Video: Fox-bashing WH mouthpiece names Chairman Mao as her favorite philosopher

posted at 6:42 pm on October 15, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via Ace, a fun fact about Anita Dunn that oddly doesn’t appear in WaPo’s three-page profile of her today. Don’t bother pounding the table about firing her, though: She’s already on her way out, which is precisely why the White House’s gutless brain trust tasked her with being the attack dog against Fox.

Long a shunner of the spotlight, Dunn, who declined to comment for this article, would only sign on in April as an “interim” chief, with an end-of-the-year expiration date on her current tenure. But giving up nominal power in the White House allows Dunn to do the dirty work that ultimately assures her staying power inside the administration.

A source inside the White House, who was not authorized to speak about strategy meetings, said Dunn went out front against Fox first and foremost because it was her job, but also because it potentially gave the administration the opportunity to distance itself from the flap with the Roger Ailes-led news channel once she leaves the communications job.

Her response to the clip? She was joking, of course, playing off some old Lee Atwater bit. The audience laughs at the juxtaposition of Mao and Mother Teresa, but the point she draws from the chairman sure does seem serious. Anyone feeling like giving her the benefit of the doubt? Me neither.

If you listen carefully, you can actually hear the sound of the tongue licking at times. Now, I did count the sound even if I didn’t actually see the tongue come out. I don’t think that should disqualify my count, though, and I would argue that point if it was contested. If you can hear it you know it’s out there.

I posted earlier on that sound…thinking about it STILL makes me shiver and gag.

About the crying: Beck isn’t stone cold. He’s an emotional man. And there’s nothing wrong with that. He sees the legions of evil arrayed against this great nation and sometimes gets overwhelmed. Especially when it comes to the effect it will have on his family. I’m not holding Glenn Beck up to the standards of the emotionally distant action hero we all grew up with. Be glad, because most of us wouldn’t live up to it. To me it signifies Beck’s deep concern for his loved ones and his country. He has a big heart. How anyone can criticize that I’m not sure. We aren’t robots. And just as we will all have to face the dark times ahead in our own way, so too will our political voices. Because Beck handles it differently than Rush or Levin doesn’t lessen him in my eyes.

Her mouth was very dry. She may be a druggie or something.

Regarding the “laughter” from the audience? I don’t know about you guys, but it sounded to me like audible gasping… Anyone that could use Mao and Mother Theresa in the same breath and compare them as equals? Blasphemous, despicable and breathtaking.

Maybe the tongue thing was because she’s a serpent. Or something.

Incidentally, check out the site (http://www.hawaii.edu/powerkills/) of the world expert on democide (governments killing people). You will see R. J. Rummel’s latest estimate is that Mao killed nearly 77 million people. Some philosophy, huh?

“What is your name?” the Great Helmsman asked a young student as she pinned a Red Guard armband on him in front of the Gate of Heavenly Peace. “Song Binbin,” she responded enthusiastically. The name her parents chose meant “properly raised” and “polite,” qualities that Mao Zedong found unappealing. “Be violent!” he ordered the girl. A short time later she changed her first name to Yaowu, or “Be Violent.”

It was Aug. 18, 1966 and the 72-year-old Chinese leader had called male and female students to assemble on Beijing’s Square of Heavenly Peace to launch his Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution. Hundreds of thousands waved Mao’s little red book and cheered the old man.

Mao’s call to violence fell on willing ears among many young people. Thirteen days earlier Song, 19 at the time, was presumably present when the female students at her school, which was part of the Beijing Teachers University, killed their teacher, Bian Zhongyun. The girls brutally beat the 50-year-old woman to death using wooden sticks spiked with nails. On the day before the killing, members of the Red Guard had already maltreated the teacher, who was the party leader at the school — they suddenly viewed her as a “counter-revolutionary revisionist” who they believed had gambled away her life.
Bian went down in history as the first victim of the Cultural Revolution — the bloody mass movement Mao used to eliminate his enemies within the party. The teacher’s murder was followed by the killings of millions of Chinese people. The ten-year campaign destroyed entire families, irreplaceable cultural treasures and centuries-old traditions. In August 1966 alone, about 100 teachers were murdered by their own students in the western section of Beijing.

Well, Lee Atwater liked to play guitar and do rock songs, so when Dunn said she was playing off one of his old bits, she probably just got him mixed up with John Lennon:

And if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao/
You ain’t gonna make it with anyone, anyhow

—– Revolution (1968)

jon1979 on October 15, 2009 at 10:14 PM

Strange that Ms. Dunn couldn’t cite Ralph Waldo Emerson, whose “Self-Reliance” is a paean to finding your own path.

Bill Ayers himself has said that he embraced Mao’s version of communism over the Soviet model. That’s why I always refer to Obamao as ObaMAO.

Our own Chairman-in-Chief is on record admiring the Potemkin Village that was created when the Chinese hosted the Olympics. He was dazzled by the Chinese infrastructure.

President Obama promised that if his Economic Stimulus Plan was passed it would save jobs and stimulate the economy THIS YEAR. However, instead of a boom, we got a boomerang. The economy has done worse this year than the president projected it would do without passage of his plan.

So, who’s responsible for this recession? You claim it’s Bush. But Obama had an opportunity to reduce the recession’s depth and length. That hasn’t happened. It’s gotten worse. And that’s entirely Obama’s fault. And the longer it lasts, the more laughable it will sound to claim Bush made Obama’s Economic Boomerang.

Here’s something from Mao I’m sure we can all get behind.

Speech at the Moscow Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties (November 18, 1957).

I have said that all the reputedly powerful reactionaries are merely paper tigers. The reason is that they are divorced from the people. Look! Was not Hitler a paper tiger? Was Hitler not overthrown? I also said that the tsar of Russia, the emperor of China and Japanese imperialism were all paper tigers. As we know, they were all overthrown. U.S. imperialism has not yet been overthrown and it has the atom bomb. I believe it also will be overthrown. It, too, is a paper tiger.

