Jimmy Carter: I never said Obama protesters were racist

posted at 3:38 pm on October 1, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via Breitbart. Evidently the entire country, including the White House, misunderstood what he meant by “intensely demonstrated” when he said, “I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he’s African-American.” That’s the money quote from the interview that aired on NBC on September 15 — just six days after Joe Wilson’s outburst and three days after the 9/12 Project’s massive rally in D.C. Compare and contrast the before and after below. I wonder which Obama aide was tasked with dialing him up and insisting upon this highly nuanced bit of revisionism. Rahm, you think? Or is this an Axelrod special?

Brother Billy would of been a better President. Dumber than a stump, but not any trouble because he was always drunk.

What’s also funny is those who were defending his original race card mongering statement are now under a bus of his own. What do they say now….??

I don’t think he does remember or recall what he said and did. Ronald Reagan could suffer from Alzheimers but not Jimmy Carter?

Dr Evil on October 1, 2009 at 9:16 PM

I think since his remarks about Palestine- his apartheid comment. Some have wondered about Carter’s mental stability. The weird thing is it’s never discussed, not like all the speculation about Reagan and his mental faculties. Who knows maybe the Democrats don’t even know there is something not quite right even for Jimmy Carter.

Dr Evil on October 1, 2009 at 9:22 PM

Technically…he didn’t call the protestors racist. Sorry guys, it’s a fact. What he was attempting to say, however awkwardly presented, was that the majority of the particulary “intense” anger towards President Obama is based on the fact that he is black. I have know way of knowing whether this is true or not so I will not speculate or defend Carter’s comments. I do know that the people holding signs at tea-parties, saying go back to Kenya…are pretty much racist. It’s the same as saying, “Go back to Africa.” There are almost always racist signs out there, just like there were always the “Bush = Hitler” signs during the Anti-War rallies. It happens. But to deny that there is a racist element, however small it may be, is disingenuous and fairly ignorant. It is also ignorant to label a whole movement of people one thing, because of the actions of a few rotten apples. Just sayin’…

he can say whatever he wants, it doesn’t change the fact that he was the worst president ever before zero the anti hero, and generally, this man is a bag of festering pus.

I hate this jitbag. All I want to know is where he’s buried when he finally kicks off (painfully too, I hope) so I can go empty my bladder on his grave. This jackass hack caused me many problems in my youth, and if I can’t personally punch this piece of crap in the face as payment, I’ll save my pee for a week just to empty it all on his dead and buried face.

That describes a little of how I feel about this SCUMBAG.

No, don’t instantly play the racist card just because this withered up old fool did. Those signs at the tea parties need to be taken in each different context. Some of it is birther context, which is not racist, others are zero is a socialist, progressive, fascist context, which he is.

I’m not denying there are racists out there, but don’t even try to say they are all right wingers. Carter is a racist too, is he a right winger? The KKK was started by WHO again? Racism does exist, but just because obambidumboasshat is half black does not mean all criticism of him is automatically racist. It’s ignorant to say and, you guessed it, RACIST to say that as well.

@StoneKrab

The nub of the gist here is not whether any of the Tea Partiers were racist, but whether ex-president Carter has told a bare-faced lie. He has. Parse the videos all you want, Carter said:

An overwhelming proportion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man.

That doesn’t at all sound like he is referring to a fringe, but to most of the people who disagree with Obama. StoneKrab, if you have any intellectual honesty you will admit this is true

Tyrone Slothrop on October 1, 2009 at 9:51 PM

In his need to be relevant, he’s irrelevant. In his need to be necessary, he’s unnecessary. In his need to “never lie” to us, he’s a liar. Two regrets I have in my life, the two votes cast for this fraud.

okay…what does any of this have to do with what I said? You agreed, “there are racists out there”, so what’s your beef? No race card played here, just stating the obvious. You should re-read my post, because it looks as if you are putting words in my mouth.

StoneKrab on October 1, 2009 at 9:22 PM

This is parsing.
Had he wanted to say “an incredibly small majority of the protesters were motivated, in part, by racism,” he could have.

Instead, he made a broad statement, leaving himself room for exactly the kind of reinterpretation you’ve offered.

I don’t think he’s senile.
Just hate-filled, and bitter toward a country that refused to recognize his greatness.

It’s only true if you believe the tea-partiers animosity towards Pres. Obama is “intense”, or if it’s just a small group or “fringe” that are “intense” and the rest are just disenchanted. I believe there is a difference. If you believe the majority of the tea-party protestors are “intense”, then you should say that, and see how well that sits here at HA. I dare you…lol.

