Video: Glenn Beck goes off on Anita Dunn for 17 minutes

posted at 7:37 pm on October 19, 2009 by Allahpundit

No, just kidding: It’s more like 12 minutes of replying to her lame spin on Friday that she was joking about Mao with another five about health care and guns tacked on to the end. Frankly, if I were her, I would have used that red phone — which is now being monitored by a guy in a Mao outfit, please note — to call and set him straight about what she really meant in that clip where she talked about controlling the media. (The same sort of control that Palin, wisely, is now trying to exert.) Beck seizes on the part where she says the campaign wanted reporters to cover what Obama said instead of “why” he said it, but in context I think all she means is that the press was forever obsessing about campaign tactics and strategy to the detriment of its coverage of policy. In other words, instead of reporting on the substance of his health-care plan, they’d focus on horse-race minutiae — e.g., “Why did Obama attack Hillary this way today?” That was a common complaint during the campaign, frankly; we made it here at HA too, even before the primaries had begun. I think she’s getting a bad rap on what she said/meant there.

As for him wondering why no one in the White House ever seems to praise a founding father, The One’s been known to mention Lincoln now and again, hasn’t he? Not strictly a founding father, granted, but the guy’s on the currency. Close enough.

In addition to killing off millions of his countrymen, molesting young girls and impoverishing a nation, Mao also had horrendous personal hygiene habits. The man stank and refused to so much as brush his rotting teeth. He was truly an all-around piece of shit.

Just the type of authentic folk hero that an Alinskyite could really admire.

Anita Dunn trying to — on the next day after Beck exposed that tape of her June speech — frame her Mao referencing as “a joke” sent my very low, disgusted understanding of who she is even lower.

That she can’t own her own declarations like that reveals and cements her as a genuine coward. I think she’s a disgusting, utterly informational unreliable liar as also nutty Communist. And, yes, I just called Anita Dunn a Communist. I also think her boss is one.

lol @ close enough. Good one. It is not just being a great man that matters, but the ideas and time in which the man lived.

Becoming President after the US was created and fighting a civil war to keep it together, while a massive task, is not in the same league as creating the US with the full knowledge of what that meant to one\’s self, one\’s family, and one\’s property.

Successfully waging a war against the worlds strongest empire / super power in defense of God inspired ideals, on which a nation unlike anything ever seen before on Earth would be based, was nothing short of the greatest achievement in history.

From a few things I read on the internet about all of that associated with Mao, anyone criticising him about those wretched aspects is the problem: the Left says we’re not being “culturally sensitive” — that Mao’s rotten behaviors were ‘mere’ cultural differences than the West’s.

Awful. The Left can’t call something or someone evil enve when they are. Mao was evil.

From Bush’s farewell speech

President Thomas Jefferson once wrote, “I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past.” As I leave the house he occupied two centuries ago, I share that optimism. America is a young country, full of vitality, constantly growing and renewing itself. And even in the toughest times, we lift our eyes to the broad horizon ahead.

From his acceptance speech-2000

I believe the presidency, the final point of decision in the American government, was made for great purposes. It is the office of Lincoln’s conscience, of Teddy Roosevelt’s energy, of Harry Truman’s integrity and Ronald Reagan’s optimism.

Open your eyes and ears dimbo.

Yesterday, we are told by liberals Fox News is not real news, but only trying to push a conservative point of view.

Today, a liberal by the name of Anita Dunn is claiming to be the brilliant strategist that controlled the media during the Obama campaign and that is being reported on by Fox News (and no one else?).

The irony…..

rockmom on October 19, 2009 at 8:10 PM

Even Axelrod couldn’t string together an intellectually cohesive denigration of Fox, referring to “other cable news stations” — note the word, “other”.

Axelrod’s intellect is vastly overrated. He’s what I’d call a greasy street guy and nothing more and Emanuel is not an improvement over that, except, perhaps, sans the grease.

The point being, you’re dully repeating their wonky declarations without any elevation of their grime. Axelrod’s idea of “news” is his astroturfing marketing biz. He’s actually been hyped (by the Left, TIME magazine, specifically) as being a master of “astroturfing”…

That means he makes things up and then uses other media to hype his fantasies: hyperbole on a formal note, lies on the street level.

Just wondering, allah, how many friends do you have who work in Constitutional law who never talk about the Framers? How many lawyer friends do you know who never look to the founding fathers for points about America?

Lastly, how many times have Che, Chavez, Mao, Castro, … been mentioned by people in this despicable administration? How many American administrations would ever actually support a leftist coup attempt (as done by Zelaya)? I don’t even think Carter would be left enough or dumb enough to do that while in office, and it would be close to impossible to find a bunch of people to populate an administration that would support such lunacy.

