Quotes of the day
posted at 10:35 pm on October 15, 2009 by Allahpundit
“Beck appears to be building something. His television show audience is growing, despite a well-publicized boycott, and his radio show calls itself the third highest in the country. (Radio audience measurements can be fickle.) His newsletter has more than 750,000 subscribers. He’s authored three best-selling books. As the attention to Beck has increased — as Beck has become persona non grata among elites — who, let’s face it, also love to cover him as a phenomenon they can’t quite understand — Beck seems to enhanced his standing with his target audience.
Given that 2010 is an election year, it would be logical to assume that Beck is putting together a mass voter registration and mobilization project. It’s a tricky proposition…
Still, if Beck becomes part of the apparatus that fuses into one movement irritated Republicans and angry conservatives and fickle Ron Paul libertarians — he’s going to become a major electoral player in 2010.”

I find it odd that his crowds are still chanting ‘Yes we can’. But I suppose if you don’t really have any legislative accomplishments to speak of, and unemployment is rubbing against double digits it’s probably better to stick with simple slogans.

Why can’t some people just accept that some things are what they are and some people are who THEY are?
I’m WAY more radical than Beck, I believe it will take an overthrow of the Government to return this country to what our founders intended. I also would NEVER want to be involved with these smarmy scumbags in Washington, on BOTH sides of the aisles. I’d be just as likely to knock Lindsey Grahamnesty’s or Ron Paul’s teeth down their throats as I would a democrat.
Personally, 90% of Washington belongs at the end of a rope, why, because they ALL are criminals.
Trying to give Glenn Beck an ulterior motive is like trying to put tits on boar hog, it’s useless.

Dude, the election is over. You can quit campaigning now, really. No, really.
Oh, but wait, campaigning is the only thing you know how to do!!!!
Special K on October 15, 2009 at 10:47 PM
If that is what Beck does, it is going to make for one very interesting campaign season. What left of the hardcore left will go absolutely wacko. There is no telling what their response will be, probably try to shut down his show with new laws or fake charges of campaign contribution.
ray on October 15, 2009 at 10:49 PM
Huh? How does that logically follow?
Where do these people come from?
It is all quite simple, Beck sees what is being done, intentionally, to this nation and it scares him. he is trying to head it off at the pass, before it’s too late. That is what he is all about. Beck knows that this nation’s future can be destroyed before the 2010 elections ever come around and he is working to stop that. Why is it so difficult for people to understand this?
I would add that Beck probably believes that the second leg of the credit crisis is coming, that we have no way to buy time, as all the money is gone, and that that event will lead to very bad things, unless the White House is taken apart before they get there.

By Anna Fifield in Washington
The administration of US president Barack Obama is to announce the deployment of an additional 40,000 troops to Afghanistan, according to the Afghan ambassador to Washington, as the US steps up its efforts to contain the growing Taliban insurgency.
The move would be controversial in Washington, where some influential politicians, led by Joe Biden, the vice-president, are at odds with Generaleral Stanley McChrystal, the US’s senior commander in Kabul, who has publicly requested tens of thousands more troops.
“The indications are that the president will comply with the demands of Gen McChrystal and the number he is asking for is more than 40,000,” aid Jawad, the Afghan ambassador to Washington, said on Thursday, citing conversations with officials from the Pentagon and other government departments.

Every time Obama launches into that sing-song folksy church-pulpit cadence and tone…..I pray that soon, we can have a real President running the Executive Branch and soon…as I reach for a barf bag.
As for Beck…there is a danger that the GOP, and many Conservatives, and even the Ron Paulistas may misread Beck. He is a libertarian…and while the aforementiond players may be in agreement with Beck today for his growing stance against what Obama, et al., are doing to this Nation, they’d be wise to allow Beck to determine who he is comfortable with as we approach 2010.
Face it, and Beck has mentioned this time after time, the regular old GOP is part of the problem today…walking far afield of the most essential basics of Conservatism and focusing on personalities and a lot less focus on the fundamentals and adhering to what the GOP, at least nominally, pretends to be.
Beck will cut them off at the knees (or a bit higher) if they try to use Beck for their purposes.
We’ve a problem in America. It is indeed the Obama Administration and those who support him. Most thinking Americans are against Obama today…and have been for a long time. But, being an “agginner” is not the way to prevail in these times.
Folks like Beck have to continue to spell out in plain language what we are in favor of, first and foremost.
The GOP has a long long way to go to show us (well, at least me) what they are for. I already know what they seem to be against. It ain’t good enough.
I do not want another go-round dealing with Democrat-lite in 2010 and certainly not in 2012. That is how we lost in 2008…and why so many on the Right stayed home on election day.
Beck has his own course to chart, and the GOP will do itself no good at all trying to grasp at his coat tails next year or two year hence, seeking his aura as some sort of validation. He is acting as a Thomas Paine of our times. He will eviscerate any Republican wearing Dem clothing.
And once again as for Obama, I really miss having a real President in the White House. This crap has got to be stopped.

