Comedy gold: CNN anchor in utter disbelief as Chicago is eliminated

posted at 12:00 pm on October 2, 2009 by Allahpundit

I’ll keep updating the other thread but this one’s too much fun to bury there. An instant classic, courtesy of Greg Hengler.

Update: While you watch, a question from John Miller to meditate on. I fear we all know the answer, my friends.

Apologies and Rationalizations

Answering a question above:

The One thinks that this country and its economic system are intrinsically evil and, therefore, all of His tactics, in addition to those of the Chicago machine and ACORN, are virtuous.

Asking a question:

Can we Americans start an international campaign apologizing for chucking Him into office and onto the world stage?

IlikedAUH2O on October 3, 2009 at 2:19 AM

Priceless. This one is going on My Favorites.

Has there ever been this kind of brouhaha in the MSM over an Olympics host city selection? I certainly never remember seeing anything, and I know we were in the running at least as recently as the late 90s b/c we got SLC. I have never seen such carrying on as this.

“Reality keeps a harsh school, but a fool will have no other.”
–anon.

Did I have any faith at all that this slap in the face would bring any , ah, educational benefit to the elites of Chicago, I could sleep better at night.

It is the certainty that absolutely no lesson will be learned that keeps me awake in the wee, small hours.

Even a narcissistic, insulated, and cozened President cannot ignore the smart that comes from a rude reality slamming shut the door on one of wishes.

At least I “hope” this could bring some change in his behavior…

Nawww…

From the Times in London:
Obama’s Olympic failure will only add to doubts about his presidency

“There has been a growing narrative taking hold about Barack Obama’s presidency in recent weeks: that he is loved by many, but feared by none; that he is full of lofty vision, but is actually achieving nothing with his grandiloquence.

Chicago’s dismal showing yesterday, after Mr Obama’s personal, impassioned last-minute pitch, is a stunning humiliation for this President. It cannot be emphasised enough how this will feed the perception that on the world stage he looks good — but carries no heft.”

albill on October 3, 2009 at 7:45 AM

Whazzup?! in Chicago. “Nein, so geht es nicht.”

Obama fans are poor sports. Lack grace in winning and lack cool in losing.

I’m glad for Rio. THEY want it, they got it. For all the rhetoric of “spreading the wealth” you see that Obama only does so selectively. Sheesh, it’s Brazil’s “turn” to host. If I were going to attend the Olympics, I’d rather go to Rio than Chicago, especially in the summer. Who wouldn’t?

And like Conan televised with the naked T ‘n A shaking on Rio streets, Chicago never had a chance snagging the popular vote. Movers and shakers? The thought of Michelle’s ass or worse yet Oprah’s ass compared to a Rio carnaval girl’s ass motivating votes, can’t win for losing.

Chicago, the world’s just not that into you. Get over it.

Obama, you’ve gotta transcend Chicago if you’re going to amount to anything good.

I AM RELIEVED. We don’t want another headache, especially with an impotent potus running amuck in office, spending all of his time on the road and from the totus. CUT OUR TAXES, Mr. President. And take you lumps like a man, not a weenie. Buckle down and do your homework from the Oval Office.

Isn’t this the same guy who was interviewing a woman from Africa who said she liked President Bush and that he has done a lot for Africa? Harris had the woman repeat her comment again to make sure she meant to say President Obama, but she repeated the comment and again said she liked President Bush and he did a lot for Africa.

Poor guy couldn’t believe an African would say something good about President Bush and not President Obama.

Look out for all the stories of how corrupted the IOC is and how Chicago would not offer money for votes.

Barry: I won.
IOC: No. Rio did not you panty waisted weakling.

Barry: But Michelle is a super model.
IOC: No. Her arse is too big. It starts at her neck and runs down to her feet.

Barry: I’m strong.
IOC: No. You live with your mother in law.

Is Anyone Really Surprised That Chicago Didn’t Get The Olympics?

