MSNBC guest: For Limbaugh, owning an NFL team would be like owning a plantation

posted at 8:51 pm on October 13, 2009 by Allahpundit

Another iteration of the talking point du jour. Narratives, like flowers, don’t spring up overnight; they have to be carefully nurtured until they bloom. Consider this another little sprinkle from the water can. And please do note that the James Earl Ray nonsense she attributes to Limbaugh — which also happens to be a favorite of my moral superiors in the blogosphere — now makes two specious unsourced quotes he’s been tagged with on MSNBC in hopes of blocking his NFL bid. I say again: He should sue. They’re simply not going to fact-check this stuff unless and until he threatens them into doing so.

Exit question: Which rabid Republican said this of Rush’s bid for the Rams? “There’re now gonna be character tests for sports owners? There’ll only be three of them left. Unless they beat the Vikings Sunday as of next Thursday it will have been a full year since the Rams won a game. My God, if Limbaugh wants to buy them far be it for me to tell him he’s flushing his money down a rat hole.” Hmmmm. Click the image to watch.

Rush should quietly withdraw his offer now that it has been revealed that the NFL is for blacks only! Others should follow his lead and let the black racist have the whole thing! Ticket sales and TV revenue may fall about 95% but the league can stay ethnically pure and cleansed of all racists:(only non-blacks!) The same should apply to the NBA!

What makes this lady an expert on Rush Limbaugh? Does she listen to him every day? Are they lifelong friends? Did she do a biography of him?

Or is she just spewing pablum about a person she knows next to nothing about?

Someone needs to educate this dumb broad about her history.
PASS IT ALONG ….. Plantation owners were DEMOCRATS dummy!

hopefloats on October 14, 2009 at 12:15 PM

It’s a plantation where the cotton-pickers make millions a year.

I hope that Rush withdraws his offer.

Let the Rams rot.

molonlabe28 on October 14, 2009 at 12:17 PM

I’m not raggin’ on the chick. Apparently, this subconscious sense of inferiority to whites is gettin’ her down. It’s a mental illness, stupid. There’s therapy available for it.

By the way, does she know that black Africans sold massive amounts of conquered enemy tribes into slavehood to the white Europeans or is she just selectively ignorant on that aspect of history? Just sayin’. The African slave trade was lucrative for blacks and whites alike.

absolutely disgraceful

marklmail on October 14, 2009 at 12:39 PM

That is disgusting! What an ugly ugly hateful woman she is. What football team isn’t consisted of the majority of black players? Are all the teams owned by black owners?
That was just gross.

I think Rush should buy the team and fire all the black players, then no one can say that again.

And what is up with that slavery quote that is circulating? It is a rumor, and no one NO ONE has found the proof he ever said it.

sarainitaly on October 14, 2009 at 12:56 PM

Rush needs to buy a hockey franchise.

jeanie on October 14, 2009 at 1:36 PM

Rush was never going to actually buy a team. He’s a genius. Look at the millions of dollars of free ad time he gets. His numbers just go higher.

Remember how he also left the scene before police arrived?

Remember how unlike those bogus quotes these actually happened so they can’t cover it up?

Thinking that you own a plantation should not be made the equal to owning a plantation. That is a thought crime.

If Rush is, as is truly the case, just ONE of the owners, all the other owners would need to agree to make it into a plantation. If they are happy with the outcome, and they are not racist, “racist” Rush can think he owns a plantation all he wants, but I thought the real problem was people suffering under discrimination, not what some out-of-touch racist thinks is being accomplished.

This is why they can’t even make the case on THEIR terms, if I let a little bit of neutral light in. Because they are being dishonest with their simplifications. Of course, people on the conservative side are keeping the lie alive when they talk about Rush selecting players–I understand it in the context of how Rush would run an NFL team and is germane to the discussion that the viewpoint-chauvinists are framing. But we must make it clear: ONE of the owners.

You can argue with them in their little fantasy world, but then back away to reveal it an undecided situation. It’s one of my disappointments with Rush that sometimes he doesn’t know how to stop “being absurd”. I’ve always been impressed with his ability to compare analogies and engage the other mindset, but disappointed about how he fails make a clear line between how liberals do react to things and how conservatives should conduct themselves.

Axeman on October 14, 2009 at 3:09 PM

Does this dipstick reporter REALLY want to go there?
Let’s start with Josh Howard of the Dallas Mavericks.
Mark Cuban and his jokes about the Josh Howard incident, which were ORIGINALLY, “Howard needs to watch what he says in public because he’s going to be attacked by narrow-minded flag-wavers who are basically racists.” “Josh needs to remember, there are always cameras going to catch every little thing you say.” And of course, this was all deleted from Cuban’s blog later.
Then we have Cuban supporting and distributing 911 Conspiracy Theory film.
Mark Cuban and his farce “Redacted”.

MLB kept cuban from buying the Chicago Cubs, but with GOOD REASON.

The attack on Limbaugh is EXCLUSIVELY because of Limbaugh’s politics.

A call to Hotair posters, please help me find arrogant behavior by Charles on Charles’ blog. Kind of like the thing where he can find examples of something so he thinks he can widen the criticism to people “like” them.

And it doesn’t have to be actually arrogant on any objective scale–just if we can convince ourselves that it is arrogant thought-police work. How much do you think that would stick with Charles?

