If they had even done 5 minutes of research on the google they would have learned how many hurdles that US has to overcome just to be “tolerated” by the IOC…let along liked. There is currently a long standing financial dispute doing on between the USOC and the IOC. That factored in prominently. Couple that with fact that Rio just blew them out of the water with their presentation. It focused on how they would pull it off (without raising taxes–ultimate positive PR for the IOC and the Olympics), and how it would ultimately be to the benefit of the IOC to pick them. Only continent other than Antartica that had yet to host an Olympics. One of the Top 10 economies in the world that had yet to host and Olympics.

Barry just talked about how it would benefit him, Michelle, Chicago, and the US (in that order)

I’m shocked! Shocked to learn there are politics involved in the selection of a host city for the Olympics! How dumb, naive, and politically deaf could Alexrod have been? Of course there are politic involved. The fact they apparently did not know that going in is testimony to how utterly incompetent Barry is.

Two things.

Can’t help but notice the complete non-consideration of any objective criteria by Axelrod and folks like him, in trying to understand why they lost the Olympics; for them it’s always straight to politics, and never anything but politics.

Also: Can’t help but notice the complete lack of presentation by the press of any objective differences between the Olympic bids, or the cities themselves. Seems they can’t be bothered to even look at any differences, or report on them.

(Disclaimer: Maybe I just haven’t tuned into the right media sources.)

Hey! Maybe he can get the Special Olympics to Chicago!

Axelrod, a used car salesman, who failed to consult with his manager. In the case of the Olympics, it was not politics it was the people. The public finally made their voices heard – they did not want the Olympics.

The result, the egos and the profit of many in the administration were shattered because the people were able to speak up and overcome the administrations dictates, leaving them looking at empty houses, pockets, and arid land.