It’s going to be a collision of the following …
Tea Party Movement
Palinistas
Glen Beck
Liz Cheney
Ron Paul
Jim DeMint
Marco Rubio
Joe Wilson
Sean Hannity
In the background … Karl Rove will advise them and you’ll see Jeb Bush shed his Ayatollah robe and make a bashful move to stand with the Liberty movement.
Those are the people who will take the RNC “castle” next year and re-solidify the RNC’s core conservative principles. They’re going to way-lay their opponents – like Ayatollah John Cornyn and Mitch McConnell and they ARE going to put the slap down on Snowe and Collins once they’ve taken the castle.
Why would Liz Cheney join this group? Because these people, with the exception of perhaps Beck, believe in defending her father like she does. And there’s no one in the Ayatollah ranks that will.
The Ronulans? Yeah they are annoying … but intensity seeks out intensity so the Ronulans and the Tea Party folks are a natural match as long as they don’t stand around discussing foreign affairs. I’m sensing a rebirth in “Libertarianism” in the Tea Party Movement (that is why I call it the Liberty Movement now).
Mark my words – we’re going to see that RINO Lindsey Grahamnesty cry once again!

What disgusts me about this nightmare is one year ago we were doing, living, working, saving, and toughing it out on the best and worst of days. And then this freak rolls into town and tells people to start hoping. Take it easy and just hope. Were that many people at their breaking point that they actually decided to leave what they have known and succumb to this false god of hope and lay it all in his hands? And how long before they realize they are following him off a cliff? This euphoria he has created among the weaker of our society better start to wear off soon. We have some important voting to do.

It is unfortunate that, even putting aside The Precedent’s malevalent, and truly stupid, ideas and policies, having a real clown like him in the office does a serious amount of permanent damage to it. There are bonds of trust the public had with that office that are broken, and will remain so for a very long time (assuming I am wrong and the US stays together). The government only lives on the Full Faith and Credit people have in it. The Credit part is dangerously low, already …
progressoverpeace on October 15, 2009 at 11:13 PM
Constitutionally, it’s a state issue. Those who like to smoke can migrate to states that legalize it. There are more than a few that would. It used to be legal in Alaska to grow weed (something like a limit of four plants).

What Beck is building is an airtight, open-and-shut case, a la Perry Mason, for the American people to wake up and take back control over their own government from the progressive elites in both parties.
It is telling though that the White House’s only defense is “it’s only Fox News”. That has about the same shelf life as “it’s all Bush’s fault”.
As time passes, only the most dyed-in-the-wool sheeple will still see Obama as their savior. Everyone else will know him to be the conniving fraud that he is.

Points deducted for bringing in Hitler.
But, seriously, why would the Left find any resemblance to Hitler from watching Beck? soothingly or terrifyingly intoxicating. The Left today is well-founded on socialism on a national scale. Beck certainly has none of the several Hitlerian characteristics. Obama, on the other hand, has already demonstrated quite a few of those same characteristics since he announced his candidacy last year in Springfield.

That’s true, and if only it were just him. We have the most lunatic Congress that this nation has ever seen. It is the worst collection of morons, incompetents, misfits, criminals, and outright nuts that have ever been assembled and handed such levers of power and money. These are people that are PROUD that they rammed a useless payoff of $787 billion without anyone even getting a chance to read it. They gloat about that. It was one of The Precedent’s only “accomplishments” that anyone could name, and it was insane. We just put a person on the SCOTUS who thought that adjectives didn’t exist in Spanish … while she was at Princeton!! That is so wrong in so many diffferent ways. And now she’s going to empathize her way across the SCOTUS. Again, proudly so! And that wasn’t such a great Court before. They had just okayed the Chrysler bankruptcy and declared contracts to only be binding in an advisory sense.
You get my drift.
But The Precedent, all by himself, does do some serious damage to the office. It’s not that he’s skilled or anything. A 15 year old would have no problem running an aircraft carrier … or, as The Precedent would say, “aaaay aircraft carrier” … aground if you let him play captain while in very dangerous waters. It’s easy to destroy things, unfortunately. Ignorance is usually all that’s needed. The Precedent has tons of ignorance, but he’s looking to destroy things, on top of it.

