Video: White House communications chief whines about Fox News, media for nine minutes
posted at 6:46 pm on October 11, 2009 by Allahpundit
“Let’s not pretend they’re a news network the way CNN is,” she says, flattering the impartial, hard-news sensibility of an outfit that’s recently taken to fact-checking comedy skits on behalf of His Holiness. In fact, here’s what was airing on the “nonpartisan” cable news channel this morning before and after this miserable hack’s appearance:
All morning, CNN has been intermittently running a promo for Anderson Cooper 360, a show that has long billed itself as a classic straight news program with an investigative front man who digs “beyond the headlines” with “many points of view, so you can make up your own mind.” The new promo, by contrast, consists of a woman’s voice, pitching Cooper’s show as, essentially, a liberal alternative to Fox News: “I’m a lifelong Democrat,” she says, “and that’s why I watch Anderson Cooper.” Hmmm. The voice goes on to say that Cooper is the person she can turn to hold “right wing” conservatives accountable. Cooper is not exactly aiming for the political middle ground here.
A guy known for making “teabagging” jokes about conservatives appeals to Democrats? Go figure. Meanwhile, not a word is breathed here about the nightly backrubs that The One gets from Olbermann and Maddow on MSNBC, despite Dunn practically begging for a question in that vein by whining about Fox being aligned with one of the two major parties. Good work, Kurtz.
The clip of Chris Wallace calling them a bunch of crybabies is obligatory in any post about the most media-worshiped president since JFK whining about his coverage, but we’ve used it twice in just the past five days. So below, to administer the coup de grace, you’ll find a new one featuring our favorite liberal. Take it away, KP.

I didn’t say anything about not listening to them. I said she’s on TV and should be more consistent about looking pulled together. When you’re in the public eye in this sort of profession it’s a responsibility. Get real. If you had seen the whole show you’d see the difference between her and Tantaros. KP’s blazer also had a major button-gaping problem. It’s distracting. I want to be able to pay attention to what they say, not wonder why their hair is a mess. I didn’t have that problem with Tantaros.

In your ear dipstick . . . go feed that crap to your Kool Aid drinkers because no one with more than two functioning synapse connections is drinking your garbage. CNN is a hard core left wing propaganda machine followed closely by MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, and the public broadcasting network. That useless gaggle in the White House is beyond stupid.

Unfortunately, we still live in a society where it actually matters more how a woman presents herself than a man…even though men are fast approaching an equal level of scrutiny.
Image mean something…research advertising psychology. We live in an image based society…meaning, we see news as images. How a commenter presents themselves can convey subtle messages of confidence or dissonance. One doesn’t necessarily have to be 100% fashionable, but, at least neatly presented.
Diane on October 11, 2009 at 8:16 PM
Well…..they really don’t call it that now, but moving along, it is interesting that with a near monopoly on the media, (as others have pointed out), total will only do.
Of course, their problem is 90% of the media amounts to only 45% of the total audience relative to Fox these days and probably only 25% when you include talk radio. As with Honduras, they do like pro-socialist strongarming…..

My that was pathetic. That reminds me of the WH snitch website where Obama supporters were to report “fishy” stories about health care “reform”.The Obama administration’s real problem appears to be with the Constitution and the First amendment. The notions of freedom of speech and a free press appear to be inconvenient annoyances for President Obama.I’ve got news for you Mr President you live in the USA not Communist China or Fascist Iran. Citizens have every right to criticize you, your policies and your administration.

The lefties keep up the attack on Fox because:
1) Fox is the easiest target on the right end of the spectrum with a wide audience.
2) They tend to tell the truth – libs hate the truth.
3) Fox doesn’t get on their knees to kiss obummer good morning.
If everything from the center to the right disappeared it would be the far left fighting the not-so-far left.

The Red Eye gets more viewers at 3a.m. than CNN does at 7p.m.! Fox news is #1 in ratings and won’t bend over for Hussein like CNN, MSNBC, and the rest does!
BigMike252 on October 11, 2009 at 8:33 PM
Can you imagine if there was another equally influential channel like Fox News that reported in even greater depth about the individuals and groups that are pushing socialism in our nation? Actual in-depth investigative reporting and then showing the direct collusion with this Presidency and both political parties? Glenn Beck investigative reporting with the serious presentation of a nightly newscast. Daily, relentlessly, giving voice the 50% of the nation that opposes the slow implementation of Marxism.
Fox has some of that but it could be so much more.
I wonder how the White House would react to a news organization like that.
The nation is hungry for something like that.

