Quotes of the day

“Beck appears to be building something. His television show audience is growing, despite a well-publicized boycott, and his radio show calls itself the third highest in the country. (Radio audience measurements can be fickle.) His newsletter has more than 750,000 subscribers. He’s authored three best-selling books. As the attention to Beck has increased — as Beck has become persona non grata among elites — who, let’s face it, also love to cover him as a phenomenon they can’t quite understand — Beck seems to enhanced his standing with his target audience.

Given that 2010 is an election year, it would be logical to assume that Beck is putting together a mass voter registration and mobilization project. It’s a tricky proposition…

Still, if Beck becomes part of the apparatus that fuses into one movement irritated Republicans and angry conservatives and fickle Ron Paul libertarians — he’s going to become a major electoral player in 2010.”

fuses into one movement irritated Republicans and angry conservatives and fickle Ron Paul libertarians

It’s a vast conspiracy of irritated Republicans and angry conservatives and fickle Ron Paul libertarians… and I am one of them.

We have asked Mr. Steele for help on many fronts, and have been ignored.

Keemo on October 16, 2009 at 8:07 AM

Sorry to hear that but you’ve proved my point. The head of the RNC needs to be constantly out there building up the party everwhere including flyover country. I’m tired of seeing the GOP constantly waste all their efforts on “battleground” states where a GOP victory is iffy at best. The way to solid health is to build a national network able to respond well when one of the loony Senators from Maine decide that they want to vote like Democrats.

He’s a good guy, but why not abolish public education? He should watch some John Stossel. I understand that he’s trying to be pragmatic, but he should at least mention something about private schools.

The platform I’m looking for:

*listen to the generals on the field, send them what they need, or leave

*every foreign policy decision should be done in America’s interests

*eliminate the IRS, or, if the politicians in DC won’t go for that, we should increase the number of tax credits exponentially. Cut taxes for all Americans

*vote down 99% of every democratic party bill, because most of their proposals just favor special interests

*eliminate or reform entitlement programs. The extra money should go to the treasury’s general fund or to defense

*end the laws that ban private currency in the USA (this would make hyperinflation of the US dollar ineffective)

*buy assets overseas to compete with China.

*reform or eliminate ABC departments (and others) left over from the socialist deal of FDR

The USA began as an organization (similar to the UN) created by the States. Now look at it. Does this reveal what the UN will eventually look like? Especially when we’ve got Obama doing everything he can to bind us to the UN and the international community.

Ron Paul and his supporters scare me. They use nice sounding terms like “limited government” but their message is oftentime incoherent bordering on insane. Their tactics are oftentimes unAmerican. And they don’t have a clue about foreign affairs. The GOP is well advised to let the Democrats stake claim to this crowd.

rofl…just watched that clip up there…and I have to say…Mr. Obama made ABSOLUTELY NO FLIPPIN’ SENSE in what he was saying! ROFL!! It was actually kind of painful to watch. The only time he made ANY kind of coherent sense was when he was talking about HIMSELF. Any time he veered OFF of himself, he just lost all train of thought. lol… What an excellent way to start the day. lol

My ideal is ancap, but until then, I prefer a strong defense and freedom to do whatever I want to do. We need to abolish public education or else the state worship will never end. The statists use public education to indoctrinate kids to worship the almighty state and to hate voluntary social interaction (free market)

Libertarian Joseph on October 16, 2009 at 8:29 AM

I’m assuming that was Obama without the tele-prompter. Nothing but a string of boilerplate applause lines. And he looked highly uncomfortable. Laughable.

I don’t see how you got anything about a third party from what I said. I’m not really a fan of third parties. But I do see a difference between party labels and ideology. Right now the only thing saving our butts are a few conservative Democrats. I’d love to see guys like Senator McCain replaced with a Blue Dog D, if there is no way to knock him out in the primary with a real conservative.
My main point is that the Senate is doable, and should be locked in for the conservative game plan. I know that party dominance there is critical due to committee chairs etc., and I’d hope the see the GOP pick up the gavel. But I also think I’d rather see a conservative Democrat leading that chamber than a liberal Republican. There are so many of both that party affiliation is almost meaningless right now.

MikeA on October 16, 2009 at 8:32 AM

My biggest fear with an ancap society is that other nations would interfere and fuck it up similar to what they’re doing in Somalia. There are governments selling arms to Somali factions. But other than that, it’s quite peaceful. The media is biased because they don’t think anyone can be peaceful without a state. The “wild” west was more peaceful before the state began setting up shop there

Libertarian Joseph on October 16, 2009 at 8:29 AM

Since abolishing education is a non-starter politically, I would suggest the next best thing is to advocate 100% participation in voucher programs. Let the schools rise or fall on their ability to attract students in a competitive environment instead of forcing them into socialist incubators.

Every site this morning should have the video of Glen’s show last night. The woman asigned to go after Fox Anita Dunn on video speaking at a high school graduation.

She states with pride that her two heros in life are Mother Theresa, and CHAIRMAN MAO! Then she goes on to tell these young minds just why Mao is a hero.
Obama has stacked his whole administration with communists. I do not know how he is getting these people past the secret service and the FBI, but it has got to stop and these people must be removed immediatly.
The 3 senators that sent the seargent at arms out to look for CAIR plants in congressional offices should be physically taking these people out too!

