DNC: If you laugh at Obama’s Nobel, you side with terrorists

posted at 11:37 am on October 9, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Oh, and the Taliban too, which must be news to Mark Halperin, Ruth Marcus, Richard Cohen, and Ezra Klein this morning.  George Bush got a lot of heat when he used the “you’re with us or against us” for the war on terror, but he specifically meant nations that had to decide whether to help us fight terrorist networks or choose to hide them or hinder justice.  Politico reports that the DNC now posits that anyone ridiculing Obama is a terrorist sympathizer:

“The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists – the Taliban and Hamas this morning – in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize,” DNC communications director Brad Woodhouse told POLITICO. “Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize – an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride – unless of course you are the Republican Party.

“The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It’s no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore – it’s an embarrassing label to claim,” Woodhouse said.

Even in a political environment where the two major parties send out ridiculous ding-dong reactions to events, this takes the cake.  Woodhouse argues (almost assuredly uncomprehendingly) for a fuehrerprinzip where the head of state must never be questioned or criticized, lest one become a traitor to the fatherhomeland.  Will Woodhouse also start labeling late-night comedians like Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien terrorist sympathizers for their (very) occasional ridicule of His Reverence?  Does Janet Napolitano plan to open a file on Saturday Night Live for last week’s prescient dig?

Clearly, the DNC needs a smarter class of public-relations flacks.  Given this evidence, it should not be difficult at all to find them.  (image courtesy HA reader Mehokie)

Update: Did Woodhouse miss a memo?  Isn’t the White House about to argue that the Taliban pose no threat to us?  Twitterer VJMorton reminded me that the DNC is either a few days behind, or maybe signaling that Obama will dump that rather idiotic notion.  Actually, it’s probably just Woodhouse’s own idiocy at work…

Update II: Don’t tell the DNC, but the Huffington Post has apparently sided with the terrorists:

As the world responded with a mixture of surprise and amazement to the announcement of President Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize, Nobel insiders revealed that the President’s “beer summit” at the White House put him over the top. …

But, according to Ms. Valle, “someone brought up the beer summit, and we all agreed that that was awesome.”

Both have cheap, flimsy and inconsequential garbage for prizes.

Mother Theresa – the fraud:

Anders on October 9, 2009 at 1:11 PM

During the deliberations over the Second Vatican Council, under the stewardship of Pope John XXIII, MT was to the fore in opposing all suggestions of reform. What was needed, she maintained, was more work and more faith, not doctrinal revision.

What does Hitchens care? He will never kneel at a rail or stand in a queue. What does he care?

Her position was ultra-reactionary and fundamentalist even in orthodox Catholic terms. Believers are indeed enjoined to abhor and eschew abortion, but they are not required to affirm that abortion is “the greatest destroyer of peace,” as MT fantastically asserted to a dumbfounded audience when receiving the Nobel Peace Prize*. Believers are likewise enjoined to abhor and eschew divorce, but they are not required to insist that a ban on divorce and remarriage be a part of the state constitution, as MT demanded in a referendum in Ireland (which her side narrowly lost) in 1996. Later in that same year, she told Ladies Home Journal that she was pleased by the divorce of her friend Princess Diana, because the marriage had so obviously been an unhappy one …

Hitchens generously allows for individual faith, just not collective action.

This returns us to the medieval corruption of the church, which sold indulgences to the rich while preaching hellfire and continence to the poor. MT was not a friend of the poor. She was a friend of poverty. She said that suffering was a gift from God. She spent her life opposing the only known cure for poverty, which is the empowerment of women and the emancipation of them from a livestock version of compulsory reproduction.

Christopher Hitchens would cure poverty by destroying their families. What a sick bag of pus.

And she was a friend to the worst of the rich, taking misappropriated money from the atrocious Duvalier family in Haiti (whose rule she praised in return) and from Charles Keating of the Lincoln Savings and Loan.

Wouldn’t you like a friend who shows up and takes your money? Little Miss Suckup refused to have cookies and punch at the White House, saying she never ate in the homes of the rich so the poor would not feel ashamed to give her nothing. She gave Bill and Hillary both barrels on abortion (“What a poverty it is to kill the unborn child”)from the podium they ushered her too. What a kissup, huh?

Where did that money, and all the other donations, go? The primitive hospice in Calcutta was as run down when she died as it always had been—she preferred California clinics when she got sick herself—and her order always refused to publish any audit.

Yeah, get some floor wax and some vases and paint the place, lady! Jes–uh, yikes.

But we have her own claim that she opened 500 convents in more than a hundred countries, all bearing the name of her own order. Excuse me, but this is modesty and humility?

Yeah, what’s with all the bathing the ulcers of the poor? How about some well-appointed pharmacies dispensing the Pill?

The rich world has a poor conscience, and many people liked to alleviate their own unease by sending money to a woman who seemed like an activist for “the poorest of the poor.”

She healed the sick. Some sick people would like to be healed. Crazy of them, but there it is. Of course what Hitchens thinks they really need is a condom.

People do not like to admit that they have been gulled or conned, so a vested interest in the myth was permitted to arise, and a lazy media never bothered to ask any follow-up questions. Many volunteers who went to Calcutta came back abruptly disillusioned by the stern ideology and poverty-loving practice of the “Missionaries of Charity,” but they had no audience for their story.

