Inevitable: Chicago pols blame Bush for Olympics loss

posted at 7:15 pm on October 4, 2009 by Allahpundit

Makes sense. What better way for the international community to express its contempt for Bush’s policies than by … publicly humiliating the guy who got elected by repudiating him?

“There must be” resentment against America, the Rev. Jesse Jackson said, near the stage where he had hoped to give a victory speech in Daley Center Plaza. “The way we [refused to sign] the Kyoto Treaty, we misled the world into Iraq. The world had a very bad taste in its mouth about us. But there was such a turnaround after last November. The world now feels better about America and about Americans. That’s why I thought the president’s going was the deal-maker.”

State Rep. Susana Mendoza (D-Chicago) said she saw firsthand the resentment against America five years ago when she was in Rio de Janeiro. “I feel in my gut that this vote today was political and mean-spirited,” she said.

“I travel a lot. … I thought we had really turned a corner with the election of President Obama. People are so much more welcoming of Americans now. But this isn’t the people of those countries. This is the leaders still living with outdated impressions of Americans.”

U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) said she was approached by a consul general at the plaza as they waited for word Friday. “He said … he was hearing that there wasn’t enough time for Barack Obama to dispel the old image. … But I don’t know if that’s it.”

The implication, of course, is that it would have been justifiable and possibly even advisable to shaft Chicago if the Bushitler was still president and had gone to make the pitch. Good luck reconciling that with the left’s magnificent faux outrage at the right for not putting aside politics and rooting on America the city the corrupt Daley machine this time around. Frankly, for once in his life, Mike Lupica’s dead right: Chicago got lucky, whether they realize it or not.

Here’s George Will on “This Week” floating an alternative theory. And he’s not the only one.

Update: A nice point from the comments: Chicago was selected as a finalist for the 2016 games last summer, when the Chimperor was still president. So much for Bushism poisoning the city’s chances.

Something that needs to be understood at some point, is that Obama did NOT lose the 2016 olympics for Chicago. He didn’t get it for them either, but that was mostly because even his ego and a fawning media was not nearly enough to make the city of Chicago look like a good place for people from aroudn the world to go for any reason. Chicago itself lost the chance for the olympics. The place is a cesspool in about every way you can use the term, and politics can’t kill the smell. Hey Chicago, you want some respect? Get rid of the goons and the trash and the criminal politicians. Clean up you act. Stop whining about racism all the time. The rest of the world does not enjoy that on their vacation time.

I also like the Beatles “Get Back”:

Obama was a man who thought he was a leader

But he knew it wouldn’t last.

Obama [only] left his home in Chicago, Illinois

For some Liberal Party brass.

Get back, get back!

Get back to where you once belonged

Get back, get back.

Get back to where you once belonged.

Get back Obama. Go home!

Get back, get back.

Back to where you once belonged

Get back, get back.

Back to where you once belonged.

Get back Obama!

Blaming Bush for Obama’s failures had its shelf life expire some time ago, and amongst an ever-increasing number of the electorate this excuse is falling on deaf ears. It’s only the elitist leftists, wannabe elitist leftists and the O-bandwagoners who refuse to believe that Obama can do wrong…that there must be something else to blame.

I would not be surprised in the least if some of Obama’s campaign messages for the 2012 elections will include something along the lines of “Eight of the past 12 years were fraught with poor leadership…” etc. etc. etc.

Left Coast Right Mind on October 4, 2009 at 9:00 PM

Although this time Obamoleon was not able to deceive the neighbors he was still able to trick his own sheeple. The scapegoat was yet again Snowbush. Whenever anything went wrong it became usual to attribute it to SnowBush. In fact many of the claims begin to sound totally ridiculous to the objective mind. Of course, Squealer Jackson and his crew’s mission is to keep everything clouded in the minds of the sheeple.

Anyone who believes this is somehow Bush’s fault has gone beyond stupid, beyond delusion, and run headlong into deep psychosis.

Narcissist always need to find someone else to blame. I looked up what defines a Narcissist personality disorder as defined by the Mayo Clinic. They listed 16 attributes and Obama hit on 11 of them, which means best he has a moderate disorder. It is no suprise that he, and those he associates with, can not see their own faults. Those that are normal observing this charateristic behavior would say that the person is delusional. The Narcissist of course would see it as the person who disagrees is delusional and often they belittle them as a way of making it as if they are right. With Obama we could even say that it consitutes a psychosis.
As for as being stupid, most successful narcissist, and we have to say that Obama is a very successful one with convincing others that he has the power to make things happen, are not stupid, but their compulsion may make it appear so. One interesting common observations of Narcissist is that they tend to be good speakers but suffer from cognitive defects in other areas. I would say compulsive lying might be one of those other areas, but I think that is another mental disorder that often is found with Narcissistic personalites.

I don’t know,,, I mean,, It’s really not the same thing as calling him a fascist. Bush really isn’t a Fascist and I just don’t see that here. Sure,, maybe something Bush did was a little Fascist,, but that’s not the same as being a fascist. Obama might do something that is a little Democratic, that doesn’t mean he suddenly believes in democracy. Bush did stupid things at times,, but he is not a fascist. Obama is to his core.
But,, I can tell you are trying to apologize in a round about way. I accept it. Thank you.

