Comedy gold: CNN anchor in utter disbelief as Chicago is eliminated

posted at 12:00 pm on October 2, 2009 by Allahpundit

I’ll keep updating the other thread but this one’s too much fun to bury there. An instant classic, courtesy of Greg Hengler.

Update: While you watch, a question from John Miller to meditate on. I fear we all know the answer, my friends.

Oabama will now cement every Jimmy Carter analogy by boycotting the 2016 Olympics.

Dork B. on October 2, 2009 at 12:34 PM

The political clout that will be lost on this could have been avoided. but instead a history making trip had to be made by “The Won” to make a personal bid for Chicago.
Rookie mistake aligning himself so strongly to a crap shoot. Once again inexpierence and naivete show out.
Perhaps if he hadnt spent the last 8 months apologizing for us as a country and promising how we will do better the results might have been different.

UPDATE: Axelrod spinning now on CNN: “I don’t view this as a repudiation of the President or the first lady…” Plus some blather about “internal currents”, like the “IOC President pushing for Spain”.

“I think there were other things at play there that we simply couldn’t overcome”

Rahm Emanuel, the Chicagoan who is chief of staff for Obama, has an answer: “You know, we’ll make sure they get some good seats once Chicago does host the games.”

Watch out, though, they’ll blame the right on anti-Americanism now.

It w/b hilarious if the IOC snookered the One into coming over, telling him he’s got it in the bag…and then turning on him for the world drama.

The One is just the one, limp, and always was…wake up America.

I love this quote:

CBS 2 Olympics expert Mike Conklin said the defeat points to the United States’ lack of standing within the International Olympic Committee, dating all the way back to the U.S. boycott of the Moscow Olympics.

Then how do they explain the 1996 Atlanta Games and the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Games?

bloggless on October 2, 2009 at 12:37 PM

I doubt it. I think it was a no-go from the start. The IOC just wanted the prestige of slapping the president of the USA in front of the world. BO has shown the world how weak he is and the IOC wanted to show they could make him dance to their tune. In less then a year we have gone from the most powerful nation on earth to the laughing stock of the world. It will not get better.

So let me see if I understand…

3 African Americans, one who is ranked as one of the richest people in the world, one who is the most powerful man in the world and one who is married to the most powerful man in the world and a top 1% income-earner herself… these 3 people make the “sacrifice” to fly in private jets and stay in the lap of luxury in order to pitch “why” the Olympics should be held in their hometown of Chicago… and all they can come up with is AN APOLOGY about how their country has strayed and just needs to be given a chance to show the world that we have repented of our sins?!?

“Over the last several years, sometimes that fundamental truth about the United States has been lost,” Obama said. “One of the legacies, I think, of this Olympic Games in Chicago would be a restoration of that understanding of what the United States is all about and the United States’ recognition of how we are linked to the world.”

Does this not appear to be the definition of insanity to anyone else but me?!?

The nerve! The hypocrisy! And yet another attack on America coming from the President… the treason!!

Chicago, with all of their corruption, doesn’t deserve the Olympics… but based on what she has done for the world and her own people… black, white and every other color of the rainbow… AMERICA deserves the Olympics any day of the week!!
