Wonderful: State Dep’t already backing off Obama’s two-week deadline for Iranian nuclear inspections

I should have used a screencap of Obama for this but I think I’ve exhausted Hot Air’s arsenal on Olympics posts. Anyway, in case you thought that the Copenhagen debacle is today’s big international embarrassment, think again. The One laid down the two-week deadline yesterday at around 3 p.m. ET; this dispatch from The Hill was posted at 2:23 this afternoon. The big “ultimatum” didn’t last 24 hours.
A State Department spokesperson on Friday signaled the president’s mandate that Iran has two weeks to permit inspections of its recently unveiled uranium refinement plant was not “written in stone.”
“I don’t think that there’s a hard-and-fast deadline,” State Department Spokesperson Ian C. Kelley said during Friday’s press briefing, after a reporter asked what the consequences of Iran’s inaction might be.
“I think that we’ve made it quite clear this was a matter of some urgency; that we expected [Iran] to take urgent and concrete steps to open up this facility, and not only just open it up but also make sure that we were able to — or that the IAEA would be able to — talk to some of the engineers there and see documents and plans,” Kelly added.
No worries: Kelly promises that we’ll be coordinating with IAEA chief Mohammed ElBaradei, who, in case you missed last night’s Ron Paul post, you may recall is a notoriously corrupt Iranian stooge. How grim do things look now? So grim that even RINO HQ, a.k.a. the Daily Beast, is publishing pieces today warning that Obama’s getting hustled by both Iran and Russia. Exit question: How far will our ironclad, line-in-the-sand two-week deadline end up being extended? Over/under is the end of the year.

George Friedman at Stratfor has been all over the Russia/Iran connection. Russia is more than happy to use Iran as a sharp stick in the eye of this President. Russia has absolutely no desire to help extricate the US from a looming Iran problem. Quite the contrary. It is telling when Obama was so easily hustled to give up Poland over the promise of diplomatic assistance with Iran.
The ship of state is adrift and Sarkozy’s comments couldn’t have been more spot on.

The President has hoards of people around him to help him to not look like an idiot, why is it that this guy can’t seem to connect the dots. Why would he set time lines that are obviously unrealistic. He has nobody to blame for his ineptness, it is all on him. He spends more time sticking his foot in his mouth than trying to run the Nation in his grabasstic way.
I know Obama is an ambitious guy, at his current rate, he will surpass Carter as worst President in modern history by years end. It took Carter four years. This guys legacy will be bankrupting the United States Of America. The Won is helping Soros achieve his life’s dream. It makes one wonder if it was the script from the beginning.
I can only hope that the people will not stand for it. It will be no small task, it will take THE PEOPLE! Our next opportunity will be 2010, let’s make it happen.

I have a feeling Zero is going to sit on the sidelines watching the world go by thinking there is no threat against the US. He’s not going to push anybody to do anything. I think if Israel goes after Iran most countries will be behind Israel execpt Russia, Cuba, and Venazuela.

Fox news has reported that the Iranians have also backed away from letting the UN inspect their nuclear facilities.
Mohamed al-Baradei is supposedly on his way to Iran this weekend to try and work things out.
Of course with his and the UN’s track record, working things out means figuring out how to hide the fact that Iran is pursuing the bomb.
More cat and mouse from the Iranian regime who has nothing to fear from Obama or the international community.
Especially after Obama cuts and runs in Afghanistan.

Hillary has nothing to do with this story, and the Hate Hillary sentiment is pretty ridiculous to me.
She backs the general on Afghanastan and takes many positions that are much firmer than Obama on Iran.
So it’s just the usual Hate Clinton stuff here.

In 2012 Hillary Clinton is going to be championing the Democrat cause, the welfare state, a diminished American foriegn policy and class/race/religious strife. You will have to help fight her, or stand with her. Pretending you’re itching to cross over so long as you can maintain your personal admiration for her is a nonstarter. Though I love that picture of Hillary, it’s better suited to situations where she herself is making a fool of herself. For example, consider her browbeating of the student about channeling her husband.
For this post, I might have used that great picture you guys have with Obama looking straight into the camera, a hand over his eyebrows as if he’s shielding his eyes from the sun or searching for something.
I would have suggested the caption: “Dude. Where’s my deadline?”

There were some really rotten apples in the Bush admin, too, and Michelle Malkin rightly took that cronyism to task then as well. Because that is what you do: attack “principles” and behaviors, not parties in toto. For every Condoleeza Rice, you have a Michael Brown. You can’t always toss the baby out with the bathwater.
Say what you will about the Clintons, but there is an EPIC “DLC” (Clintonian) v. Nutroots (Obamabot) schism in the party, as well as the White House. Obama has neutered Hillary time and time again, and has blatantly done so vis-a-vis his Shadow Cabinet, especially regarding Susan Rice.
Those of us who are Hillary-supporting ex (or still current) Dem partisans are mostly centrists and do not like Obama. Hillary hatred is counter productive. That’s really all I can say on the matter.
If you want to plug your ears and chant “EVERYTHING WITH A (D) IS BAD!!! LALALALA!” all the power to ya, bro. To my “independent voter” ear? It’s no better and no worse than the silly leftists that scream that Sarah Palin is a neo-con crazy wackjob because she has an (R) after her name.
