Pelosi: Moron who accused GOP of wanting people to die quickly shouldn’t apologize
posted at 3:03 pm on October 1, 2009 by Allahpundit
A communique from the conscience of our nation, who was so troubled by Joe Wilson’s outburst that she not only made sure he was censured — after he apologized to Obama — but then proceeded to tear up publicly over the state of political discourse in America, just to let you know how much she cares.
How much? This much:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) says there’s no reason for Rep. Alan Grayson to apologize for his “Die quickly” remark, since Republicans have made statements just as outrageous as his.
“If anybody’s going apologize, everybody should apologize,” Pelosi told reporters at her weekly press conference. “We are holding Democrats to a higher standard than their own members.”
She deemed the flap over Grayson’s remarks a distraction from the healthcare debate.
“Typically, Republicans would like to use this as distraction because they have no plan,” Pelosi said.
I’d call her a hypocrite and a disgrace but, let’s face it, those ships sailed long ago. Meanwhile, here’s a snippet of Teacups on CNN last night, clearly relishing his new role as lunkheaded lightning rod. He’s all about working together, don’t you know, even though (a) according to Cantor, the GOP leadership hasn’t been invited to the White House to talk health care since May and (b) calling your opponents “neanderthals” is, at best, a mighty roundabout way of getting to the road to bipartisanship. Exit schadenfreude: As of today, his House seat’s been downgraded from “leans Democratic” to “toss up.” Keep talking, Grayson.

To get back to the point worth hammering again and again….right now, in this political landscape, what does whatever republicans believe have to do with the price of tea in China? Makes for fun scapegoating if you are on the other side, I suppose, but anyone with a working knowledge of government understands that Grayson’s party has a huge advantage in both houses and has a leftwinger’s wet dream in the White House. If they are in agreement on something, it will pass, and it doesn’t matter what the republicans think about it.
They don’t have their own party in order, because many of THEIR voters aren’t with them on this, but by all means keep blaming the republicans.

Nancy Pelosi is the worst kind of hypocrite. I am getting so sick and tired of the double standard in Washington. If a Republican does something they bring out the lynch mob. Hang them from the highest tree and everyone gets to take a wack at them. However, if a Democrat does something equally if not more offensive well….maybe he misspoke, or he was morally justified in his words and actions. Clearly the democratic party has no shame.

Don’t anyone ever tell me there’s no difference between Democrats and Republicans. Did the GOP lose its way in terms of fiscal responsibility? Yes, but they’re making amends. And even at the height of their out-of-control spending, they never would’ve sunk as low as to circle the wagons around the likes of Rangel, Dodd, Frank, Murtha, and Grayson.
The Dems don’t give a crap about anything but power. They don’t care about decency, ethics, laws, the Constitution, or the will of the people. For them, the ends justify the means and whoever stands in their way(even ordinary citizens), be prepared to be taken out.

Vashta.Nerada on October 1, 2009 at 3:06 PM
We’ve seen this from Obama many times. Here’s the procedure:
1. Announce to the press that you’re being bipartisan.
2. Have the most leftwing staffers in Congress write up a mammoth bill.
3. Tell Republicans that you expect them to show support.
4. When challenged by the opposition, remind the press how cool and bipartisan you were the whole time.
Fortunately, I truly believe that Obama will be the last president, of any party, to be able to get away with this BS.

Then we can expect this story in reverse.
WashJeff on October 1, 2009 at 3:25 PM
Pelosi covets, and nothing more. To fit her wants, she changes her stories as needed, and moves the goalposts. But she doesn’t know, really, what she wants. So, she has no real base of standards in her heart and head.
Watch Roseanne to get a clearer picture of Nanzi Pelosi.
The fun part, eventually to come, is when Nanzi is shown to be her own political demise. When the Dems tire of her and remove her as Speaker, she’ll be more shrill and demanding.
As others have said, invest in popcorn.

“We are holding Democrats to a higher standard than their own members.”……..Democrats facing scrutiny include the Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, John P. Murtha of Pennsylvania, for his close ties to the defense lobby firm PMA Group, which is under federal investigation; House Ways and Means Chairman Charles B. Rangel of New York about a number of tax issues; Rep. Jesse L. Jackson Jr. of Illinois over his reported effort to persuade ousted Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich to appoint him to fill President Obama’s former Senate seat; and Rep. Jane Harman of California, who reportedly was taped in 2005 by the National Security Agency purportedly agreeing to help seek leniency for two accused Israeli spies in exchange for help in lobbying her appointment to chair the House Intelligence Committee.

Mark Steyn and others have weighed in repeatedly on this general topic.
Conservatives keep pointing out the hypocrisy of the liberals in a largely futile effort, because the latter have no morality as some of us understand it. They’re pointing fingers at conservatives strictly as a strategy. They themselves will say and do virtually anything to gain and retain power.

I understood the purpose of their rants and insults when Bush was president. I don’t understand what their payoff is from this behavior now? Are they just trying to distract us from the fact that they can’t get their own members to go along?
Why do you insult voters? What do you gain by antagonizing voters who disagree with your policies, especially when those who disagree are in the majority?
If you’re trying to negotiate or change minds, you use soothing tones and do a sales job. You don’t scream at the prospect who is resisting the sale. The only thing that I can figure is that the points in their sales pitch are indefensible. You don’t see this behavior from people who are acting from power.