Allahpundit

Q During the campaign, you were compared with many leaders — with Abraham Lincoln, with Jack Kennedy, with Mr. Roosevelt. I don’t like comparisons. Obama is Obama. But who are your heroes?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, you just named some of them. Abraham Lincoln is probably the President who I find most compelling because not only did he deal with probably the biggest crisis in American history, the Civil War, but he also did so in a way that was full of understanding of humanity. And his willingness to, I think, understand other people, from slaves to slave owners, and try to hold people together even when we were in the midst of war I think is extraordinary.

Internationally — Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi. I always am interested in leaders who are able to bring about transformative change without resort to violence, but rather changing people’s minds and people’s hearts.

Two attempted dips into their flooded basement, but neither attempt is close enough to pull up any water, and the pail ends up empty at the top of the stairs. She is not getting a bad rap, she said what she meant about controlling the media, no need to provide her cover.

Obama only mentioned Lincoln because Axelrod suggested he figure out a good Lincoln quote to bring it all together. It is more likely Obama knows little about Lincoln the man; he certainly has done nothing in his administration that has resembled Lincoln. It was said because it sounded good, like the blocks he checked along the way to build a resume without any actual accomplishments. In its very short life, this administration has not demonstrated it deserves the benefit of the doubt when it comes to its words and their meanings; quite the opposite. Why give them any cover?

Ronnie on October 19, 2009 at 8:50 PM

Dunn is doing an incredibly lame job spinning what she said in that graduation speech. The delivery was not played for laughs by her. The students were laughing at the incongruity of placing Mao and Mother Theresa together as philosophic ideals.

She followed up that remark with detail about what Mao had done to achieve his philosophical aims in defeating Chiang Kai Shek (sp?) as if that defeat were admirable.

Her message to those impressionable high school students was to go against the grain and question conventional wisdom. Yet she holds up as a hero a despot who destroyed any who stood in his way and who demanded lemming-like obeisance to his will, all in the name of the goals of some nebulous collective.

While the clip may have been describing the technique of “controlling the message” during the campaign, this administration has continued to follow that model. Emanuel has the direct hotline to selected “news” sources, many of whom were party operatives at one time or another. These supposed journalists are merely stenographers recording the controlled message. No questions or follow up are permitted. If any WH reporter dares to ask an impertinent question or ask for clarification, the Gibbs’ response is condescension.

And speaking of condescension, the clip of ObaMAO in SF is hubristically grating. The punk is the WH has never grown up and will never accept responsibility for any of his choices or actions. His Peter Pan admirers with the big bucks at that dinner may sneer with a sense of superiority, but they are not responsible adults. They are perpetual, privileged children playing dress up.

Sic ‘em, Glenn. You have their number. Like you, we will continue to ask questions.

Lincoln is oft-invoked when people need to recreate some long-past fog of racial and economic injustices as they perceive them to be and need them to continue in present day (like, as do Emanuel, Axelrod, Jeremiah Wright, Michelle Obama, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Southern Poverty Law Center, etc.).

So, just roll one’s eyes and go, “Linnncoln…because” and the usable available gullible will go, “yeah, you OWE us…”

What a moronic statement. I have helped to organize (2) Tea Parties here in my little area of Montana, and I can assure you that this administration wasn’t the only party taking hits. We are sick and tired of big brother weaving their way into our homes. Period, end of story. The Tea Party’s and other civil protests are not a Republican thing, as witnessed by the many union workers (miners) who showed up at our last Tea Party protest and signed up asking what they could do to help.

Wake up man, government is not the answer, and calling civil protesters racist is only bringing about bad blood between whites and blacks once again. Americans should not be stupid enough to allow government and the media to keep us divided with phony calls of racism. In America, we are proud of the fact that we are a nation of many ethnic backgrounds; a nation made up of people from all walks of life.

That they’re even TRYING to defame FOX News is libelous. It’s a conglommerate engaging in the old mob-tactic: attack your competition’s ability to earn a living.

It’s why crooks lie, cheat and steal and mostly spread gossip about their enemies. And America is the enemy to the Democrats (FOX has the highest viewer count than any other broadcast network, while the others are wasting away because many viewers can no longer stand them).

Considering the fact that Beck is the only one actually doing journalism, I’d say that the credibility issue lies elsewhere.

jimmy2shoes on October 19, 2009 at 9:06 PM

Actually their news department which is different than the nightly talk shows does a great job of journalism. This really narrow thinking that Hannity, Beck, and O’Reilly are Fox News is really simplistic thinking.

