New ad: Why is the media afraid of Liz Cheney?

posted at 3:00 pm on October 16, 2009 by Allahpundit

The latest from Keep America Safe. You know, not every expression of political antipathy is motivated by anxiety. Sometimes dislike is just dislike.

But sometimes there really is a little fear mixed in.

Actually, as anyone who has met Ms. Cheney knows, she is a knowledgeable and serious advocate of a tough foreign policy that she believes needs to be articulated and fought for. One can disagree with her, but to date, the critics have not done this.

You can’t win with liberal supporters of a weak dovish foreign policy, especially if you are a woman. We’re familiar with their attacks on Sarah Palin, whom they accuse of being a know-nothing, uneducated, unprepared, right-wing partisan. Liz Cheney obviously knows her stuff, is prepared and educated, and certainly does not need to be brought up to speed. She has five children, still manages to function as a serious spokesman for a new foreign policy, and is good looking and charming.

Of course, their real fear is that before long, Liz Cheney will run for a major national office. What could be worse–an attractive, articulate female conservative with knowledge and guts, running for office. For the Dowds and Cottles of the world, this woman must be brought down.

The left’s spin, obviously, is that the name “Cheney” will be enough to discredit her positions on foreign policy. Really? Papa Bear seemed to do okay when he went head to head with The One over Gitmo and enhanced interrogation earlier this year. As for the ad itself, it’s fine although it does nothing to dispel the impression that the group will be mainly a vehicle for LC herself. Which might be for the best: Foreign policy is all about fear of enemy threats so ads on the subject are almost destined to be cartoonish and melodramatic. Would you rather watch La Liz chat to the camera or some hamfisted remake of the “Daisy” ad with da-da-dum music?

Oh, the fun I have baiting trolls! It’s so easy for me they should be ashamed of themselves!

I imagine Liz can do them so much better.

The popcorn is still on me, friends.

I always pictured a “troll” as a dork in his mother’s basement with his pants around his ankles.

Ever consider finishing up 6th grade?

simple343 on October 16, 2009 at 4:04 PM

When are you going to finish 3rd?

Yes, your words captivate. I imagine that there are dozens of shut-ins across ths great land that have shared their webcams with you. Slick.with.the.ladies.

simplesimon on October 16, 2009 at 6:21 PM

Of course there is the minor fact that 9/11 did happen on the Decider’s watch.

simple343 on October 16, 2009 at 5:18 PM

Only because the 9/11 team needed more time to train. bin Laden wanted it to happen on Clintoon’s watch. That was the motive for the attacks, his hatred of your hero. He is quoted as saying so himself.

That’s pajamas according to their leader Obama…even he has had it with them.
Get out of the pajamas and be productive…you gotta love it when a liberal like Obama recognizes how wrong those liberal bloggers are.

You remind me of that guy in Office Space who was sent to the basement and taken off the payroll, down below muttering to himself.
The election is over, you crazy liberal bloggers aren’t being paid anymore, but they are still in the Aunt’s basement blogging…the image cracks me up, then add the pajamas with little cowboys on them…perfect image.

Need to let him go for now. He’s gotta get ready for the big party. It’s ball-gag night at the club and he hasn’t done his nails yet.

I vote for Lynn Cheney……..Her books have been used to irritate many liberal families…..Her book about George Washington. When Washington Crossed the Delaware:A Wintertime Story for young Patriots..(on sale at Amazon for
6.78) is the most beautiful book. They all make great gifts…..The State one is great, the Patriotic Primer……

Anyway, add Lynn to the list of absolutely fabulous conservative women.

She should be Queen of America. Laura Bush sucks. Michelle sucks.

Okay, I’ll admit I’ve never seen a drunk race-fan, SS. But, I’d take a drunk race-fan over a back stabbing, America hating liberal POS any day of the week.

PS, while you’re out getting Momma that bottle of Mad Dog, don’t forget your Clearasil.

When there is no substance with which to debate, all that’s left is nitpicking at irrelevancies and an ignorance when having been baited into a trap that has made the attacker flit off into further irrelevance.

simplesimon on October 16, 2009 at 6:32 PM

Once again, proof that Liberal/Progressive/Democrat folks are stupid. Anyone with intelligence knows that it’s NASCAR, not Nascar. I reckon leftist dumbasses don’t know what an acronym is.

As far as inbreeding goes, it’s been proven that dysfunctional families (liberal single parent homes) have cornered the market on incest. Maybe SimplemindedSimon is practicing projection here.

Does Liz have the credentials to run for President? I need to look into it more but she seems to have at least as much experience as Obama or Palin and she freakin’ rocks in interviews.

Daemonocracy on October 16, 2009 at 7:09 PM

She is a nice woman who will get female votes and this scares the Dems. She scares them like Sarah does.

Duh!

Daemonocracy on October 16, 2009 at 7:09 PM

Her problem is that she is still a one-trick pony and only has experience in foreign policy.

What the country needs also and probably more importantly is a leader who will challenge the growth of government, stop it, and begin rolling it back and bringing more freedom to the people. Right now only Sarah can do that AND possibly be elected POTUS.

What Liz needs to do is BROADEN her knowledge of other issues such as energy, government, budget, economy, and social issues.

If she can do that, then she joins Sarah as the two threats to Obama getting a second term.

She needs political experience too. Sarah we know is already a talented retail politician.

To put it simply, as much as I love Liz Ceney, she doens’t have Palin’s charisma. THAT’S what terrifies the left about Palin, and has ever since last autumn.

I think what scares them is a Palin-Cheney-Kristol axis forming.

I would go anywhere, and pay anything to see Liz and Sarah together at a fundraiser or whatever. I would call in sick to work!!!! (Course that would be the easy part…)

Liz iz the future, embrace her.

Hey Simplesimom ,, since you are off topic on whose fault was 9-11, I will ask you a question that has never been answered since 2004. What was Kerrys solutions to Iraq??? He had plenty of complaints on that but never had a solution if he had become president. I was wondering in your wisdom if you recall what his plan was?

garydt on October 16, 2009 at 11:12 PM

simpleisomon, why do you make fun of Southerners and rural people on the way they talk. At least they don’t put w’s in words like coffee or talk,, Yanks always say cwafwee and twak. So let up on the racetrack business and other stereotypes you have and answer some questions.

Pro War, torture and death? Don’t we ‘little Eichmann’s’ have a right to TRY to defend ourselves?

These guys are more worried about their MSNBC paychecks. Except for the millions they are stashing while our govt props up their parent corps, they would be really hysterical.

P. S. Is Olberman ever going to ask why The One has taken so long to catch OBL? This whole national defense, counterrorism thing was so simple a couple of years ago…

IlikedAUH2O on October 17, 2009 at 7:11 AM

The answer is simple, Ms. Cheney is much easier on the eye and ear than Ogerman
