Paying for pre-existing conditions is like running down to the insurance company to pay for your house thatis ALREADY on fire!

Not really. I work in auto insurance and that type of conduct is simply put Fraud. However there is a vast difference between property and health. Property can be burnt down and be rebuilt or replaced. Dame to your health can have permanent and/or long lasting effects. I'd sooner burn down my house than gamble on my health.

That may or may not be an acceptable arrangement but you are way off base to suggest that it is BS.

Why terminology may have been strong but I won't argue probabilities with you because in the end you and me are gonna disagree regardless and I can tell their probably would be no compromise.

It would be more economical for my family to pay the outrageous "fee" for choosing to abstain from the government's crap system and buy our care out behind the urgent care under the cover of darkness. We've got good insurance so I'm sure we're under the umbrella of massive taxation for being responsible and covering ourselves presently. We would certainly be put in a very tight spot financially if this passes - but we will NEVER submit to the "Nanny in DC." She best keep her teats to herself lest she eventually find herself on the wrong end of a citizen-wielded mastectomy.

What is WRONG with the chicken-sh*t GOP!? Unless the Dems outright made Obama king of the USA, what better material could the Reps possibly need to crucify them on the airwaves?! Give any of us (minus trolls and moderates) on HA thirty seconds of primetime coverage and I can guarantee we'd lay out a better offensive against Herr Obama and his minions than any anything we've seen come from the RNC thus far.

GET A PAIR!!! Our country is at stake, you fools!

Paying for pre-existing conditions is like running down to the insurance company to pay for your house thatis ALREADY on fire!

It will make insurance more expensive than it is now. Insurance companies are in the buisness of risk so if the risk is higher so is the price! Plain common sense......

How is that demanding that you pay for my condition?

spypeach on October 5, 2009 at 8:17 AM

You missed the point entirely. It's not about you and your pre-existing condition. It's about the pool of individuals and how health insurance is priced. Rattl3r was claiming that he/she should had the right to not pay any more as an individual seeking insurance as he does through his employer. If an individual is out there seeking insurance and expecting to pay the same rates they do as part of a pool of workers, then, yes, they are demanding others pay for them.

To not include pre-existing conditions in pricing health insurance is essentially demanding that others subsdize your condition

A lot of people who have pre-existing conditons have healthy periods where they pay thousands into the system without submitting high claims, and we pay premiums just like you. How is that demanding that you pay for my condition?

So you’re telling me with my epilepsy that I’m shit outta luck? My employer’s healthcare plan basically in essence forces the insurer to cover me. But if I bought through BCBS on my own without it being through my employer then I’d be shit outta luck. My premium would be so high I couldn’t afford it. I oppose the public option but jacking up premium’s on people with pre-existing conditions, especially conditions they were born with is bullshit.

I agree, I also have chronic condition that I've had since I was 14, I was a Air Force brat so I was covered till I was 18, after that, I had to make sure I had a good job so that I could get on a group plan, so that I would be covered. There are times I have been without Insurance, but I worked through it, usually the doctors would let me make payments. I'm married now, and my husband has a good job with good insurance so I'm covered now. We pay high premiums for the best option, and I have gone several years without really having to use insurance much, and then there are times that we use it a lot. My point is I agree with you that having a pre-existing condition should not cause us to have to pay more. I've paid into the insurance system for over 20 years now, sometimes they make money because I don't have any claims, and sometimes they lose money when I'm sick, that's just the way it goes.

I really hope that Obama and company fail to pass this bill, it is just wrong. They need to keep there hands off of my healthcare.

You don't get it. Health insurance is all about probabilities. Nobody is sitting around and figuring out how to "jack up" premiums to stick it to epileptics. To not include pre-existing conditions in pricing health insurance is essentially demanding that others subsdize your condition. That may or may not be an acceptable arrangement but you are way off base to suggest that it is BS.

Any problem with setting up the public option as plan B if and only if private insurance premiums spiral out of control? Why, yes: Between requiring all Americans to carry insurance and requiring all insurance companies to cover people regardless of preexisting conditions, the final bill’s practically guaranteed to generate that spiral.

Cut the Mc Cain, Collins, and Snowes loose right now GOP.
Their weasily personalities only bring down a possibly viable party. This bill, which will destroy the middle class employer paid insurance, will be the death knell to anyone that touches it.

Dude, I don't think we can afford to wait for a FIRST set of persecutions (prosecutions?), and I don't think many people intend to wait for a first set either.

Any GOP participation on this bill and we own it. Period. If they float this thing and it sinks like a big poopy, the first thing they're going to do is say "But the GOP signed on! It's THEIR fault."

The GOP MUST stand united against any bill that changes the healthcare system into what the libs want. Until Congress can come up with something that actually helps the system, I say the GOP needs to stay hands off. The dems have the votes to pass it, I say let 'em pass it. Let THEM take the responsibility.

I know there are many who are afraid the left will get all the "credit" when their healthcare bill works out. Trust me, there isn't a single option on the table by the left right now that can succeed. Period. The crap they're forcefeeding this nation is going to backfire. Badly. And they know it.

There is a reason they don't want to pass it without GOP support: They do NOT want to take the blame when it fails.

We've got to stop playing into their hands and GIVING them bright shiny pairs of jackboots to kick our arses with.

The lefties simply think that the idea of making ANY profit from sick people is immoral. Well, now that I think about it, they think that making profit at all is immoral, unless, of course it is THEIR profits ("Attn: Mr. Moore, you're limo is waiting").

The Dems want to make every doctor, nurse, and their assistants in the US members of either AFSMCE or SEIU. Not only do they kill off the evil profiteers that actually create medical innovation and new medications, they get kickbacks from the windfalls of their union thugs.

It's amazing how transparent this power grab is and yet so many people buy into it. Do so many people think that these sleazy politicians are more interested in providing health care for us unwashed idiots than in making sure they have a huge source of union slush-funds, kickbacks, and corruption???

SIGH!!!

What's "in a bill" these days seems a moot point.
Recent history has shown that, in this congress particularly, legislation that few have read gets pushed through - and even then changed after the fact.
Any conservative who wishes to retain his or her seat in 2010 would be wise to stay far away from any sense that they endorse this travesty.

IF they push Americans too hard into this serfdom crap I think they're going to have more than elections and polls to worry about.

They want punitive actions for people that don't play along. That means they make criminals of protesters and decent, honest Americans that want to retain their right to choose.

What they will get in return is burned buildings and piles of dead. Guaranteed it'll come to that. Not when the first group of people are initially prosecuted, but when they are sentenced for basically not being progressive socialist fascist lemmings and the government refuses to back down and change the rules. When they go for the second set of persecutions, there will be blood.

I can only hope that the anger and violence is directed where it needs to be, at the pigs at the "top" that did it to us over our objections.
