I’d guess no hearings are scheduled not because the Pentagon doesn’t want them, but because the WH and the Dems don’t want them. They have no intention of letting Gen. McChrystal get any more of the attention and ear of the public.

I like being reminded of Lincoln. Every time I see that image, it reminds me of how great Lincoln was and still is, and how appallingly awful Obama is in comparison. And despite how shallow and selfish our contemporary culture has become that we could produce a President Obama, I still believe:
It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us –
that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion –
that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain –
that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom –
and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
So, regardless of what Obama and his Congress say or do, or fail to say or do, as long as I’m still alive, I shall be devoted to that cause.

As a fellow proud Conservative I am also alarmed by this neophyte President… his arrogance, his naivete and what I believe may be a sinister agenda. His friends on the left are dispicable.
But when I read on a good conservative blog vague references and allusions to assassination it makes me want to puke. Shame on you all who find that funny. You feed right into the left’s attempt to marginalize conservatives. Leave that garbage to the ugly left. We have truth on our side.

Thanks for that quote. Lincoln certainly had his flaws, but he was a great man who saved our country and removed the great stain that we had at our founding.
The comparison Noonan makes between Lincoln and Obama is incredibly glaring. Lincoln, the common and decent man, dedicated to his principles and his cause with great devotion, going to General McClellan’s house again and again, sometimes sitting for hours, waiting for a chance to speak with him. Barry? What is he dedicated to, other than himself?

Can’t speak for anyone else but Obama has been and remains utterly convincing to me: he’s deconstructing the United States of America with his head set on replacing it with something else entirely. He has his eyes set on a goal and that is, to eradicate the U.S.A..
The only possible comparison I could make with that and Lincoln was that just as Lincoln had his eye set on uniting a nation, Obama has his eye set on discombobulating a nation. Like, say, the “anti-Lincoln.”

For the love of God, I agree. Stop the “third party vote” derailment practice.
We did not win two World Wars by seeking third routes to victory, we set about defeating the enemy in one big push by one giant might. Aim hostilities where they belong — on the Democrats, on the Left — and vote them out of office by voting for the opposition.
I’m not a fool here, I realize many Leftwingers infiltrate the GOP as candidates and party-handlers for purposes of “you get a Leftwinger regardless of who you vote for” method, but everyone, please keep your eyes on the goal: defeat the Left in 2010 and 2012.
We will continue to flush the Leftwingers out of the GOP but we first need to regain Congress and the White House. We won’t do it by “voting third party.”

There seems nothing in Pitter09′s previous comments or any comments by other posters that I’ve read that would warrant this accusation. I know that if I did read allusions to assassination, I would push back and report them to ED and AP. So, perhaps Pitter09 is having a bad day.

Peggy Noonan has driven me up the wall many times. However, she was a great writer for Reagan and she can still weave a wonderful story. As a Big Tent Reagan Republican, I’d be very happy to have Peggy back in our tent, sometimes infuriating me, but mostly writing wonderfully on our behalf. I hope she continues to see what a disappointment Obama has turned out to be for her, and continues to write great editorials expressing her disappointment in Barry.

I was referring to the very real and present problem to the American public and our discourse as to a HIRED GROUP OF BLOGGERS (so-called) who Holder has engaged to sit at publicly-funded terminals and write comments on blogs/sites that carry opinions that Holder/Obama don’t “like”.
They’re hired to pose as commenters and then to question and raise doubt about the opinions that aren’t gungho on Obama and his Administration’s doings.
Which is an abuse of power and public ofice by Holder as it is also by Obama, but don’t let such a thing get in their way of attempting to further corrupt the public discourse.