I really hope this site doesn’t degenerate into the kind of hate-spewing nonsense that you see on so many of the Left-leaning blogs.

Anita Dunn should get everything that’s coming to her. Frankly, I think she’s vile. But according to the WaPo profile on her, she’s only 51, so that makes her too young to be a “hippie.”

The WaPo profile says she “specializes in rescue missions.” That’s hilariously ironic, because I don’t think we’ve heard the last about that video, and I think she just might need a rescue mission of her own.

Johan Klaus on October 16, 2009 at 12:02 AM

She was “joking” my ass. You can hear it in her voice, how deadly serious she is about what she is saying, and how much she believes in it as well. That was disgusting to hear her talking like that, with such respect, about such a despicable human being. That woman has some SERIOUS issues. Now I wish I could see what Beck had coming up next after that clip! Anyone that can enlighten me on it?

Highlar on October 16, 2009 at 12:08 AM

Mao was vile.

Mother Teresa’s public reputation is totally off from who she was.

She lived off the suffering of the dying. Penn & Teller cover this in their episode “Holier than Thou”.

Watch it and you’ll see why liberals do love her – she lived for others to suffer. Conservatives/libertarians/etc. only like her because of her good press – but after watching, you may begin to see that she’s was not about alleviating suffering, but rather wallowing in it.

Honestly? From a professional’s observational background, Anita had what we called “meth mouth.” That’s all there is to it. Dry mouth, sticky lips and darting tongue… definite meth mouth.

MsUnderestimated on October 16, 2009 at 12:33 AM

The part I found most interesting was the lead-up to the first clip where Beck is discussing the WaPo Style section placement of the story on Dunn and wonders who could have called the Post: “Gee, I wonder who the call? Think is was Rahm Emmanuel? (looks directly into camera) Nooo. Could it be Rahm Emmanuel? I don’t know Rahm. I’m going to have to check more of our sources, oh yeah.” Leaks at the Post or the WH to Glenn Beck?

Pull her hair back in a pony and remove the glasses. Oh my god! It’s Charles Johnson!

I don’t fault GB for getting emotional about things like this. He loves this country and only comes close to tears when he speaks of the future, and the future for his children.

How many of you ever thought there would be a day when the future for our children doesn’t look as promising as it was for us, our parents and our grandparents? It is truly sad.

He is a patriot and hangs it out there every single day. He doesn’t pull his punches. I respect him tremendously.

His emotion comes from frustration. He has been repeating the same things over and over to get people to wake the f*ck up!

It’s not going to take anything less than a blunt blow upside the American populace heads to get them to realize that this isn’t a joke anymore.

Thank God for Glenn Beck. History will show that he was a beacon of hope and truth in this current cesspool of corruption and filth.

How is this Commie still employed in the White House?
It’s already 4 in the morning here, plenty of time to throw her out.
Obama pretends NOT to be a Commie but employs Mao lovers?

Jeff from WI on October 16, 2009 at 5:15 AM

What idiot school would invite her to speak. It evidently was a Christian school with all the crosses. Wanna bet it was Catholic.

Jeff from WI on October 15, 2009 at 9:36 PM

If it was CAtholic, the cross would not be there. It would be a Crucifix.

My guess is that it is some liberal old mainline protestant denomination. I would guess episcopal.

And how many bedpans did Penn & Teller empty during all their years?

F*ck U 2 bud

I still have my private property and my vote (if I don’t lose the former to the Bush recession).

Bleeds Blue on October 15, 2009 at 10:31 PM

It’s all Obama’s now, baby.

ddrintn on October 15, 2009 at 10:38 PM

Yep. Unemployment under Obama has gotten WAY worse. The deficit his first year is WAY higher (x3+) than Bush. And, once the unprecedented liquidity and zero interest rates on loans from the Fed runs out, the stock market will down again.

Obama has been pouring gasoline on the fire and wondering why it is still burning and why it is starting to get out of control.

He and his kind of Alinskyites know nothing about how to get out of the way and let the economy grow.

They only know how to destroy things and then blame it on others (total Alinsky).

Funny thing is, the Right is now reading Alinsky too and is starting to community organize in large numbers.

“Mother” – The Police?

Sapwolf on October 16, 2009 at 6:55 AM

Anita Dunn’s profound misinterpretation of Mother Teresa’s message is incredibly self-serving.

Loxodonta on October 15, 2009 at 7:49 PM

Yep. They don’t understand that Christ calls us to be charitable. He does not say to enslave people and rob them, and siphon off a huge cut, let a little trickle down to destroy dignity and then trumpet how you are so charitable.

Pure s*it.

Sapwolf on October 16, 2009 at 7:00 AM

Did WaPo’s Style Section advise us that sticking out one’s tongue is now de rigueur among A list Washington circles?

A reality check for Libs:

Imagine Karl Rove saying that he admired Albert Schweitzer and Adolf Hitler.

What would your comment have been???

She’s a real live DEMON people. You know, from HELL. Spawn of Satan. A snake.

Jeff from WI on October 16, 2009 at 7:51 AM

Someone get this bitch a glass of water.

If you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain’t gonna make it with anyone anyhow

76United on October 16, 2009 at 8:55 AM

Well to look at the speech as a whole she was saying that people should live their lives as they see fit, I wish the Dems actually believed that!

jeffn21 on October 16, 2009 at 9:00 AM

Of course they are laughing, they are high school grads! They have no idea who Chairman Mao is. What do you think our leftie lib schools actually teach them anything about him or Mother Theresa either?

patriotparty1 on October 16, 2009 at 9:48 AM
