Video: Chris Matthews apologizes for his Rush Limbaugh death fantasy, sort of
posted at 6:45 pm on October 14, 2009 by Allahpundit
Skip ahead to 2:04. I believe him, actually. The uncanny sense one has listening to Matthews is that his mouth moves faster than his brain. When you’re saddled with that handicap, you’re bound to talk your way into analogies that come out … the wrong way.
Besides, I think we have to grade him on the curve. By MSNBC’s standards of violent imagery over the past 24 hours, this was pretty tame.

Handicapped or not, Chrissy’s still an a$$!

Turd
sandlin71 on October 14, 2009 at 6:49 PM
how very big of him…
cmsinaz on October 14, 2009 at 6:49 PM
Sorry, I agree with you that Matthews is mentally handicapped but that isn’t the whole story. If this were Hannity, Rush, or Levin with a “death fantasy” about KO, this ignorant bastard would be leading the charge that they be fired. The bastard should be held to the same standard.
highhopes on October 14, 2009 at 6:49 PM
Hey, can I get away talking about my fantasy of seeing Chris Matthews getting a thrill up his leg after stepping on a high voltage cable?
pilamaye on October 14, 2009 at 6:50 PM
rats…foiled again.
he’s still a turd!
sandlin71 on October 14, 2009 at 6:50 PM
What a weasly P.O.S. jackoff.
OmahaConservative on October 14, 2009 at 6:50 PM
Let’s stay on topic, please.
Allahpundit on October 14, 2009 at 6:50 PM
Rush is making a lot of hay with it all.
Saul Alinsky in reverse. He was nailing these guys today.
Starlink on October 14, 2009 at 6:51 PM
The amount of money Rush earns gives Matthews a thrill up and down his leg.
perroviejo on October 14, 2009 at 6:51 PM
I’ll say it again: Damages.
Thus: huge friggin’ lawsuit. Rush owes it to everyone who supported him while he was targeted by every lefty race-baiter who could put two words together.
Is this how those depraved lefties felt when Van Jones was run out of public office where he had control of government money based on things he actually said and did?
KingGold on October 14, 2009 at 6:52 PM
sorry.
eh on October 14, 2009 at 6:52 PM
I wonder if Chris Matthews has another thrill running up his leg? After all, Rush has lost 80 lbs.
that obvious Jimmy Carter influence.
dthorny on October 14, 2009 at 6:52 PM
Hey Allah, i watched him for a bit tonight, and he interviewed olympia snowe
it was AMAZING to see his mask fall!
the FIRST thing he said to olympia was “THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR VOTING FOR— I mean, I mean, Thank you so much for APPEARING on this show! haha, sorry, im sure there are some out there that are happy you voted yes on health care”
It was amazing. He forgets that he is a “journalist”
battleoflepanto1571 on October 14, 2009 at 6:52 PM
i wonder what he said about rush and the nfl, it stopped a wee bit short there…
knowing him, probably somthing snarky
cmsinaz on October 14, 2009 at 6:53 PM
you notice they still use an old picture of him…
*sigh*
cmsinaz on October 14, 2009 at 6:54 PM
He is laughing while he apologizes. Laughing! Sincere AP?
Note too he uses an image of Rush as he looked 80 pounds ago.
Do you care for Rush AP? I missed that connection or lack of.
FireBlogger on October 14, 2009 at 6:54 PM
Of course Matthews shouldn’t have gone into such detail. He needs to learn to say it more obliquely, in order that he has plausible deniability. S**theel.
MadisonConservative on October 14, 2009 at 6:54 PM
Weak apology…my son did better when he was five.
ladyingray on October 14, 2009 at 6:54 PM
Death wish? Mouth moves faster than brain?? Feckless back peddle???
I would expect nothing less from a wing of the democrat party.