Sounds like CNN has decided that FNC is so far ahead of them in terms of viewership that they cant catch up, so instead of tying to compete with FNC they’re going to go after MSNBC’s audience instead by pandering to the far left and sucking up to the O’tards.
As for the administrations little whinge about FNC, what they are really sore about is the fact that despite getting so much favourable coverage on all the other news outlets no one is buying the snake oil they are selling because no one is getting their news from those outlets anymore. They’re all watching FOX or getting their news from alternative sources like the blogosphere.
Hellrider on October 11, 2009 at 8:50 PM
I am trying to help Fox by thinking up some new names for them. I really like “The Fox ACORN channel”, “RNC TV”, “The Van Jones Network”, or “The Fox Comedy Channel”.
They are using you people for ratings and money. Look up the definition of the word “Charlatan”. You will see a photo of Fox News under the definition.
By the way if they are so effective at hurting Democrats and their ratings translate into GOP victory, why do we have a Socialist, Marxist, Muslim, Non-American, Racist, president? Did I miss one of the Fox News narratives there?

Drained Brain on October 11, 2009 at 8:58 PM
Seriously?
What GOP politician has been called a Muslim, Marxist, Socialist, Racist, Terrorist on Fox? Fox News calls the President of the United States a racist and still pretends to be a “News” channel.
Fox News cheers for failure of the US and the US President. They seem to have a lot in common with Al Qaeda. Maybe they can change their name to “Fox Al Jazeera”
Decider on October 11, 2009 at 8:59 PM
Fox News, on average, has more viewers during prime time than any other cable news network. Sounds like a good media outlet to maximize your messaging.
It is Obama’s fault not to use Fox to get their messaging out.

Red State State of Mind on October 11, 2009 at 9:05 PM
I’m all about the news on FOX. The one thing I don’t get, is why the same network that does have more conservative opinion shows also has some of the most vile “cartoons” on in prime time (which used to be family time). I don’t know if any of you have seen Family Guy or the other animated shows they run, but they are absolutely vile, saturated with blatant sexual imagery, not-so-subtle bathroom humor and explicit violence – along with mockery of conservative positions. Stuff that you would only see after midnight on Cinemax in the past, and now on prime time network TV.
miConsevative on October 11, 2009 at 9:06 PM
It’s because Murdoch is about the money–he can make money selling conservatives what they want to hear and at the same time rake it in with edgy cartoons. I don’t think he cares too much what the content is as long as it’s profitable (not that he should–he’s not in business to make us feel warm and fuzzy).

1. CNN falsely accused the US of nerve-gassing civilians in Laos.
2. CNN ignored Saddam Hussein’s atrocities against his own citizens for 10 years, just so they wouldn’t lose their precious Baghdad Bureau of Propaganda. Their CEO admitted this in a NY Times editorial.
3. Said CEO himself was soon gone, after being busted for falsely accusing US troops of “murdering” Iraqi journalists.
Can you give us similar examples from Faux News? If so, we’ll talk. Until then, go stand in the corner.
Del Dolemonte on October 11, 2009 at 9:20 PM

The thing is that Kirsten has nice make up and hair is done and people are still complaining. I wouldn’t be surprised if she spent more than hour getting her hair fixed. So it is not about her not caring what she looks like on television. It is petty complaining about how she fixed her hair.

There was a time when CNN ruled the airwaves, particularly during coverage of Gulf War I. Everyone, and every government in the world, watched the coverage. That time is past. The internet was in its’ infancy. Fox network was best known for Married With Children (my all time favorite show).
Stasis is what many people wish for. True change is scary. Not ‘Hope and Change’. Change like deciding nuclear power truly is a path to energy independence. Even France can see this. IRAN, if they were not led by a lying sack of sh*ts, could be a case for this.
Fox News is currently the best option to get relatively unbiased news about the events of the world.