Another Black Conservative wrote:
This was truly a fool’s errand. Chicago is broke like church mice and had little business trying to compete for such an expensive prize. Obama has far more serious matters on his plate and it was irresponsible to take time for what has been traditionally a local issue. Furthermore the cost of flying both Obama’s to Copenhagen is as highly irresponsible, given the tremendous financial strain our nation is under.

As a conservative living in Chicago I am in a small minority and face that prospect every day. Having said that, it’s a wonderful city! These ignorant comments in no way reflect the reality of the vibrant city that is Chicago. Yes there is crime, as in any major city, and I attribute much of that to the liberal’s banning of handguns which leaves only the criminals with arms. I have spent time in every major city in this country and none hold a candle to the “City of Big Shoulders”. If we could only loosen the grip the dems have on the local government then Chicago would have a chance to realize it’s full potential. The government corruption has little to do with Chi-Town having one of the best, if not THE best skyline in the world, world class museums, restaurants, architecture, festivals…..I could go on and on. Save your uninformed petty rants for something you actually know about you limp-wristed weasels!

As parodied on Rush, the ‘One’ placed too many demands for new events ‘Drive By(e) Shooting’, ‘Weightlifting, Prison Style’, ‘High Diving from the Sear’s Tower’, and finally ‘Holding your Breath in cement shoes – while swimming in the Lake’.

In reality, those associated with the Presidents Circle (of Jerks) did not head the public’s opinion (the majority of those in Chicago and Illinois did not want the Olympics.

Meanwhile ACORN goes International After 34 years of successfully building power for low and moderate-income families in the United States, ACORN is expanding. We have begun a new program to build partnerships with grassroots organizations in other countries. Through these partnerships, ACORN will help to strengthen democratic movements for social change abroad, while continuing our efforts building power for immigrant communities in the United States.

It’s true about Chicago. After growing up in much smaller Milwaukee, 90 miles to the north, I never had that wonderful feeling of meeting panhandlers on every one of my trips to Chicago. Not just one pan handler a trip, but several. What a wonderful experience.

Having lived in the Chicago area for a year and doing lots of work there still, I would not want to have the “world” brought in to see one of the worst citys we have. This is an excellent illustration of the lack of mental acuity in the mainstream media today. A batch of mental midgets have infested our newsrooms and have convinced the Affirmative Action Pinnochio Presdidente that he has clue.

They refuse to report double digit unemployment, rampant corruption, epic failure both nationally and internationally and look so desperately for a positive achievement to hand their hero that they are out on the end of the limb for the guy only to have the limb hacked off by a bunch of IOC members.

This is embarrassing in the extreme and on so many levels.

What the Hell are our colleges turning out journalists, or urinalists. Common it ain’t rocket science, premed, physics, chemistry, engineering or even Business Administration or Economics, it Journalism and its pretty damn easy even for imbicils you would think we might find a few someplace other than Fox News!

greggish on October 3, 2009 at 5:34 PM

And why not? Anyone with any sense whatsoever knew this was a no win for Obama and a potential embarrassment to America. The moron and his advisers are so enthralled with themselves that they cannot see the forest for the trees. The humiliation they are having to endure might just open their eyes and they’ll realize the election wasn’t about Obama, it was about the hope for America that he sold. But now you liberals can see what informed Americans saw during the general election. Obama is a narcissist who only wanted to gain the presidency for his own promotion and the “Hope and Change” he sold was a bill of goods.

Slowly but surely, the ignorant Obama supporters are having their eyes opened to the true nature of this Marxist. By election day 2012, the Obama facade will be stripped bare and he’ll be run out of Washington with his tail between his legs and his balls in Michelle’s pocket.

Had BO not gone, this would not be news. How many times have they given an olympics’ vote like this a lot of publicity? When it came to Atlanta, almost nothing happened out side of Atlanta.

I live in Dallas and we were up for the olympics a few years ago and all I saw on it was on the local news they said we didn’t get it. It was about a 10 second blurb on it.

So does anyone believe that the Messiah would have spoken on bringing the olympics to Dallas if it was Dallas instead of Chicago? Of course not! Like everything else, it is all about him and nothing else.
