Video: Rick Sanchez, David Shuster retract phony Limbaugh slavery quote

posted at 6:30 pm on October 16, 2009 by Allahpundit

Actually, only Sanchez retracts it and even he’s content to say that CNN’s simply been unable to verify it, which kinda sorta leaves it up to the viewer to decide whether Rush said it or not. Still, watch these two as a study in contrast. Sanchez reproaches himself, admits they shouldn’t have reported it, and apologizes. Shuster’s take? “So, just to clarify.”

Funny how both of these networks found a quote that happened to be useful in bludgeoning a prominent conservative too good to check. I wonder when was the last time they got the same fact wrong when reporting a political story. Can’t happen too often, can it? Must be Limbaugh’s dumb luck. Click the image to watch.

If I recall correctly Rush had a few positive things
to say about Sanchez about a year ago. Sanchez when
into his hate mode in just after that with the crap he
pulled this week and some other nonsense starting around
election time. Complete koolaid makeover.

Shuster is just a pu$$y not worthy of comment.

Sure wish I proofed that one first. : )

Texyank on October 16, 2009 at 9:58 PM

Umm, seriously, this is a straight forward lawsuit of absolute malice. As in, “reckless disregard for the truth”. If he couldn’t be bothered to verify b4 gleefully running w/it, and Rush didn’t get the team b/c of it and many others, than it is clearly a “damages” issue. SUE, RUSH, SUE!

So both Sanchez and Shuster retract. That means 3 heard it!

Scrunt.

Coronagold on October 16, 2009 at 10:11 PM

I’m surprised no comments on Rush linking the wiki entries to a law firm in NY this morning…

Now that Sir, is a very good idea. A New League and perhaps a new party.

Please, ElRushbo, sue…put up a link, I’d contribute just to eat popcorn and watch them squirm. Plus, you could give it to the charity of your choice.

Video: Rick Sanchez, David Shuster retract phony Limbaugh slavery quote

Just another brick in the wall of irrelevancy the MSM is building for itself.

SUE, RUSH, SUE!

I get the impression Rush wants to take the moral high road to allow his attack dogs (fans) to do his bidding. He has many loyal listeners and friends who are actively calling, writing, emailing, blogging, etc., about his story.

He doesn’t need the hassle and/or waste of money.

I had to see that twit Sanchez while I was having lunch at McDonalds today. ughh

Fortunately I can surf to hotair and ace’s and such on my phone to keep me from getting ill.

Did anyone notice how bloodshot Sanchez’s eye’s were?

Is he still drinking on the job?

DSchoen on October 17, 2009 at 5:05 AM

Equal Time! I demand that they circulate some questionable rumors about the left.

WOW CNN is sure honest. In CNNAMfix, this morning, some real genius wrote that the Porkulus job numbers had gaffes. But the gentleman who wrote it managed to avoid quoting the seven or eight thousand stories about how the Dems are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on temporary, part time jobs or that spending has been delayed while cronies or relatives of connected people are planning how to best carve up all that tasty pork.

Confession. I used to think that CNN was credible. Then I watched ole Rick once or twice.

So, just to clarify – we spread lies and rumors, and smeared someone, which led to him being dropped from the bid committee. So, we are responsible for spreading hate and lies, and his subsequent loss of the team. It is our fault.

sarainitaly on October 17, 2009 at 7:19 AM

Hasn’t CNN basically slipped from first place to fourth place over the years? Good. If I took over that network there would be a clean sweep and the first two faces I’d want to see in my office (with their keys) are Rick Sanchez and Anderson Cooper.

Marcus on October 17, 2009 at 8:45 AM

How about an open apology to Rush Limbaugh? A real one? It is no wonder CNN is getting creamed by Fox News.

duggersd on October 17, 2009 at 9:11 AM

How convenient that they didn’t retract/clarify until AFTER he was dropped from the bidding. They got what they wanted.

Huffpo, in 2006, (July 10, 2006), published all these bogus quotes by Jack Huberman.

Read more at: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jack-huberman/rush-limbaugh-is-still-sc_b_24724.html

Strange huffpo, couldn’t back up those claims and pulled them.

Anyone know if those quotes were pulled in 2006 or Oct. 2009?

Can’t help but notice that their “Comment” section on this post has “under maintenance” for the last 4 days.

Huffpo CYA?

Rush Limbaugh is STILL Screwing Up America

Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this post contained quotes attributed to Rush Limbaugh, which Limbaugh has since denied making. As is our policy when a fact in a blog post is called into question, we gave its author 24 hours to substantiate the quote. Since he has not been able to do so, the quotes have been deleted from the post.

This is the third Huffpost excerpt from my new book (Jack Huberman
