I meant “speak the truth and mock the obvious”

I thought last week’s episode ripping on Michael Jackson, Billy Mayes, and other dead celebrities was better.

Allah…

Thanks in advance.

Matt and Trey are doing what so many are afraid of doing…real honest political satire.
May they have many many more successful seasons.

Can’t beat South Park.
DanStark on October 15, 2009 at 12:13 AM
I’ll catch South Park now and then and Letterman, Jon Stewart, Saturday Night Live and Bill Maher never.
I’ll never forget the South Park with the hybrid driving residents of San Francisco walking around but bending over to smell their farts. I believe this was the episode when the “SMUG from George Clooney’s Oscar Speech” was drifting across the country causing havoc.

Acorns roasting on an open fire
Flames nipping Obama on the
asstoesSituation for his gangsters looks more and more dire
And Obama folks all looking like big crime syndicate schmoes
Everybody knows ACORN’s criminals to prison should go
Lets all help to make the light on them shine bright
Real reporters like Breitbart, O’Keefe and Giles with their eyes aglow
Will make it hard for Obama to sleep at night
And so I’m offering this simple phrase
To Axelrod and Rahm too
Although it’s been said many times, many ways
You crooks get out of Washington town and take your Capo of Crime Obama with you
MB4 on October 15, 2009 at 12:20 AM
Obama Doodle went to Washington town
A-riding on an Acorn Pony
Stuck a feather in his cap
And called any charges of his connection to ACORN, racist baloney
Obama Doodle, keep it up
Obama Doodle dandy
Mind the music and the step
And with your pals the ACORN criminals walk hand in handy
Obama Doodle’s got a new AG
Working day and night to keep away the light
Armed with plenty of his favorite Chicago crew
To all the country’s criminal’s delight
Obama Doodle, keep it up
Obama Doodle dandy
Mind the music and the step
And with the ACORN Criminals walk hand in handy
MB4 on October 15, 2009 at 12:21 AM

They have a very libertarian view point and hate hypocricy. Matt and Trey said they enjoy skewering libs because they are so self righteous about being the good guys and above ridicule.
One of their best was about tolerance. They explained that tolerance means putting up with something, not celebrating it.

Yes, that is great saying, I am glad my family followed it. I am in the energy sector, have been for many years now. Presently I am on the maritime side chartering ships for all of the evil fossil fuels we need to run the world. Funny, despite that, I seem to sleep well at night.

I suspected from your livelihood that it had been awhile since you left AZ. Congratulations, you missed some really bad goings-on there. When I left, ACORN was getting a firm foundation in the PHX area.
I’ve been here two years. I missed AZ for about 5 minutes.

I was lucky to sell my Mesa house finally last year at a 25% reduction. I didn’t give in to the refinance craze a few years earlier, that helped. Now the values have dropped more than 50% and my former neighbors say the foreclosures are getting ridiculous.

Therefore this video is racist.

South Park goes after everyone. Politics and political correctness are not a concern for them. One of the very best and one of the few series I watch on TV.

King of the Hill was canceled, but it lives on in reruns! :)
NathanG on October 15, 2009 at 1:34 AM
I like both of those shows, but I especially like The Simpsons. Not only is it the only modern prime time T.V. show that I can think of where you actually see the main characters go to church on a regular basis, but both Homer and Marge have been tempted several times, but have never, ever cheated on each other. The show has some good old-fashioned values.

The (wise)guys that created and write South Park and others like them are part of the problem.
As we descend into the hell that is Socialism it’s nice that we can chuckle the whole way.
Ha ha.
I guess it’s like when they partied in the Reich Chancellery with the Soviets three or four blocks away.
Dr. ZhivBlago on October 15, 2009 at 2:27 AM
Anyone else notice the pimp telling Butters how he “changed the game”? I find the coincidence to the GOP chairman’s new blog unsettling. Hilarious, but unsettling. XD
Orange Doorhinge on October 15, 2009 at 3:32 AM
South Park is the best, but King of the Hill isn’t what you think…I think. I believe it’s making fun of conservatives by stuffing them into a redneck stereotype. The liberals watch that and every time Hank Hill says something conservative they wet themselves laughing because he says it all rednecky like.
Spiritk9 on October 15, 2009 at 3:50 AM
Liberals may laugh, but the protagonist his still Hank Hill.
The Hill family consistently shows true American conservative values (i.e. respect for liberty, tolerance for others, etc.) while mocking those that truly are closed-minded. Contrast how Hank Hill’s father is used as a foil with often absurd traditionalist values, while often also portrayed as having great insight.
While it’s slightly mocking, it’s only a redneck stereotype to liberals – who are by no means masters of subtlety (consider the wit used to make the phrase “teabaggers”). Contrast Hank Hill with Cleetus from the Simpsons, or anyone not from urban hipsterville on the manatee-written, nihilistic Family Guy, or the equally pseudo-funny American Dad.
Consider that most of the plots of King of the Hill are relatively sedate, and consist of mostly domestic humor, while sometimes having serious situations; and occasionally the absurd (dadgum Megalomart go boom).
The episode where the Canadians house-swap with Boomhauer is utterly hilarious. His subtle swipes at all things American, despite the Hills’ persistence in hospitality, are much akin to the discussions between patient conservatives and angry liberals. It’s really a good show.
First off, there aren’t many others like them (I will note King of the Hill, however).
They’re also providing exposure to the topic. And, as I’m sure by now you’re familiar with Alinsky, they’re using mockery as a weapon and beginning to control the dialog. Look at why Rush got pushed out of contention for the Rams bid – because of fabrications and mockery perpetuated by the left; because of a public (false) perception of racism, perpetuated by hack humorists everywhere who get a cheap laugh.
When ACORN deservedly (rather than falsely) becomes the butt of every pimp joke, they’re no longer taken seriously, and they suffer political consequences. Also, by challenging long-held mainstream leftist beliefs, it gets the regular folks to question what they’ve been listening to for decades. Which is also a hallmark of Glenn Beck’s popularity.
They’re part of the solution.
CPL 310 on October 15, 2009 at 4:18 AM
*is still Hank Hill.
Durrr…
—
Regardless my typo (and there may be more), watching both shows with a critical eye reveals a lot more biting, objective satire than one might expect.
South Park in particular ends up erring on the side of liberty most often, and King of the Hill for American values which often embrace liberty and idealistic American virtues. There are some cute regional stereotypes, many of which exist for a reason – and many of whom are the people who liberals would mock, but both the wholesomeness and humor of the show is fairly solid. Liberals assuredly do mock the people in Hank Hill’s world in a myriad of ways because they feel they’re culturally superior… but so what? Liberals love child rapists like Roman Polanski and child sex slave rings like ACORN and support murdering women for the greatness of their leaders – like saying Mary Jo would’ve wanted to die for Kennedy’s leftist accomplishments (which were detrimental to all, but don’t bother libs with the facts).
Keep in mind also that Hank started off as a foil to Beavis & Butthead’s puerile nihilism.

1981 for me.
They went after Truthers, groups that wouldn’t show the Danish Cartoons, Hillary Clinton, and Osama Bin Laden. Surprisingly, I haven’t seen anyone else do that. It’s a worthy show. They insult everyone at times, but they’re fair and really skewer the right people.
SO every time we laugh the socialists win? Have you learned nothing from Alinsky? Mockery is an incredible tool. It’s far more effective than whining in a comment section.