ThePrez on October 14, 2009 at 6:57 PM
Matthews only feels magnanimous because of what he mentions at the very end of the clip.
Bilby on October 14, 2009 at 6:58 PM
That was no apology. He just had an opportunity to repeat himself. Nobody watches him anyway. What a buffoon. Remember Zell Miller was asked if he really thought the U.S. Military would use spitballs. What an empty headed moron.
rjoco1 on October 14, 2009 at 6:58 PM
Guess not, just had to log back in.
Anyway, ever notice that when doing a story on Rush, leftists always use a picture of him when he`s at his biggest?
Have they not seen him lately?
ThePrez on October 14, 2009 at 6:59 PM
It’s ok Chris the feeling is mutual
400lb Gorilla on October 14, 2009 at 7:00 PM
In true Liberal fashion Chrissy the Hack merely regrets the momentary escape of his inner demons rather than their presence within him.
viking01 on October 14, 2009 at 7:00 PM
But this is the most attention this little child has gotten since Zell Miller challenged him during the 2004 DNC convention.
highhopes on October 14, 2009 at 7:01 PM
Mathews definitely has mouth diarrhea. But that’s not really an excuse. If he can’t keep from saying retarded things he shouldn’t get a show where he pretends to be an objective news man.
BadgerHawk on October 14, 2009 at 7:01 PM
Well, I believe he’s sorry this might be used against him, and he’s sorry he didn’t think of that before he said it.
brobin on October 14, 2009 at 7:02 PM
He can thank the Founding Fathers for the 1st Amendment while he’s at it.
Freedom of speech also means freedom to say stupid things.
ZenDraken on October 14, 2009 at 7:03 PM
What the hell is with all the sputtering? Swallow the excess saliva there Daffy.
Daemonocracy on October 14, 2009 at 7:04 PM
Maybe Chrissy is just scared that Rush will do to him what he did to Harry.
Brat4life on October 14, 2009 at 7:05 PM
I bet more people here at HA heard about this than actually watch his show.
d1carter on October 14, 2009 at 7:08 PM
Note the slight smirk during the “apology” and only when he mentions that Rush was dropped from consideration by the NFL did he take on a more serious expression. What a douche!
mizflame98 on October 14, 2009 at 7:09 PM
Gotta love how he does not use a current pic of Rush

I noticed some of the major news outlets doing the same. Isn’t the best left for Keef?

