Video: White House communications chief whines about Fox News, media for nine minutes
posted at 6:46 pm on October 11, 2009 by Allahpundit
“Let’s not pretend they’re a news network the way CNN is,” she says, flattering the impartial, hard-news sensibility of an outfit that’s recently taken to fact-checking comedy skits on behalf of His Holiness. In fact, here’s what was airing on the “nonpartisan” cable news channel this morning before and after this miserable hack’s appearance:
All morning, CNN has been intermittently running a promo for Anderson Cooper 360, a show that has long billed itself as a classic straight news program with an investigative front man who digs “beyond the headlines” with “many points of view, so you can make up your own mind.” The new promo, by contrast, consists of a woman’s voice, pitching Cooper’s show as, essentially, a liberal alternative to Fox News: “I’m a lifelong Democrat,” she says, “and that’s why I watch Anderson Cooper.” Hmmm. The voice goes on to say that Cooper is the person she can turn to hold “right wing” conservatives accountable. Cooper is not exactly aiming for the political middle ground here.
A guy known for making “teabagging” jokes about conservatives appeals to Democrats? Go figure. Meanwhile, not a word is breathed here about the nightly backrubs that The One gets from Olbermann and Maddow on MSNBC, despite Dunn practically begging for a question in that vein by whining about Fox being aligned with one of the two major parties. Good work, Kurtz.
The clip of Chris Wallace calling them a bunch of crybabies is obligatory in any post about the most media-worshiped president since JFK whining about his coverage, but we’ve used it twice in just the past five days. So below, to administer the coup de grace, you’ll find a new one featuring our favorite liberal. Take it away, KP.

Here is the thing: Fox news has caught onto this although they they to play both sides. Hot air, Ed, Allah, and also Michelle, I think still reject the totality, although they see parts. We are in the midst of a revolution, in which in four years, and more likely eight years, we look more like Venezuela then we did the nation that our founding fathers had desireed for us. There is nothing that can be dome now to stop it. the one thing hot air does not completely sign onto, but is a reality, is the totality of collaboration from the republican party. You have the Statists represented by Barak Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid one side. On the statist (that is with the little “s”), you have McCain, Lindsay Graham, and yes even John Boehner. John may give argument to every deocratic argument that comes before him, but that is all it is. He is like a chihuahua, throw him a bisquit and he is quite.
I never thought I would see such a day or a time in America, but I fear it has already happneed, we have becoime Amerika. Unfortunately6, there is no return from this statist utopia. You have seen your brightest days. You have accomplished all you may ever accomplish. Your sons and daughters now serve the state, they can not hope for individual accomplishment. Remember this the next time you talk to someone who tells you proudly they voted for Obama.

CNN’s coverage of 9/12:
Today 9,000 raving right wing racists turned up in Washington, D.C. and fortunately they were barely noticeable, especially by our extensive coverage from two stringers from Acorn.

The more the White House and these news networks act like spoiled children the less people will watch them.
I mean Red Eye is a more new oriented show than the hour of felatio and crying we see on CNN.

Fortunately, my “Rule of Democratic Projection” universal translator tells me what she’s really saying:
Hope I got the quote right. It was a little hard to hear her point through all the whining.

I haven’t read all the comments, but I read this:

Wild. The actual fact is that Fox News was found to be MORE objective on the campaign than other networks.
I’m not sure which study she’s referring to, but the one I saw disputes her opinion firmly.

If you watch one of the trailers longer, you’ll see a “journalist” take offense to the visitor’s statement about how they cannot be portrayed negatively. Of course, then “she” essentially offers him a bribe, and he has to make a decision: real journalism; or a career-enhancing puff-piece.
Pure fiction, of course. Today’s media wouldn’t need to be reminded that they shouldn’t portray something alien in a negative light.
johnny alpha on October 12, 2009 at 6:27 AM
What’s this ladies job? She can’t be a spokesperson. First of all, that voice, it’s like a whining siren. Second, the every other sentence “ya know” bit. She sounds as stupid as Caroline Kennedy. Then the subject, whining about a news network. How can you whine about how you’re treated if you refuse to be on that network. The crybabies remark might be true but it sounds more like cowards tome. Every President has had to answer to the press, even this wimpy one.
Jeff from WI on October 12, 2009 at 6:43 AM
I view the issue more like the shape of a horseshoe with Fox News filling the gap where the manure doesn’t hit.
Where are all the protests from those that claim to value the first amendment when the bully pulpit aggressively and continully attacks all media critics? “Don’t listen to Fox, or Rush, or Beck, or Hannity?” How about freedom. Someone needs to officially tell the Whitehouse they are trampling on our rights and to back off in no uncertain terms, not because they’ll listen, but because some of those in the masses who drink the Kool-aid might just take notice of such a simple concept..

