It’s not exactly the same, but it certainly is comparable. They’re both in a position of declaring victory when the battle is far from being won.

And yes, Obama could’ve turned it down. But he didn’t. So he believes he deserves it.

You should know better than to agree with crr6. Bush didn’t declare victory prematurely. He declared an end to major combat operations. That was it.

And since it actually was the end of major combat operations, he was of course telling the truth.

This whole “Mission Accomplished” thing is the real-world equivalent of a straw man argument. Put words in someone else’s mouth that he never said, then mock him for saying them.

As funny as all the goofs today are, I feel some sympathy for him insofar as he didn’t campaign for this the way he did for the Olympics.

Well we don’t know who nominated do we? I wouldn’t be suprised if he has some people within the Nobel Committee who he now owes some favors.

Don’t feel too sorry for him AP. Barry and Michelle are going to get a nice big tax deduction for donating that million dollar-plus prize money. That’ll enable Michelle to buy a lot more overpriced designer sneakers and sleeveless dresses. So it’s not like Barry won’t benefit at all from winning the thing.

One thing about the whole “thinness of his record” thing> Of course it’s thin. He’s only been in office eight months and half of that’s been spent trying to deal with the various crises he inherited and the other half has been spent on what will be a defining achievement one way or the other when it gets through. When was he supposed to do the other stuff, and what was the other stuff, anyway?

Give us a break, he doesn’t have to deal with any more than many Presidents of this Country have had to in their first year. (If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen). If he would do his job instead of campaigning for it, he might get more done. It’s bad enough listening to him and all his cronies whine everyday on the television, and now we have to listen to you here? Give it a rest whiner.

As I posted earlier on another thread at HA, he ought to use it to pay for his trip to Oslo to accept his stupid prize. This way the American taxpayers don’t get stuck with another million dollar tab for his world travels to promote “The One”.
