Video: Obama knocked for not meeting with McChrystal by … Meghan McCain?

posted at 8:53 pm on October 6, 2009 by Allahpundit

I think this is the first time I’ve seen her take a shot at The One. I knew she had it in her!

Too bad she doesn’t have a better reply to Melber, though. The topic here is Maverick accusing Obama’s NSA, James Jones — who’s been friends with McCain for 30 years and might well have been his NSA had he won the election — last week of pandering to the left by downplaying the risk of a Taliban takeover in Afghanistan. Jones took exception to that on the Sunday chat shows, leading McCain to double down on Monday:

On Monday, McCain shot back, telling the FOX Business Network: “Anybody who believes that you can hand over the country or significant parts of the country to the Taliban and not have to worry about Al Qaeda returning and working with them and becoming a base for attacks against the United States of America has no understanding of the region or the nature of the enemy.”

McCain went on to criticize Jones’ handling of the war in Iraq, saying his decision to send troops to Iraq’s border to “kill Al Qaeda from the outside” was “wrong” and that the Obama administration should be mindful of that as it plans its military strategy in Afghanistan.

“General Jones was wrong about Iraq, and the fact is we need to get this decision made and we need to get help to those 68,000 that are over there, and more of them are in harm’s way the longer we delay,” he said.

Melber’s right that McCain hasn’t offered any evidence that Jones is in the tank and Meggie doesn’t accept his challenge to do so, but I’m not sure if that’s because she doesn’t have any and is simply reflexively defending her pop of if there’s something going on behind the scenes here between McCain and Jones that she’s privy to. Note what she says when Melber asserts that The One is working with the chain of command and talking to his generals regularly: “That’s not what some of us are hearing.” McCain has plenty of friends in the Pentagon who could be whispering to him about what’s going on between them and the White House these days; the question is, would he have really said something to Meggie about it? Hmmm.

Goldfarb, who used to be a McCain insider himself, wrote a post about this a few days ago that’s worth reading as a gloss. Would Jones really play politics with something like this? Well … maybe.

Of course not. Meghan ate all of them.

Utterly Amazing!

Team Hopey/Changey has answers for the Auto Industry,Banks,
HealthScareCare,etc,

but they have no answer for Afghanistan, and yes they are playing politics with the Lives of US Military personnel!

Deja Vu—————-Viet Nam Part Deux re-do!!

I’ve heard that phrase on the AM radio talkradio top of the
news hour spots, and its almost like the Liberal Party is
trying to steer Afghanistan in that same direction!

When the Anti-War Moonbats start protesting, and Liberal
politicians start claiming that their constituents are
telling them,to with-draw,and the fake polls start,and
CNN has their 24/7 hit pieces of a surrender,

then you will know, that wag the dog surrender is starting as
a grand distraction to shore-up Hopeys poll numbers,as well
as distracting from Obamas grand failure in leadership!!

If Team Obama falls, ergo does Team Liberal!!

We’re supposed to take seriously the comments by a young woman who’s only qualities to opine on matters is that she was the daughter of a Presidential candidate?

Moreover, she is discussing public policy on the Joy Behar show?

This is a serious discussion of policy?

No, it’s silly and so is Ms. McCain.

Steve Z on October 6, 2009 at 10:10 PM

I don’t know if you are too young to remember or just forgot but this was probably the first undoing of that administration. Carter was trying to evoke the idea that the idea he was acting on the concerns of future generations over the objections of his dissenters. The public responded by wondering when Amy Carter became the “missle czar.” My point being he did not get a pass on this nonsense.

In just a few short months, the filthy lying coward in the White House has reached the same point it took Carter two years to achieve. The public has little faith in the bastard and he is still strutting around as if he has a mandate. It only escalates the predictable end.

Sixth Guard on October 6, 2009 at 10:02 PM

You should townhall protest and turn it into a “listening” engagement.

If, in a controlled environment (i.e. not on a liberal stage) her leftist-progressive leanings are checked, and she realizes she’s on the wrong side of so many issues, she could be saved yet.

No food joke intended here, but that could be what’s eating her up on the inside – and is showing on the outside. She may at her core be a lot more conservative than she’s spouting right now, but can’t come to terms with it.

Your college club should pay for her to go sit on Robin Of Berkeley’s couch.

HotAir highlighting the Joy Behar Show for NEWS COMMENTARY?!

Since her involvement in the 2008 campaign, why would it surprise anyone to note that Meghan overhears her father’s conversations, whether she’s part of discussions at the dinner table or simply observing or listening? It would take a very insulated person to find it surprising that normal people overhear what’s happening around them. Of course Meghan is aware of her father’s official statements. The McCains are a close family.

As per the twit being bright, even if Sen.McCain coached Meghan, she only learned one line, a very good point, but not the complete summary of her father’s position. As ever, she says what she thinks but is unable to defend her positions with logic or substance. Her right to feel personally about this circumstance is legitimate, but is not substance for a logical debate on Obama’s record. But it was “right” for Joy and the Behar audience.

Speedwagon82 on October 7, 2009 at 10:24 AM

I can understand people not agreeing with her ideology, but all the fat jokes are just too much. That’s something I expect from the left. They(the left) never can debate actual issues with facts and resort to personal attacks every time. I’d like to think people that are conservative are more mature than that, and have real arguments with her point of view. I don’t really know much of what she thinks as I never read her opinions. Like others have said, she is where she is because of her father, so why should I bother? Like all Americans she has a right to her own opinion, right or wrong. Rip on her views all you want but leave out the personal attacks. No one is perfect, and saying ugly things isn’t the Christian thing to do. Would you do it if Christ was in the same room? Splinter in the eye, judge not…well you can see where I’m coming from…..

GunRunner on October 7, 2009 at 11:33 AM

Meghan McCain is a liability for any conservative/GOP commentator who may wish to make a reasoned critique against this administration and it’s policies. She has no foreign policy experience, education, or wisdom, so why is she attempting to lecture anybody, including Joy Behar, on the proper strategy for Afghanistan?

What she may hear from her father is a far cry from reasoned, well thought-out arguments for troop deployment in the Middle East. She needs to stay off these talk shows, read a few books, take the time to know the arguments, and stop using her father as a shield of protection from scrutiny of her political statements.

She’s a know-nothing little pop-tart that Allah is infatuated with, and that’s all she is.

Oh, and one other thing, if she is serious about being taken as a legitimate commentator on political issues, then get rid of the “Valley Girl” accent!

She sounds like a bubble popping Junior Higher talking about the cute boy in second period – “He’s like, ya know, like, super hot, and stuff.”

That’s hilarious! You have no clue why the fat jokes are told, yet you presume to stand in judgment of those who DO KNOW EXACTLY the context behind them. Typical Christian loon.

I knew she had it in her!

She’s got something in her. A couple hundred cinnamon rolls, a side of beef, 500 Margaritas, and a Fannie Mae store…
