Norway is a far out of the way, cold, wet, small nobody country in the world and their egoistic politicians must feel slighted for no one listening to their lofty, intellectual Nordic wisdom. Hence they use the Nobel Peace Prize as their only way to inject their politics onto the world stage.

Instead of calling it the the “Nobel Peace Prize”, they should change the name to the “Norwegian Politics Prize”, given to the person or group who most reflects the political opinion of the Norwegian parliament.

Oh stuff it. Ann, unlike Bleeds Brains and similarly moronic posters, is not a mindless slandermonkey who’s sole method of discussion is to spew insults and copied talking points.

When liberals act like demented chimpanzees, we can’t have a discussion beyond “sit down, STFU, let your elders and betters run the show.” But when they can converse politely and with reasonable viewpoints, I’m more than happy to talk.

There are more conservatives needed in the Academy, and I would urge any of you who feel the calling to return to grad school and take up teaching on the college level. Standing with you, Prof. I am a relative newcomer to the Academy, having been a worker and manager most of my professional life. It is a different atmosphere, but extremely rewarding and enjoyable. Fellow Faculty can be challenging, but I like your stealth approach. Mom was right about the whole “catching more flies with honey than vinegar” thing. Glad you are out there!

Evil or whatever it is, something dangerous seems pandemic, on the loose. I remember thinking during my college studies of WWI and WWII that world and domestic conditions as deranged as this would never happen again, at least in my lifetime. Silly me.

Only with Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Dresden–total war–did we finally destroy the evil. But now the world is forgetting, and I fear that evil is loose again and slouching towards Bethlehem.

It’s not so much that he’s a phony, knows nothing about economics, is historically illiterate, and woefully small minded for the size of the task– all contributory of course. It’s that he’s not one of us. And whatever he is, his profile is fuzzy and devoid of content, like a cardboard cutout made from delaminated corrugated paper. Moreover, he doesn’t command our respect and is unable to appeal to our own common sense. His notions of right and wrong are repugnant and how things work just don’t add up. They are not existential. His descriptions of the world we live in don’t make sense and don’t correspond with our experience.

My opinion: Campaign Finance Reform.

That POS had numerous ‘trap-doors’ written into it specifically for the Far Left 527′s who were lined up and ready to go once the ink was dry.

With that one piece of legislation the money-generating framework of the Democrat Party was by-passed and given over the ‘ultra-rich’ Leftists who, by virtue of their huge war chests gave them influence not seen since the ‘Robber Barons’ of the late 19th Century.

The hunger for ‘big bucks’ that tied the DP to the Clintons became an all-consuming addiction that has led your party to this moment in time.

I too was a democrat many years ago; the party I admired turned away from the things I held to be important. While I’m doubtlessly far more conservative [socially] than you, you will have to face your moment of truth if your words are any indication of your mind-set.

There is no Democratic Party left save in name only; those who cling to it solely on reflex are embracing a monster clad in the skin of a memory that ended by the early 1970′s.

My only advice: let your conscience be your guide.

I also strive not to attempt to indoctrinate my students, preferring to give them the tools to employ rational reasoning and common sense to apply to ordinary issues and everyday circumstances.

Here is the key to opening minds and helping them work. Much praise and more power to you for employing this approach.

We desperately need more self-directed, independent and critical thinkers, and less wolves and sheep in our country. This does mean, of course, there will be a diversity of opinion from left to right, which will require debate, as civil as possible, but sometimes heated, and occasional compromise to forge majorities to actually get things done.

Is that any way to run a country?

Why, yes. It is.

The spectacle of a president elected partly on his cool, his seeming moderation and his post-partisanship jamming as much of an ideological agenda through as quickly as possible is not pleasing to the political independents enticed by all those qualities last year. More independents say they lean Republican than Democratic in a recent Gallup survey, narrowing the GOP’s gap in party ID to the closest it’s been since 2005.

When Obama suggested he wanted to be another Reagan, surely this wasn’t what he had in mind. But for now, he’s the right’s best community organizer.

I work in mental health, so I understand how it is to be the voice of conservatism in a sea of liberalism.

Another point – I wonder how our European brothers will feel about the USA with Obama in charge if the Russian bear decides to increase her hungry eyes to the west?? The USA has protected and saved them in WW I, WW II, and the Cold War along with many others outside for almost 100 years.
