Clinton robot Lanny Davis to Michelle: You’re quite partisan, aren’t you?

posted at 4:40 pm on October 8, 2009 by Allahpundit

To cleanse the palate, some light comedy from this morning’s F&F. I’m loath to knock him given his willingness to incur nutroots wrath by admitting he respects the boss, but who’s he trying to kid with his testament to The One’s support for the public option? Read the speech to Congress, he says. Okay, let’s read it:

Now, I have no interest in putting insurance companies out of business. They provide a legitimate service, and employ a lot of our friends and neighbors. I just want to hold them accountable. The insurance reforms that I’ve already mentioned would do just that. But an additional step we can take to keep insurance companies honest is by making a not-for-profit public option available in the insurance exchange. Let me be clear – it would only be an option for those who don’t have insurance. No one would be forced to choose it, and it would not impact those of you who already have insurance. In fact, based on Congressional Budget Office estimates, we believe that less than 5% of Americans would sign up…

It’s worth noting that a strong majority of Americans still favor a public insurance option of the sort I’ve proposed tonight. But its impact shouldn’t be exaggerated – by the left, the right, or the media. It is only one part of my plan, and should not be used as a handy excuse for the usual Washington ideological battles. To my progressive friends, I would remind you that for decades, the driving idea behind reform has been to end insurance company abuses and make coverage affordable for those without it. The public option is only a means to that end – and we should remain open to other ideas that accomplish our ultimate goal. And to my Republican friends, I say that rather than making wild claims about a government takeover of health care, we should work together to address any legitimate concerns you may have.

For example, some have suggested that that the public option go into effect only in those markets where insurance companies are not providing affordable policies. Others propose a co-op or another non-profit entity to administer the plan. These are all constructive ideas worth exploring. But I will not back down on the basic principle that if Americans can’t find affordable coverage, we will provide you with a choice.

Even with the bulliest of bully pulpits, during a nationally televised speech before a joint session, the best he could do was “I like it, but let’s keep an open mind.” In fact, the whole point of that Tribune story I linked a few days ago about his backroom campaign for a government plan is that he refuses to pound the table and demand that Congress include one. Which sounds a lot like voting “present,” doesn’t it?

There’s your background. Now, anyone have Davis’s e-mail address? There’s a card I want to send him.

Something smells funny to me. This from a lefty who apparently has watched and listened to EVERYTHING that Michelle has ever said and hangs out at HotAir. I think we have a twisted nappy head on our hands.

Of course you can’t, you are a right wing extremist. A terror to the American way of life. Good thing your kind is now irrelevant in this country.

Afrolib on October 8, 2009 at 8:00 PM

Keep thinking that, moron…I hope all libs think that way, It will make it all the more sweeter when the Dems lose the House…

I have a great idea for a political show…Base it on ESPN’s Around The Horn. 1 far left, 1 center left, 1 center right and 1 far right…let them discuss topics of the day…If someone interrupts, mute them. Let all sides get their say, then move on…people will be given a chance to respond. Most people want to hear all sides without interruption and then make up their own minds.

(So tired of people interrupting others when discussing…no matter the side. Usually that means they can’t win the argument on the merits…)

No you are wrong, someone once stated that Obama is no smarter then the average high school drop out, and she defended him and said “Oh yes he is”…

I haven’t heard the Demorat talking heads saying anything but the talking points handed down from the White House/DNC.

At least Ms. Malkin and others like her speak their minds, and quite obviously are not getting RINO talking point memos.

Lanny is a phoney who has teamed up with phoney “Christians” such as Jim Wallis of sojourners and Jonathan Merritt who is trying to get the Southern Baptists to endorse this Global Warming nonsense in the so called “civility movement” with the aim of getting those pesky Conservatives to hut up and learn to submit. He is a waste of airtime.

Damn, who knew this was all you had to do to be a political hack in DC.
I could misquote and attack you personally with made up stuff like the rest of these lefty dogs.
I draw the line at leg humpin, though.

Thank you for your liberal adult display of stupidity.

This person demonstrates the mentality of liberals who feel so entitled to slander anyone that does not agree with their mindset, do not allow opposition to use the same tactic, otherwise they will have to sue U.S.

MSGTAS on October 9, 2009 at 9:59 AM

Michelle is as partisan as Lanny is. However, how many observe how quick Lanny is with calling people on their manners and answers questions with “I already told you but you were not listening, while I was interrupting you.”

Lanny also does not understand that No is a complete sentence.

MSGTAS on October 9, 2009 at 10:23 AM

OK, if you are a liberal on TV, follow these rules: 1. When your team is being exposed as wishy-washy or as liars or as inexperienced – laugh the whole time your opponent is speaking. This shows everyone how stupid your opponent is. 2. When your argument is based on one point of “fact”, shout that “fact” and accuse the opponent of not having their facts right. 3. Deflect. If your opponent points out the short comings of your side, immediately point to someone from the other side whom you perceive to have done what your side is being accused of.

Simple and straightforward, liberal people buy this behaviour as indicating truth.

Calling someone “partisan” seems to be an insult for the left. However, being partisan for the correct cause, for the sake of the country, is a good and proper thing. I can see why this would be confusing for the left.

LoL. The look on Michelle’s face on the last frame of the clip is priceless.