She’s a tick, she’ll just “relocate” but continue to suck from some other location. She’s one of those infectious suckers among the Left who will just jump to another rump.

Lourdes on October 19, 2009 at 9:11 PM

Truly, I’m not sure what your gripe with Beck is all about. He has managed to rock the Obama WH on its heels more than once by using his own single voice and a remarkably sharp wit. Of course he’s not Ben Franklin, but then again, I didn’t meet Franklin so maybe he did have a bent sense of humor and an equally cynical outlook.

Today I watched as he poked, prodded and annoyed the Obama administration WHILE teaching us some important facts. While you spend time taking cheap shots, he is moving the ball forward in his own quirky style. The space and time you took to say what you said, you could have mentioned this from Worldnetdaily via Gatewaypundit:

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?pageId=109450#

The article talks about the move to put federally funded clinics in the schools in a way to allow even organizations such as Planned Parenthood access.

Now that is something you should talk about. Let Glenn be Glenn. At some point, you start sounding petty.

It’s sad to watch people like you who, are actually old enough to turn on a computer and access the internet, and have such a damaged psyche that you come to a forum (where you are completely 180 degrees out of agreement) to engage in childish comments that have no chance of ever being taken seriously.

Grow up.

csdeven on October 19, 2009 at 9:16 PM

and they’ve got to convince the gullible that Obama is the control freak.

Afrolib on October 19, 2009 at 8:40 PM

One doesn’t have to be gullible at all, just a tad bit smart, to realize that Obama is a passive aggressive.

Michelle O. is an aggressive aggressive. Both are mad; he just controls it better.

AP, I think it’s time you start blogging for WhiteHouse.gov. Your defense “here and here” will make your guy “the One” welcome you back home with open arms

julian on October 19, 2009 at 9:21 PM

AP:

I think she’s (Dunn is) getting a bad rap on what she said/meant there.

Why is it that nearly everyone in the ObaMao administration has to have his or her actual words clarified. (Is it Gibbs’s role to be a translator?) Doesn’t their speech reflect what they mean in their speech? Why would a communications director be so careless with her own words?

onlineanalyst on October 19, 2009 at 9:22 PM

I watched the tape of Dunn again. What’s with the constant puckering and smacking of her lips? Isn’t there a medical term for that?

Why do so many leftoids turn out to be badly flawed people who seek cures & redemption in political action?

Janos Hunyadi on October 19, 2009 at 9:25 PM

Yes, but Beck’s point is that the White House looks for its heroes to other countries, not to great Americans of the past. Not true.

Allahpundit on October 19, 2009 at 7:50 PM

so now your hatred for Beck has made you degenerate to the level of your friends in the msm ala Rush by fabricating a position that Beck never took. Mr AP, either substantiate the above claim or apologise for your deceit. I assure you that the only reason why anybody reads your blog is because you blog here at Micelle’s site. I dare you to pull a David Frum and see if you get any traffic. Please take up this challenge and see if you don’t go grow hungry.

A lot of you people on here need to take a deep breath and learn to think critically once in a while.

DaveS on October 19, 2009 at 9:30 PM

The bigger story is that no other network or paper is covering the Dunn/Mao story.

They all look like utter fools or are in total agreement with her, and Obama, philosophically. This makes them even bigger stooges/whores than FOX.

When they suffocate from Obama’s viscid, whitish fluid, in addition to economic ruin, we’ll have the last laugh.

What if he believes what he said? Why could you not make an informed, rational counterargument? In this case, all you need to do is provide an exhaustive list of what you considered to be hard news on Fox News.

But no… you’d rather be a knee-jerk partisan who calls someone names because they dare to say something that doesn’t toe the partisan/ideological line.

You have no business telling people to “grow up”, until you learn to use your mind and discuss things in an adult way.

No disagreement here, but may I point out that several stories concerning the Obama administration were reported on by Fox’s newsroom after they were brought to light by Beck. After that the other guys had to be dragged kicking and screaming to the stories, and then only when they could no longer ignore them.

Allahpundit has jumped the shark with this one. I saw the whole video and she is an acolyte of Mao.

Second, Lincoln and Obama are very, very different. One, Lincoln could write clearly and with succinctness, Obama cannot. Lincoln was honest. Obama is a total liar. Third, Lincoln spent his days during the war in the telegram room with the generals, Obama came up with 25 minutes at most to discuss military policy with his most importang general.

Lincoln enjoyed real debates. Obama is sending his henchman to kill Foxnews (which is really, not very conservative) because he does not want any questioning if his foolish and stupid policies

Michelle, how much longer are you going to keep Allahpundit here. Get someone that has some idea of real intellectual dialogue, please
