the soul of his wife and firstborn child. When offered the deal by Satan he replied, “What’s the catch”?

Soros is an admitted Nazi collaborator, the god-son of the Nazi overlord of Hungary. Soros ADMITTED to pointing out jews in Hungary to go to death camps and has NO guilt about it.

From the new Indiana Jones movie has come the term “Nuking the Fridge”. It has come to mean what you are looking for, a term that is even worse (in the same idea and context) than “Jumping the Shark”.

Theophile on October 21, 2009 at 1:33 AM

The Far Left doesn’t exist and McCarthy was a fool who was just mean and making stuff up. The Nazi/Fascist right wing neo-cons exist for sure, though. But not in huge numbers. Maybe only a few thousand judging by the D.C. tea party numbers (sarc).

At least the word “Marxist” is popping up more on FNC…maybe one of these days they’ll get the backbone to introduce the term “Communist” in labeling these Bolshevik thugs for what they are. Still, much better than the “secular progressive” and “Liberal” nonsense of the not-so-distant past.

Hard to believe that Alan Greenspan, who sat around Ayn Rand’s coffee table, married … that.

And it’s pretty clear to me that Soros’ game here is to replace markets with more manipulable institutions and frameworks wherever he can. Look at how he made (some of!) his money — one-sided bets against the ERM. $1 billion in a day purely because of the artificiality and irrationality of that nonmarket mechanism. So ultimately Soros is only interested in a framework that he can outwit.