Liberals simply cannot take responsibility for anything. They blame others for all of the world’s problems. “I inherited this mess” and “failed eight years” are just two examples.

Liberals can’t take responsibility for their own wrongdoings, failures or shortcomings. Instead, they wait around for welfare checks, handouts and maintain their enitlement attitude.

Obama owns America’s problems now. The bas-tard needs to man up, perhaps ask Michelle if he can have his ballz back, and started being presidential.

These are just bitter liberals who are not used to hearing the word “no.” The brought out Oprah and the filthy lying coward in the White House- they thought they had it in the bag.

I forget which pundit made this comparison but the Chicago organizing committee (not ACORN this time) thought they could steamroll the IOC the way these people usually intimidate the Chicago Aldermen into submission. That being said, I just have to relate the conversation I overheard in the ABC store yesterday. Two very early twenty-somethings were clearly buying booze for a party they were going to last night. It was clear they didn’t have a clue about alcohol and their primary concern is what would taste the best when mixed with Diet Coke. I was still supressing laughter so violently when I went to check out the clerk probably thought I was having a seizure.

they want to hand it over to every illegal , islamic terrorist and criminal they can register to vote via acorn..

I told you ..
very soon the only way to STOP the damned liberals
will be by rthe use of FORCE..

and you know what i believe?
that obama, peolosi and the democrats all ready are preparing to delcare martial law and deploy military
weapons for use AGAINST US the citizens..

Dont believe me ?
think i am a crack pot?
Ok..

But i point to
Pennselvania last week were the government deployed such weapons
I point to obama, pelosi the democrats all joining with nepalitano in her DELCARATION that ALL us veterans
Bible believing church going law abiding citizens
all need to be watched and put on terrorist watch lists..

At the same time these SCUM BAGS in washington
let ALL of the Islamic terrorists (their buddies) loose

I call this TREASON…

For years I’ve wanted to do something with windows movie maker and I finally did! It’s like I just gave birth and this is my baby!! It’s a little slow in some parts but I think it sorta turned out nicely.

Wow,, I never realized just how powerful Bush was,, and obviously still is. Amazing. Not even “the one” can overcome his reach.

JellyToast on October 4, 2009 at 8:26 PM

Little do you know, JellyToast, just how true your words really are. I’ve been involved in politics for eight years. One thing I learned early on is that the “winners” who constantly carp about and belittle their opposition or predecessors only do so for two reasons: Fear and Arrogance.

Fear that they (the winners) will not measure up to their predecessor’s legacy.

Arrogance because the winners believe they are better than their opposition or predecessor.

I believe that with Vain Hussein we’re seeing both things taking place at the same time. IMHO, this combination makes him emotionally unstable and extremely dangerous.

With his narcissistic personality, it must drive him crazy when his minions report back to him about all the comments on conservative blogs such as Hot Air.

The Once knows he’s not fooling us, and that just kicks his fear and arrogance into hyper-drive; even more so now that FLOTUS is getting a beat down by conservatives for her bumbling, fumbling comments to the IOC.

All Vain has in his bag o’ tricks is Bush-bashing and name- calling. So what? We’re all big boys and girls; we can take it.

I am so glad that Chicago is such a bright shining city on the hill…

No graft, no corruption, no political machine, no union goons, no ACORN, no dank stench of the Liberal Democratic Marxist/Socialist ideology, no honor students being clubbed to death in the streets, no high paying jobs for political appointees that just make everything worse, decade in and decade out…

Yeah… it must have been Bush’s fault.

Thank you JT. Very nice production. A good overview. Shows the overriding purpose of the march very well.

My signs weren’t shown, must have been in a different part of the march. Can’t understand why I’m not in this video. We know the dinosaur media said it was such a small march.

I think we did some good. The stakes are very high. Let’s keep the pressure on.
Plan on sharing your video with my friends and some doubting libs I know.

Although I know the thread is concentrating on the Olympics, I loved the part when Mr. Will put Hurricane Katrina in her place for insinuating that there is a constitutional crisis because Gen. McChrystal is speaking out about Afghanistan. She kept stating that civilian control of the military was in jeopardy. Comedy gold.

Cindy Munford on October 4, 2009 at 10:42 PM

It could not be more obvious that the only strategy that the democrats have been successful at is “blame it on Bush”.

Here we are in October, 10 months into the “hope and change” administration and these idiots are still blaming everything on Bush.

I am sure Micheal Moore will be hitting the airwaves next week blaming his bombed “Capitalism is Evil” propaganda on Bush also.

liberals have nothing else.” I hate Bush” is the only thing that has unified them and gotten them votes over the last few years.

Now that there policy failures are up front for everybody to see,the only thing they can do is still “blame Bush”.

Just remember…in liberal land, if Obama had landed the Olympics, it would have been because of how great he is and how much the world loves him.
But he got his arrogant butt handed to him so somehow it’s not his fault…it’s Bush’s.

liberal pretzel logic at it’s worst.