I can’t believe that there are actual attacks on Americans and/or the American press coming out of the White House.
Since the days of LBJ and Richard Nixon, every political consultant knows that is what the DNC (or RNC) is there for.
Ms. Dunn must be at least as stupid as her boss to be going on about this in the name of the White House in front of the White House. Stupid is as stupid as the boss.
Two thumbs up for outright stupidity

A real leader would never be so petty and childish as to be concerned about what is reported about him and his failed policies. He would have more concern about the troops in harms way, yet…they’re still waiting for him to come up with a strategy. Shameful. He should get a Nobel prize all right, for ineptitude.

“Fox Noise”? How utterly original.
Meanwhile, CNN is the “news organization” that falsely accused the US of nerve-gassing Laotian civilians, gave Saddam Hussein’s atrocities against his own people a pass for a decade, and had their CEO resign in disgrace after he falsely accused US troops of murdering Iraqi journalists in cold blood.
As I’ve said before, when you Leftards can provide comparable examples of “Fox Noise” doing the same things, we’ll talk.

And Yesterday’s coverage of gays in DC (not that there is anything wrong with that, there is everything wrong with that, but that’s another subject):
18 BILLION (reality a few thousand, if that) peace loving, Earth worshipping, flower pedal tossing minions of GLBT’s, graced Washington DC with their peace, love and harmony alternate view of America. Their goal; to wipe out the RACIST, hate filled, bigoted, homophobic view of this terrible country of America in exchange for the lovefest and joy they represent. There were 15 million arrested at this peace, love and harmony fest for throwing bricks at police cars, starting fires and general mayhem.
Compare that to last months “media stated” 70,000 (reality was 1.5 million) EVIL, bigoted, hate mongers that filled the DC mall although peacefully, left less trash in the mall than when the event started. HOWEVER, their VILE, WICKED THOUGHTS and general hatred toward GLBT’s is disgusting, they kick puppies in their spare time and, God forbid, eat meat.
Or something like that. No media double standard here, move along.
dthorny on October 12, 2009 at 1:13 PM

I couldn’t listen to that for more than a couple minutes. How does a woman with such a nasal screechy voice become a communications chief? Maybe so you don’t ask too many questions.
They are demonizing anyone who disagrees with them. You don’t even have to disagree; daring to question the Dear Leader gets you dragged through the mud.
bitsy on October 12, 2009 at 1:51 PM
So what we have is a White House communications director thinking she has the authority and ability to decide what is real coverage, what is a real news network and link affiliation to the Republican party.
She does not get to decide what constitutes news or coverage—that is something for the people to decide. Because the news is responsible to the people, not the government.
Freedom of the press is all about holding the government accountable to the people, not provide news outlets and press blurbs to make the government look good.
I liked the comment about no President since George Washington thinking they are covered the way they should be, but this administration is whining about it longer and more loudly than any other, while getting primarily, fawning coverage. Man up, Obama Administration, worry about policy, let the people worry about how its covered.

Was just reading a Foxnews.com article on the feud between Obama and Fox. Anita Dunn at the White House was paraphrased and quoted:
The administration’s aggressive stance suggests that it does not view Fox’s audience as one that can be persuaded. During the presidential campaign, Ms. Dunn said, it booked campaign representatives on Fox to try to reach undecided voters, but by mid-October, the campaign had mostly withdrawn them from the channel’s programs.
“It was beyond diminishing returns,” she said. “It was no returns.”
In other words, “Once you learn the truth, we can’t pull the wool over your eyes anymore.”

I think it’s a big mistake for other news outlets to stay silent this. They have just been branded as the networks worthy to bring you the White House version of the news — which, of course, they are. The latest evidence being anchor Charlie Gibson’s no se nada on ACORN. They might as well display a Good WhiteHouseKeeping seal of approval.

When you’re a community organizer and your chief advisers are Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod, this is what you do.
If it wasn’t for the advice Obama is getting (and he’s been getting it for a long time, let’s not forget he was the first one to day he wouldn’t participate in a debate on Fox News) his health care legislation would be more than a work in progress.
I don’t know whose decision it was but; Obama doing 2-1/2 hours of infomercial on ABC ended up spawning the townhall protests. Instead of engaging the protesters, indirectly, by doing an extensive interview of Fox News, he chose to do 5 shows that only asked him the easy questions and accomplished absolutely nothing. There is no doubt, in my mind at least, that Fox could have put together Brit Hume, Major Garrett, and Chris Wallace, or news people of the same quality, and asked him legitimate questions that the people need answered, and we would have moved beyond the stage we’re in now. Obama has the poorest media advisers on the planet.
bflat879 on October 12, 2009 at 8:50 PM
We report you decide vs. You report we decide. That sums up the view of this community organizers administration. Fox empowers people to think for themselves. That is the polar opposite of the community organizer, union hack in chief.