You know that thing on her head was a habit, right? You know she’s a nun, right? You know her place is run by an order of nuns, right? What kind of drunkard untheist complains of the ‘strict ideology’ of a convent???

Sorry, Clavin, but I already busted this lie of yours on another thread. For those who missed it

Democratic party identification is at its lowest mark since the second quarter of 2005, while GOP ID is at its highest point since the first quarter of 2006, according to Gallup’s quarterly party identification report.

At 48% Democrat or lean-Democrat and 42% Republican or lean-Republican, the six-point gap is the smallest since 2005. Although the number of people identifying themselves as Republican has remained stable, more independents now lean Republican (15%) than Democrat (13%) for the first time in at least four years.

The report is based on five polls conducted of 5,090 adults between July 1 and Sept. 30.

I just read this comment in the UK Times Online about our Triumphant Tinypants winning the Nobull Price for Peace:

Congrats to the author.

Joel Weymouth wrote:

He has established these schools in the Golden Triangle at great personal peril. He was worthy, Obama is not – and it will be a joke in the end. Obama did nothing as a private citizen, as a legislator, and a Senator. Look at his record. He has done nothing as President. The purpose of the award was one last slam at Bush. Okay – but really, what does that achieve in the end. Americans are generally not happy with the loss of prestige and power as the price to have the world love Barack! His opponent in 2012 will capitalize an the discontent an call Obama the president of Norway or Europe , and a large portion of the population will eat that up. In 2012, Europe may just get Bush – Squared or Cubed – and the hatred and resentment of the American people – America power, strong, and isolationist. Britain and Europe won’t like that at all.

I don’t care about the prize. I agree, the Nobel people should have chosen someone else. But Obama didn’t lobby for the award. He was as stunned as anyone else. And he’s going to give the prize money away.

The real fun is simply watching you poor yobbos overreact to everything Obama. I figure that by the end of his first term, most of you will have ripped your own heads off. I find it insulting that Obama was given the award over this guy.

Greg Mortenson, nominated for the prize by some members of Congress, whom the bookies gave 20-to-1 odds of winning. Son of a missionary, a former Army medic and mountaineer, he has made it his mission to build schools for girls in places where opium dealers and tribal warlords kill people for trying. His Central Asia Institute has built more than 130 schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan – a mission which has, along the way, inspired millions of people to view the protection and education of girls as a key to peace and prosperity and progress

But alas, Mr Dope and Chains was deemed far more worthy.

I’ve known the Nobel committee is completely biased – but this is over the top idiotic.

Interesting that so many on the left are questioning it. Maybe there is some hope that the media is waking up from it’s 0bama trance.

I noticed it at work today. Even people who voted for him were against this. I think this could actually hurt him with the public as a whole.

I think we all, as Conservatives, experienced the vile racism and other animosities FROM THE LEFT during last year’s election. It was very clear just who the racists and “haters” were and continue to be…and why the Left says Obama “will gain our reputation back” — they’re courting the same animosities globally.

I believe it is a really excellent job of Photoshop. Who ever did it got the scale and the lighting just right. As to the pictures of Marx and Lenin, save that for another day, I feel certain there will be the perfect opportunity for the application.

If RNC = Taliban

Then DNC = Plantation Party

But the Democrats have been that all my life… No reason to change now…

What a fabuolus costume idea those Nobel guys have given us – just in time for Halloween! Picture Barack Obama, dressed up as the Joker with a Nobel Prize hanging around his neck. Priceless! Let’s see, all I need to pull this together is:

* Power suit – check
* Power tie – check
* Overcoat – check
* Black gloves – check
* Nobel Peace Prize – check (I’ll print one out and glue it to cardboard)
* Obama Joker Mask – check (found one on Amazon)

Now if I can only figure out how to rig a couple teleprompters to follow me around, I’ll be all set!

swanzoid on October 10, 2009 at 11:36 AM

So far I have been called:

Every Curse Word in the Book
A Racist
A Teabagger

Now a Terrorist?

Pathetic name callers have nothing else to do!

BigMike252 on October 10, 2009 at 11:47 AM

Aww SimpleSemen shows up with his DNC party hat! Unlike SimpleSemen, I have actual work to do today so I can’t stay around to poke him with sharp sticks. Everyone else have fun, but remember it’s not nice to make fun of retarded people.

Fishoutofwater on October 10, 2009 at 11:59 AM

I’m late to this party, but if you are already a terrorist and want to really laugh at Obama and his Nobel prize…check out Freeper yesterday and last evening. BHO won everything conceivable/sarc. Funniest things I’ve read in ages!

You are a special kind of stupid. Apparently you are not a part of the productive class of society.

Fucking moron.

daesleeper on October 10, 2009 at 12:20 PM

Cool. First I’m a “tea-bagger”, now I’m a “terrorist”.
Me thinks the DNC doesn’t really know what that word means.

Yellowdog12 on October 10, 2009 at 1:01 PM

Those clowns at the DNC are just so funny.

OMG it’s the leg lamp from “A Christmas Story.” I gave my husband that same lamp for his man cave/office. The photoshop was a nice touch Ed.

Q: Why didn’t Obama get the Nobel Prize for Literature?

A: Having written two books, he was overqualified.

J_Crater on October 10, 2009 at 4:06 PM

I thought Democrats defend/embrace terrorist? One only has to look to the ACLU, Rev Wright, Black Panther Party, Bill Ayers, Eric Holder, Homeland Security’s ‘Over-Seas Contingency’…..
