Video: The obligatory “kids sing for ObamaCare on CNN” clip; Update: Singer critiques ObamaCare afterwards
posted at 7:46 pm on October 7, 2009 by Allahpundit
Via Drudge and Weasel Zippers, this one’s a got a few redeeming factors that the “Obama loves me, this I know” genre of child hymns lacks. For one thing, it’s about policy, not the glory of the king. For another, rewriting the lyrics to Miley Cyrus’s new song is more creative than the usual fare. And beyond that, does no one recognize these kids but me? They went mega-viral last year during the campaign. This is practically a follow-up single to a number-one hit. No wonder CNN booked them.
Update: Via JWF, watch the very beginning starting at around 20 seconds in. I remember this kid as being the lone McCain supporter in the group last year when they were interviewed after performing. Now you see why.

Blowback

Nope, not in the tank for anyone here.
Just another reminder of why Fox’s “RedEye” beats CNN’s Campbell Brown in the all important demographic (ages 24 ~ 54).
*RedEye airs at 3AM while Campbell Brown airs at 8PM. 3AM vs. 8PM. Right… after dinner, a couple hours before that first Cup o’ Joe. (Sorry, had to work an MSNBC joke in there some how.)

CNN delivers…but will they fact check the lyrics?
d1carter on October 7, 2009 at 7:51 PM
These kids have no idea what they are singing about. I seriously doubt they had a meaningful debate after being presented with all of the facts before they set out to complete the assignment given to them by their teacher. All they know is they get to perform on tv and maybe someone will notice them.
Heads full of mush.
BTW: Not a white face among them.

Those kids are clearly still in the Obama is the greatest President ever because he’s black. It’s the kind of racism that runs rampant among blacks. Skin color, not accomplishment is all that is important to the filthy lying coward’s cheering section.

I look at it this way. If healthcare passes with a government option, every one of those kids will be working in a factory or a fast food restaurant directly after high school. There will be no jobs available to them. Sing it up, these are your glory days.

Is this all it takes?
Seriously, what’s stopping those of us on Hot Air from forming a group, getting matching costumes, writing a snappy song, and making a video?
We can rap and sing about his dreadful policies that are hurting Americans and go on Fox News to sing it live!

Schadenfreude on October 7, 2009 at 8:04 PM
Two things:
1) That was disgusting. It may have been about policy and not the man, but it was clearly skewed toward Obama. Hell, they even threw in a Joe Wilson reference, as if any of those kids know who he is.
2) What the hell is CNN thinking?! In the last few weeks two hot topics of discussion were how Obamacare opponents were all racists and whether it was appropriate for school kids to be singing about Obama and his agenda. And they thought it would be a good idea to have a dozen black kids sing a pro-Obamacare hymn, on their set no less?!
No wonder even MSDNC is beating them.

What kind of parents let their kids do this… for any bloody politician?
It’s certainly not as bad as leaving your 13 year old girl in the hands of, say, a Polanski, but it wreaks nonetheless.
Yes, they get a little tube time, but at what price ultimately?
I would say the same if it had been for Ronald Reagan.

The reason why it’s so easy to indoctrinate kids with socialism is because socialist ideas are simplistic and childish. The socialist adult can easily exploit a child’s innocent understanding of such concepts as sharing and cooperation, which they’ve picked up from listening to Big Bird and Elmo. Hey kids, sharing and cooperating with your peers is the right thing to do, so why not apply the same happy concept to entire nations and use the state – which is just there to look after you, like your parents – to enforce it and make it work?
Bingo. One brainwashed child, who now thinks that anyone who objects to such a view must be “mean.”
In contrast, the principles of conservatism and libertarianism are more sophisticated and not easily explained by colorful puppets and wacky animation. Understanding why freedom and liberty are so important takes some degree of intellectual maturity. It’s hard to turn anything but the simplest of ideas and emotions into rap lyrics and so you’ll never see a bunch of kids on CNN singing cute songs about economic freedom.
The left realized decades ago that the only way to sustain discredited, illogical ideas is to plant them in the minds of children whose rational circuitry hasn’t yet fully formed. This is why they have put so much effort into seizing control of the public education system over the years. That’s why private and home schooling is so important to the future of America.

What do these children know about healthcare and nanny states?
I do not get this at all. Are singing children supposed to persuade me to support Obamacare? Really, unless one of them can explain a COBRA, class II medical devices and why Canada now has underground private healthcare – what is the point here?

How did I know AllahPundit would be playing up the “it’s not that bad” angle? Did these kids sing a song in support of Bush’s tax cuts that lead to a record 52 consecutive months of job creation? Record aid money sent to Africa? Or a better comparison, Bush’s (failed) Social Security Reform bid?
ALL of this is disturbing, dude. Just because these kids aren’t saying “We’re All Equal in His Sight”, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be furious about this. But then again, AllahPundit is in the business of mocking Glenn Beck while ignoring all of the truly important things that only the “crazy man” is talking about. (i.e. countless radical associates – why?, Apollo Alliance, Tides Foundation, SEIU, STORM. How about the dollar? Yeah, just nutty conspiracy theorists think it could keep devaluing and be replaced, right?)
RightWinged on October 7, 2009 at 8:47 PM

justltl on October 7, 2009 at 8:47 PM
Whoever wrote the lyrics for that song needs to go back to elementary school. The grammar was atrocious. Prices wouldn’t be “raising”, they’d be “rising”. The teachers at that school aren’t a very swift crew, I guess. Of course, they’re singing for a Precedent who still hasn’t been able to master the correct usage of the indefinite article, so I guess they didn’t want to make The Precedent feel too bad about his own pathetic English skills.

By the way, are there any black people out there that find this offensive? Surely these kids couldn’t just speak about the issue or sing country or rock (still would be wrong, but you get my point). Why do they put these kids out to sing and hip-hop dance. At least this time they didn’t use criminal rapper TI’s tune to get their message across, although this Cyrus song is rather hip-hopish, no?
Anyway, it just reminds me of this part of one of Dave Chappelle’s stand-up routines:
That’s what I feel like these teachers are sort of saying to these kids. “Hmmm, you’re all black. Let’s make you dance and rap instead of just speaking intelligently.” Also, let’s not forget that the entire rap industry is plagued with crime and immoral behavior. Should schools be pushing them towards this genre?
BTW, AllahPundit, I wouldn’t have recognized the song had it not been the one she danced with a stripper pole to. Didn’t catch it on MTV, but it was all over the news.
