Poll: What was the Obamateurism of the Week?

posted at 8:05 am on October 18, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

It’s Sunday, which means it’s time for Hot Air readers to take a position on the Obamateurism of the Week — although don’t worry about it too much.  If your choice becomes inconvenient, you can always take another position in front of another audience later.   It’s not as if we’ll treat you as an enemy of war or something, or use your endorsement of a position you haven’t actually taken.  I’d go into some detail for next week’s poll, but as you all know, that’s still pretty far away.

Previous “winners”:

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

Illustrations by Chris Muir of Day by Day. Be sure to read the adventures of Sam, Zed, Damon, and Jan every day!

Obama showed his true character, and it’s a weak one, by attacking those who criticize him and/or point out his failings. If he does become a tyrant as many fear, he’s going to make Hitler and Stalin look like amateurs.

Of course, based on the way Obama wages war, Fox News should expect his surrender in a week. I think he already surrendered to the lib bloggers.

Conservatives fight foreign enemies. Leftwingers search for domestic enemies to persecute. It has always played that way out in history.

The left hates unjust wars but has no problem with internal pograms. Hence their defense of Saddam and Iran and others.

William Amos on October 18, 2009 at 8:36 AM

And as proof I offer the fact that democrats love to tout their “investigations” like Iran Contra and the current CIA investigation to find “abuses of power”

They are political witch hunts disguised as investigations. Conservatives dont use the power of government to investigate abuses of left wing groups when they are in power (See ACORN).

I hope Fox News continues to emphasize that, in all its news items where it has been denied access to White House staffers and cabinet officials, that this group of liars has failed in its claim to be the most transparent administration “evah.”

I knew the Fox news battle would get the lions share of the votes, but his flip-flop on gay marriage is a tool we can use in 2012 to prove he is an opportunist liar. Hope and Change my ass….the GOP candidate (and the third party candidates) need to saddle Obama with a new slogan.
I suggest……

“Dope and Blame”

He was entirely ignorant of how politics played out in the real world and when his Pollyanna policies failed, he reverted back to blaming Boooooosh.

You want proof? Here it is. First from New Orleans and then from San Francisco. All within hours of each event.

Epic poliy fail:

In recent weeks, Obama has faced criticism both from liberals who want him to do more to advance causes such as gay rights, and conservatives who accuse him of taking too long to decide whether to send more U.S. troops to Afghanistan.

Typical blaming of Booooosh:

He insisted that he and his Democratic allies in Congress were “busy with a mop cleaning up somebody else’s mess,” alluding to the litany of pressing problems he inherited from his Republican predecessor George W. Bush.

csdeven on October 18, 2009 at 9:09 AM

If Obama is so great, why hasn’t he finished yet? Those who can, do. Those who can’t, gripe.

Quite a stark contrast, isn’t it?

War on FOX

To all you libs (like Michael Moore on Hannity) Jesus might go to war over (actually an extension of looking for) WMDs after seeing innocent people fry but He certainly wouldn’t lose it over a cable TV channel reporting that He might not be God. I do, in fact, recall a story about His patiently showing His wounds to a skeptic.

So I said that I thought LGF might look less hypocritical if it targetted something other than conservative sites. And poof, I was gone. Apparently none of you have considered that Obama is employing a clever “rope a dope” strategy. By abandoning the Iranian democracy movement, he has galvanized them. They are now so devoid of hope that the US will offer any thin reed of help, that they are finally getting their sh*t together and suicide bombing the IRG. Ditto Israel: the Israelis are now clear that they must take matters into their own hands wrt Iran. In Venezuela look for the underground anti-Chavista movement to blossom into a full-fledged counter-revolution. Same in Burma, Cuba, and Sudan (or is the THE Sudan–I can never keep that straight?). In Afghanistan, our dithering is bound to empower the Taliban which is, in turn, bound to galvanize…hmmm, the warlords? Jeez, I’m not sure about the Afghanistan deal since there is nothing remotely like a freedom movement in that 7th century outpost.

No, this president has deployed brilliant political jujitsu to use our opponent’s strength against them. Once it becomes clear that the US will do nothing to retard the tyrannies of the world, freedom movements everywhere will rise up and…be slaughtered.