We have got to get to our senators and congresspeople, and get them to start raising Hell about these subversive activities by Obama and these people.
This is not a small matter and we have got to stop ignoring it!

Libertarian Joseph on October 16, 2009 at 8:29 AM

Well, I’m not sure about abolishing it altogether, but the monopoly must be thoroughly broken with measures to promote school competition and school choice, such as vouchers, universal tax credits, home schooling.

The way I see it, the leftist domination of education is probably conservatism’s greatest existential threat. (Media domination might be next.) It needs to be a top priority in every election until it’s fixed.

That would be an improvement. And, guess what? It would save us money. But nah. Liberals are so ignorant. They simply don’t believe that there should be a profit incentive in the areas of health care or education. This false philosophy of theirs is hurting everyone. If we didn’t have a profit incentive, who would work? Who would join the military if there were no money in it? Some, but not as much that is needed.

They are so ignorant. No incentive in public education means that there’s no incentive for teachers to want to teach better, this means that most students are stripped of their full potential. This hurts America in lost potential. thanks morons

We should also abolish medicare and SS. Hey, it’d be rough for the dependent, but that’s why we should phase our way out of it. Cap it off with a deadline so that people start saving again. The idea of health savings account isn’t so bad

Libertarian Joseph on October 16, 2009 at 8:52 AM

SS should ATLEAST be optional. Want in on the program? Be my guest. Decide on the % you want to contribute, maybe peg it to the stock market, but if it runs red why should we inject funds into it? It means that the program is FAIL. Work, save, make your own damn choices

I hardly ever can catch GB’s TV or radio show because of the schedule, but I saw this clip GB did on Anita Dunn posted at michellemalkin.com. Dunn was giving some commencement speech it sounded like and invokes Mao Tse Tung, a killer of 70 million people, as one of her two main “political philosophers.”

The government is going to push us right up against the bulwark of the 2nd Amendment. Anyone doubt that?

He’s really not very articulate when he’s off TOTUS. All he can say over and over again is that he’s just starting and fired up. a lot of the powers to be make fun of Beck but what do the people say?Well lets look at some ratings numbers. Now remember Becks show is on at 5pm not prime time so he has fewer people to pull from which makes his numbers so remarkable.rating numbers from tvbythenumbers.com 10/12/09 5pm Beck 3,178,000,6pm special report 1,987,000.7pm Shep Smith1,670,000,8pm O,Reilly 3,370,000 9pm Hannity 2,113,000 10pm Greta 1,868,000.He beats every body on fox just about ever night except O,Reilly and comes with in 200,000 of him but remember O,Reilly has a lot bigger pool of people to pull from at 8pm so if you take that fact in to play Beck is really Fox,s #1 show but if you go just by the numbers Beck #2 and closing fast on O,Reilly.

Hope Beck is not advancing toward a 3rd party. This is what Perot did and that’s how we got Jimmy C. There’s not enough duct tape in the world to get us through another 4yrs of the Won. The R’s have to put down the brandy snifters and start paying attention to the people.

It shouldn’t be a political issue at all, state or federal, says this Libertarian.

Monica on October 15, 2009 at 11:12 PM
Constitutionally, it’s a state issue. Those who like to smoke can migrate to states that legalize it. There are more than a few that would. It used to be legal in Alaska to grow weed (something like a limit of four plants).

progressoverpeace on October 15, 2009

Fair or not, the Libertarian Party is saddled with this drug legalization issue. Enough so that when someone identifies themself as a Libertarian to me (rare, but it’s happened in conversation) I automatically think “pot head” and tend to discount the rest of what they say. No, it’s not right, but there it is.

The thing about Beck…when the left goes after him, attacks him even with something close to the truth…he just admits it or doesn’t as the case may be. Then he shrugs or brushes it off or apologizes and continues on his merry way. It all just rolls off simply because he refuses to get mired in it. Good for you Glen.

Does this guy ever talk about anything other than himself?

obladioblada on October 16, 2009 at 10:09 AM

President Obama claims he is just getting started. But, he does not have the intestinal fortitude to clearly state what he is starting. He is starting to unravel, the tenor of this speech is indicative one of person suffering megalomania.

This speech further indicates that President Obama is hell bent on socializing U.S. and prostrates himself to anyone to gain their support.

The enemy of my enemy is my fried does not apply to President Obama, his friends are my enemy.

Thanks. Yeah, who is making the scheduling decisions at Fox, do they realize that Gibson is no longer on? 5pm and then 2am? Does Hannity or Oreilly have operatives in the scheduling department? It just seems amazing that he gets the ratings considering his timeslot. He’d probably destroy both by double digit percentages if they gave him at least 7pm.

That’s ironic, the common perception of potheads are what I ascribe to the majority of Republicans. Lazy and unmotivated, they want limited government, never get it, and never cease to support the same people who gave them big government. Now that I think about it, LSD might be a better analogy, since it seems like many are hallucinating.