Hardball Sideshow? So this is Sideshow Bob?
(Sorry, I don’t watch tv so that’s new to me.)
Dusty on October 14, 2009 at 7:12 PM
I’m pretty sure that Rush Limbaugh himself was the one who leaked his NFL ownership bid to the media and it has played out exactly like he expected. Rushbo kept his name at the top of the news cycle for a few days while the predictable over-the-top responses by the usual suspects gave him plenty of fodder to paint them as malicious jackasses.
He’s playing chess while his opponents are playing checkers.
rsrobinson on October 14, 2009 at 7:13 PM
Rush said yesterday that letters were going to to people who were slandering… I hope so..
reshas1 on October 14, 2009 at 7:13 PM
An apology with a smile. Matthews is a very creepy guy.
sinsing on October 14, 2009 at 7:13 PM
he felt bad as in the higher ups warned him.
rob verdi on October 14, 2009 at 7:14 PM
No, there is no excuse for what he did.He has been in this long enough to know when to shut-up.He was on a roll and enjoyed it.That’s fine chris, you look like the a$$!
ohiobabe on October 14, 2009 at 7:16 PM
What are Chrissy’s ratings these days? Lower than congress is my bet.
Mangy Scot on October 14, 2009 at 7:17 PM
Crissy is just dreaming about getting to use his kneepads when he finally services Zero Hussien.
OmahaConservative on October 14, 2009 at 7:18 PM
Why did he have to apologize? According to Charles Johnson and his cult, he did nothing wrong, Rush had it comming, republicans suck, it was a joke, you’re banned!
Blake on October 14, 2009 at 7:18 PM
Chrissy is most definitely NOT a journalist. And you should apologize to journalists for that comparison. ;-)
Andy in Agoura Hills on October 14, 2009 at 7:19 PM
Yeah, he’s real sorry. So sorry they used an outdated photo of a bloated Limbaugh.
You don’t make a sincere apology with a smile on your face and refer to Limbaugh’s “inflated picture of himself”.
Matthews is an ass.
hepcat on October 14, 2009 at 7:22 PM
I think we can all agree that Chuckles is an a$$. There is no use repeating it in anymore threads on HA. It just brings CJ more orgasmic ecstasy to be mentioned. We should try to aviod that. Allahpundit, though I hate to admit it, was right about not mentioning that who shall remain unmentioned.
Andy in Agoura Hills on October 14, 2009 at 7:23 PM
Maybe Chrissy is thinking he will be hearing from Rush’s legal team.
BetseyRoss on October 14, 2009 at 7:23 PM
I think the bigger story here is that MSNBC, with these graphics, is practically admitting that their viewers are comic book/”graphic novel”-reading, mother’s-basement-dwelling losers!
American Elephant on October 14, 2009 at 7:23 PM
He didn’t apologize for what he said he apologized for being as graphic as he was for what he said.
fourdeucer on October 14, 2009 at 7:24 PM
There’s the first mistake, assuming he has a brain. Hey Chris, follow the yellow brick road.
Rovin on October 14, 2009 at 7:24 PM
What a dumb clown Matthews is.
therightwinger on October 14, 2009 at 7:25 PM
Hey Charlie, you can suck it you pathetic worm.
AP, don’t get yourself worked up by this one-way feud. The Lizard King has serious mental issues that he needs to deal with. The man needs to step back away from his computer and take a loooooooong vacation. He is a small man that needs his cult like followers to boost up his ego. You are 100 times the man and blogger he will ever be. Keep up the good work Allahpundit. Same goes to Ed of course.
Lance Murdock on October 14, 2009 at 7:27 PM
He lied. He was referring to Rush not Mr. Big when he said a co2 pellet gun should be put in his mouth and fired. To watch he blow up. Rush not Mr. Big. He is a first class A-HOLE.
The point is, his doing what he claims Rush is doing. Oh the Irony of it all.
mmm mmm mmm
IowaWoman on October 14, 2009 at 7:28 PM
We must start demanding that they be held to their own standards. That is, the standards they apply to us.
I hope Rush uses every penny he was going to pump into the Rams to help bring these people down.
TheBigOldDog on October 14, 2009 at 7:32 PM
Just a drunk lying bastard, like his old boss Tip O’Neill.
TexasJew on October 14, 2009 at 7:32 PM
I would love to see one day how these big media types would react if they were treated repeatedly to the same horse excrement that they have been dishing out upon others over the years.
JellyToast on October 14, 2009 at 7:33 PM
Well he solved that problem pretty quickly!
Leftards are Leftards for life because sooner or later, the mental illness gains the upper hand again. Moments of lucidity, no matter how long they last are not a cure.
TheBigOldDog on October 14, 2009 at 7:34 PM
Thanks for the NFL comments link…I sent mine, everybody else should too!!!
Tim Zank on October 14, 2009 at 7:34 PM
Now all of a sudden you care? Why?
TheBigOldDog on October 14, 2009 at 7:34 PM
Again, I hope Rush uses every penny he won’t be spending to buy the Rams to drag these people through the courts for the next 20 years! He should sue them personally and their employers.
TheBigOldDog on October 14, 2009 at 7:40 PM
Matthews days of making a difference ended years ago. Now he is just the wet nurse for the O-dministration.
portlandon on October 14, 2009 at 7:41 PM
THAT’S an apology? He’s laughing through it. Of course, it won’t be long before he’s spittling mad again over something a Conservative says about Messiah and the Conservative will be forced to atone and atone, but No dice, bub.
Marcus on October 14, 2009 at 7:48 PM
Chrissie offered his little pseudo-apology, but I’m sure he couldn’t wait to get to the end where he just had to slip in the little tidbit about Rush being dropped from the group of buyers. I guess he had to put something in there to appease his liberal moron friends who would have been all sorts of bent if he had simply apologized.

Well now Allah,
“I believe him, actually. The uncanny sense one has listening to Matthews is that his mouth moves faster than his brain. When you’re saddled with that handicap, you’re bound to talk your way into analogies that come out … the wrong way.
Besides, I think we have to grade him on the curve. By MSNBC’s standards of violent imagery over the past 24 hours, this was pretty tame.”
what’s with this – you’re begining to sound like Barry now, making excuses for wankers to the left and wankers to the right of you – there is no excuse nor one that can be offered re this soon to be typical left-wing crap. . . .