Oh well. It’s all good until the war comes home again, right? And hopefully that won’t be until after election day 2012.

Transparency on unimportant things like nuclear weapons defense and offense capabilities, but no transparency on Health Care (sic) legislation to take over 1/6 of the US economy. betsyz on October 18, 2009 at 2:10 PM

I voted for the WOF (War On Fox). It’s extremely uncanny that the White House is more concerned about propping up Obama’s image than they are about governing. It’s as if any criticism, no matter how minor, cannot be left unchallenged, while his glaring weaknesses are not even addressed. Maybe it’s a carryover from Bush 43; he got blasted everyday single day by the media and political opponents and didn’t really respond, and his job approval rating plummeted. Seeing this as a mistake, Obama is taking on everything, but his numbers are still tanking. I bet that confuses him to no end.

Attacking people on his own side of the issues is even more head-scratch worthy. Illustrating how he and his minions will lash out at anyone who doesn’t believe that he is doing things “just right”. Maybe a new nickname for Obama should be Barrielocks. Those who lean right think him to be pushing too hard, those on the left feel he’s being too soft and he’s trying to make enemies of both.

We’re just a few more videos of schoolchildren singing songs of praise to Obama from him violating the “establishment of religion” part of the First Amendment.

Left Coast Right Mind on October 18, 2009 at 2:21 PM

Instead of winning a war against terrorists, he starts a war against the media AND the first amendment. What a total moron.

And he has to wonder why our military enlistment is dropping, and extremists are on the rise wanting to kill his sorry ass and wipe out his liberal fascist sock puppets in the houses?

This guy has gotten far too much credit for his intellect. Clearly his intellect was borrowed and he is now running at a deficit.

I’m saying Bob Dole. This is a real transparent Dear Liar lie.

Reagan was cut from the same cloth as our founding fathers. He sought no praise for himself. His only goal was to protect America and he would accept no accolades for himself because he understood he was her servant, not her savior.

This is not a direct quote but Reagan said something to the effect that there is no limit to what you can accomplish if you don’t care who gets the credit.
Only a supremely confident leader would think or say that. It is a foreign concept to teh Won.

Why are there SOOOO many pictures of him with his nose in the air?

xax on October 18, 2009 at 4:10 PM

We all are pretty much on the same page today I voted with the majority.

Hey Obama Administration, you want some cheese with that whine :)

His nose-in-the-air poses irritate the crap out of me more than evil-eye stances. Never have I seen a president look so arrogant.

I hate looking at any pictures of The One, but this one (with his nose in the air) really galls me.

Liam…Yep. Reagan was cut from the same cloth as our founding fathers. He sought no praise for himself. His only goal was to protect America and he would accept no accolades for himself because he understood he was her servant, not her savior.

Thread winner (IMHO)

I voted for “Obama claims Bob Dole’s support, Dole says stop making claim,” because I thought it was the funniest and demonstrates how Barry can be so detached from the reality that not everybody worships him, let alone agrees with him.

I’m most disturbed by “Obama declares war — on liberal bloggers and Fox News.” This is Barry’s arrogance at work, attempting to force a network to comply with his views and give it bad press for not complying.

The “Obama changes positions on gay marriage,” demonstrates that Barry is willing to say or do anything to maintain power.

And his “That’s pretty far away” comment shows how utterly clueless Barry is about anything that is not Barry.

Can I coin the term Fox-tro-turf?

Mangy Scot on October 18, 2009 at 6:18 PM

I’m conflicted. You had me at “War on Fox” but then I starting thinking…”At least he’s willing to war on someone.”

Ah well, War on Fox gets my vote. War on lib bloggers was just a cherry on top.

It’s amazing that we have so many “good” choices each week.

Meremortal on October 18, 2009 at 7:04 PM

I wanted to vote for claiming support from Dole and Frist, and both Dole and Frist correcting the record. But nothing can compare to actually attacking a major news organization and trying to demonize them as \”not really news.\” The left may eat it up, but no one else will. Only Obama could overreach so badly as to think he can destroy Fox News with name calling. Not complaining, though. If not for his constant overreaching, he\’d be a very dangerous president.

ThereGoesTheNeighborhood on October 18, 2009 at 7:58 PM

Weakness is a war on Fox News.