Just as much as his inevitable over-exaggerating should have here. I have to say that I try to cool the dialog away from the “hang ’em all” type of posters, which really don’t sit well with me.

Gee, Charli-bots, I can go to a Muslim site where they are a little bit more pro-Jihad than other places. And I can find people talking about violence–but you’d never let someone get away with painting Islam that way–unless they painted all religion that way, that is.

Intellect is a discipline. You have to be willing to restrain yourself from doing what you castigate others for doing. And you have to extend to others courtesies that you demand. Reading is also important.

People are noticing the incredible vitriol that’s being directed at me, for not toeing the hard right line.

Delusional as ever. You’ve been sliming people for many months now you’re shocked! shocked! shocked! that people don’t like you. And it has nothing to do with you “not toeing the hard right line.” It’s because you are an intolerant, hypocrite, a-hole.

And what sort of modern day plantation would that be? hmmm? are you saying we still have slaves? The NFL players are far from slaves maam. They are driving Lamborginis and own huge mansions where us fans are paying for jerseys with their numbers on them and our kids are looking up to them. They had better start acting like decent people though becuase our kids do look up to them, and we do help pay their salaries with all the sports items we purchase so they can live like they do. Us normal people don’t have that luxury of fancy sportscars and millionaire parties. Even when they break the law, we still take them back and yet here a man who wishes to partake in the American Dream himself and be part of the NFL machine as an owner, can’t do it. If Rush were black would it help? hmmm?

johnnyU on October 15, 2009 at 8:51 AM

Just another liberal rascist. I hope Rush exposes the lot of them and then takes their houses.

Parley on October 15, 2009 at 11:32 AM

This behavior from opposition such as the black woman who made that racist, misinformed statement, as well as any “leaders” such as “Players Representatives” is just a clear example of the extent of the influence of lack of proper, accurate education, and also the extent of the influence and sickness coming from the “Klan with the Tan (tip to Dr. Walter Williams),” all blacks (and even Hispanics) who are flaming racists, ethnocentric, or race-centric nut cases.

These people are so racist that they are obsessed with race, kinda’ like a sex obsessed nut case, or even a stalker. They wake up in the morning with anger on their brain, and race on their brain, and rabidly approaching the day with a view to find a racist offense to fabricate, exaggerate, or make up out of whole cloth.

They are like a stalker in that they fix their claws in a target and they cannot and will not stop until they destroy that target, and they will follow that target around ceaselessly, obsessively, and they will see even the slightest offense where there IS no offense, it is all created in the stalker’s-racist’s head.

It is long past time for all blacks, Hispanics, Asians-Orientals, and Caucasians to show NO tolerance for this racism any longer. It is time to call them out on it, reprimand them on it, and severely humiliate them for their overt, obsessive racism, immediately when they spit it out.

This “Klan with the Tan” does not merely target Conservatives, Caucasians, they also have been targeting Asians-Orientals for a very long time, drumming up hatred against them, mocking them in comedy routines, talking about them in derogatory ways in public forums, interviews, etc., and pushing for reverse discrimination against Asians-Orientals.

Yes, there is a “Klan with the Tan, and it is past time that people acknowledged it and called them on it!

This Klan with a Tan attacks so-called “minorities” whose head “ain’t right” such as black Conservatives and Libertarians, such as Larry Elder, Thomas Sowell, Michael Steele, Condaleezza Rice (who might not be so Conservative or Libertarian), Ward Connerly, Michelle Malkin, and others, spewing hate speech, calling for their torture, murder, etc., calling them names, such as “Uncle Tom,” “Wanna’ be White,” “Stoop and Fetchit,” “Carry the White Man’s Water,” “Asian whore,” and more. They attack black, Asian, Hispanic, etc., Conservatives for not knowing their place and for selling out their own kind, a clearly idiotic charge, and they see every white Conservative as motivated by racism and bigotry, even though it isn’t true. They also attack the likes of Connerly for going home to his “white wife,” another clear example of the Klan with the Tan’s overt racism.

They should not be tolerated or appeased or enabled. They should be smacked down and put in their place, awaken from their drugged out state of demented racism and hatred.

It has gone on for too long and they now are like rabid dogs, slobbering every where, always acting like deranged idiots, as in Jesse Jackson, Malick Shabaz, Louis Farahkan, Al Sharpton, Harry Belafonte, and so many others.

Just say not to stupid racist, bigoted, ignorant, misogynist, hate filled hate and race mongers, no matter they be black, Hispanic, or . Don’t let them get away with it any longer!

William2006 on October 15, 2009 at 1:27 PM

The teasers [for “V”] running on ABC offer a hint of this. “They gave us hope. We gave them our trust.” Who does that bring to mind? Of course, the Visitors (hence the title), after promising things like universal health care and peace in a one world government, turn out to be totally evil. They attempt to seize control of the media, favoring those who don’t challenge them or ask probing questions about their real agenda, which turns out to be the annihilation of humanity. The heroes are everyday people, who form a grass roots resistance movement.

J_Crater on October 15, 2009 at 5:50 PM

This whole thing with Rush and the NFL, on all sides, reminds me why I ONLY watch college football these days! Just a bunch of prima donnas! And the NFL, its players, and owners do not deserve to have someone of Rush’s caliber.
It is a sad day in America though, huh?