It is now time for my flatscreen to flush the toilet….
Sorry, MSNBC..turds away!
HornetSting on October 14, 2009 at 8:02 PM
#1. Why would Rush care if Matthews apologizes? Rush is 10,000 times more famous and rich.
#2. Why would Rush care if Matthews is sincere or laughing because, (see #1).
Jeff from WI on October 14, 2009 at 8:13 PM
You believe…what? He didn’t say anything. You believe that he’s apologizing? Good grief, you must be drunk.
Jaibones on October 14, 2009 at 8:20 PM
I watched the whole clip believe it or not. Who the hell can listen to and believe anything this idiot spouts? What a truly detestable character. Allahpundit thinks he’s sincere? Then again I think he voted for Kerry too so….

CYA on the potential lawsuit.
aka “propagandist for the one”.
All we need to know about Chris Matthews: He worked with Jimmy Carter as a presidential speechwriter during the Carter administration.
Killer rabbits, general malaise, wear a sweater instead of using your heater, gas rationing….what a turd.
dthorny on October 14, 2009 at 8:31 PM
Chris Matthews is just doing his job:
On November 6, 2008, after the election, he stated on the MSNBC television program “Morning Joe,” that “I want to do everything I can to make [...] this new Presidency work [...] This is my job
dthorny on October 14, 2009 at 8:34 PM
You mean there are people who still actually WATCH Chris Matthews?? Wow! Who knew?
blr2449 on October 14, 2009 at 8:42 PM

Death Wishing scumbag.
If a right-leaning speaker (you can’t call CM a journalist, reporter, correspondent, etc.) had made such a vile and vicious comment, he or she would have been excoriated and hounded in every media venue, day and night, as a “talking head terrorist” until they were driven into retirement.
Matthews is retreating slime.
profitsbeard on October 14, 2009 at 9:43 PM
“I believe him, actually.”
Who are you and what have you done with the real Allahpundit?
“The uncanny sense one has listening to Matthews is that his mouth moves faster than his brain.”
So what? That’s true of some guys’ fists. They use ‘em before they think it through. Somehow though my guess is that “My fist moved faster than my brain, your honor” would not be a successful defense in court. Imus’ mouth moved faster than his brain. He still lost his job.
It strains credulity that Matthews extended, elaborate, strained, and vivid riffing on a Bond villain demise for Rush was an innocent slip of the tongue. Who the hell has a minute-plus second slip of the tongue? His brain must move really slow if that’s the case.
shazbat on October 14, 2009 at 10:20 PM
I was thinking more like Cynthia McKinnon
cjk on October 14, 2009 at 10:22 PM
EXACTLY! He “apologized” then immediately segued gleefully into reporting bad news for Rush.
This is like me apologizing to my girlfriend for suggesting that she looks like she’s gaining weight, then saying “By the way your mother said I’m a much better cook than you.”
perroviejo on October 14, 2009 at 10:24 PM
Ayatollah Mathews revokes his fatwa on Rushdie.
jhffmn on October 14, 2009 at 10:26 PM
Why? Was it the smirk on his face the whole time, or the last shot about Rush getting derailed over the Rams bid?
Lefties get away with way to much. Limbaugh can’t criticize sports writers as a NFL analyst without causing a controversy. But Matthews day dreams of a person’s gruesome death and then talks about it on TV, and it’s all good?
It’s OK Chrissy, I day dream too…..
Hog Wild on October 14, 2009 at 10:45 PM
More like he seems as disassociated with the reality of 2009 as Snowe.
The real conservatives are seething mad and energized. Allah is one of those so called conservatives who don’t get it. He dismisses real trends and focuses in the folks that trash Palin or anything that doesn’t fit his agenda. There is a revolution in the offing and he is content on dithering over minor issues.
highhopes on October 14, 2009 at 11:26 PM
At some point, while the debate rages and the slanders and betrayals fly faster and penetrate deeper, a barely perceived line is quietly crossed and an adversary becomes an enemy.
Something in the atmosphere of the room softly changes while we are preoccupied with the noise, and suddenly some one isn’t going to make out of the room alive that day.
I can see something terrible coming at us over the horizon and I can see it as clearly as anything I’ve ever seen before. Something in me wants to run away and something else wants to see it come as soon as might be.
Lew on October 15, 2009 at 12:15 AM
Honestly AP. I just downgraded my respect for you another ten notches.
How can you watch such a smarmy bastard, who is clearly giggling as he gives a half ass apology that he doesn’t take seriously, and say you believe him.
Surely, you can’t be who you are with mostly insightful commentary and simultaneously have such an awful read on Matthews.
You are too close to the action. You need a Leave Of Absence.