After that it will be pushing a sort of 3rd party movement comprised of well know Republicans who can pull the party right, so not a third party but just a way to make the party the way it should be.

I wish you were right, but this is quickly going from bad to worse. ACORN has done severe damage in registering bogus voters for the dems, La Raza is piling on illegals to vote for O, and they are killing our economy by nationalizing banks and squeezing companies so they cannot survive without government help. Anyone who works for a living will be taxed into oblivion, our lifestyles are about to be dictated by ecoczars, our speech regulated by multicultural police inspectors, and our health decisions made for us by government panels of experts.
Every great civilization that has ever risen has also fallen. Greece, Rome, British Empire…now the US. Say it ain’t so.

I think he is waiting for some big crisis so can he declare Martial law and take over everything. His position will be that the crisis is so big and damaging that he has to act quickly and decisively. Where have we heard this before?

Does the crowd–or Obama–understand that “hard” means perhaps “No, you can’t”?
And I think Obama is equivocating on what he meant by “change is hard” because I think he meant that it is emotionally hard, but here he’s using as “its hard to do.” Well “hard to do” means that people can fail. If everybody could do it, it wouldn’t be “hard”.
Of course, I don’t think word analysis is something liberals do a lot of. It would kill the buzz.

Can anyone else feel the tracks starting to vibrate…like there’s a big, big train comin’ down the track…just far enough away that you know it’s there but you can’t quite see it yet?

Didn’t listen to the video (I just can’t take hearing his voice anymore).
But after reading the words my mind jumped to Denzel Washington’s character from Training Day. Specifically, the scene towards the end of the movie as he’s having the melt down when his plans go all to hell.
The bad cop character has no where to turn. He loses his supporters (people he’s used and abused in the projects). He’s loses the money he needs to give to Russian gangsters in the hopes they won’t kill him. He’s no longer going to have his power as a cop because his trainee is going to see to it he loses his badge. All he can do is stand in the middle of the crowd and explode into a delusional tirade about how it’s ok, no one can beat him, he’s going to come out on top.
It’s a lot like the O in campaign mode. The economy is still in shambles (and may end up a lot worse by the time he’s through). He’s losing the support of those who were once sympathetic to his cause as their eyes open to the truths of who he is, and his agenda. His legislative priorities are floundering miserably. He’s dithering about with the Afghan decision. He’s getting awards he knows are a joke. Yet, the O still goes out there as if he’s way on top. Nothing is hurting him. That he can’t be stopped.
Bad cop. Bad President. Both have an excess of hubris. Both experience an epic fall.
(Just for the record, I realize that the bad cop experiences a gruesome end being shot up by the gangsters, and in no way am I implying anything sinister toward the President.)

Kruschev really knew his Kennedy’s, it seems, except for one small detail: substitute “baby brother and nephews” for “grandchildren”

Yes, I read what you transcribed. I thank you as I could not bring myself to watch the video. It’s absolutely pathetic for the President to speak like that.

Those two missed the koolaid! That was great, they must’ve had a little ‘home schoolin’ on the Won!
Done. Again.

Glad you did the transcription. I couldn’t force myself to click the link. Just seeing a still image of him — or seeing those damnable ads (“Obama wants moms to go back to school!” or “Obama backs insurance regulation!” as seen right here on HA) — is enough to nauseate me.

Another great speech from “Mr. Substance”… Absolutely nothing was really said as the crowd ate up his presence.
Sick… (In a bad way)

Has this guy ever – I mean EVER – said anything that’s not a platitude? Everytime he opens his mouth, he blows the needle off the BS meter. And will someone please tell him that the campaign’s over? How long are the Obots going to listen to this crap and keep swallowing it like they’ve never heard it before? He keeps saying the same crap over and over and over again, and the idiots just keep right on cheering. When are they going to figure out that he doesn’t know his ass from his elbow about leading the country? Maybe the idiots in Sweeden thought they were awarding him the Nobel Speech Prize…

Mentally underdeveloped people believe that and those who wish to exploit them talk like that.
Here’s hoping this country still has more of the other types left.