I base this belief on the fact that hundreds of thousands (if not more than a million) ordinary citizens arrived in Washington, and in cities around the country, on their own dime, and arrived by bus, car and train, without support from any union or special interest group.

Dare accepted.

If you’re wondering, I think we’ve moved beyond the “determined” stage to “intense” only because of the rapidity with which Obama wants to change everything top-to-bottom, left-to-right. Pure Statist and I reject it vehemently.

See below:

determined

de⋅ter⋅mined
-adjective
1. resolute; staunch: the determined defenders of the Alamo.
2. decided; settled; resolved.
3. Grammar. (of a phonetic feature) predictable from its surrounding context.

intense

in⋅tense
 –adjective
1. existing or occurring in a high or extreme degree: intense heat.
2. acute, strong, or vehement, as sensations, feelings, or emotions: intense anger.
3. of an extreme kind; very great, as in strength, keenness, severity, or the like: an intense gale.
4. having a characteristic quality in a high degree: The intense sunlight was blinding.
5. strenuous or earnest, as activity, exertion, diligence, or thought: an intense life.
6. exhibiting a high degree of some quality or action.
7. having or showing great strength, strong feeling, or tension, as a person, the face, or language.
8. susceptible to strong emotion; emotional: an intense person.
9. (of color) very deep: intense red.

The women who interviewed Carter in the first video clip above actually was sympathetic to him and helping him out.

What a bunch of crap!

Furthermore, she did NOT even play his remarks back to him, or read the transcript of his remarks from when he actually DID say that most of the animosity toward BarrackHussein Obama is because he is a black man.

Jimmy Carter, and women interviewer, YOU DID say that!!!!!

Liar, liar, your pants are on fire!!!!!

Your tongue is black, that’s how we know you are lying, Carter!

Don’t these “Journalists” ever do their homework?

Why didn’t the woman have the good in her possession at the time, and why did she stroke him with her soft, motherly, “I understand, dear child. There, there. You did not really mean that now, did you?” BS?

It’s an articles of faith on the Left that minorities can’t be racists.

Why?

They will tell you that since minorities don’t have the power to enforce their racism, they can’t be racists.

Bullcookies – the definition of racism doesn’t include any type of ‘power clause’ – you CAN be a racist whether you can do something about or not.

But for the sake of argument, let’s accept the Leftist’s illogic at face value and examine whether Obama can be a Racist.

Obama is arguably the most powerful person in the world,

Therefore he has the power to enforce his racism and so by the Left’s own ‘logic’ he CAN be a racist.

He judges people based on the color of their skin instead of the content of their character- that is RACISM.
Obama CAN be a Racist, by the Left’s own logic, and He IS a Racist.

He’s a politician . . . and you know a politician, any of them, is lying when their lips are moving.

Lighten up on the worst ex-president in my memory–Jimmy Carter. He already looks pretty good in comparison to President Obama (PBUH). It took Beau James 4 years to trash our economy–The Messiah has done more damage in 9 months!

Jimmy Carter is just warming up the chair for the worst ex-president evah–The One will get this honor in 2012.

Wow Jimmy! You are still the worst president this country ever had and BHO is taking a close second. Say,…aren’t you the guy who called President Obama a “…Black Boy….”??!! I seem to recall seeing some video of you saying that. You are a lying sack of crap Jimmy! Why don’t you just go retire and sit on the the porch because obviously you can’t run with the big dogs. You are still a bitter dissappointment after all these years. Shut the hell up dumbass!!!

You lie Jimmeh!

MCGIRV on October 2, 2009 at 1:35 PM

Jimmuh is consistently wrong, consistently stupid and consistently anti-Semitic. Points for consistency I guess.

SKYFOX on October 2, 2009 at 1:39 PM

Guess he heard from more than a few people.

AnninCA on October 2, 2009 at 1:46 PM

He’s not only the worst president ever, but a bitter, mean, hateful and senile old goat.

justltl on October 1, 2009 at 8:40 PM

Worth repeating except the slur on goats. Goats are lovable creatures

Jimmy: A born again Christian who needs to get Saved. He should check the Bible where it says a Liar will not enter heaven. Pitifull.

jarhead0311 on October 2, 2009 at 2:55 PM

Define “fringe” Jimmah. FOX News? Hot Air? Michelle Malkin?
How thin is he going to slice this peanut?

RobCon on October 2, 2009 at 3:56 PM

The One NEEDS Jimmy out there spewing what ever the heck he’s currently spewing – if for nothing more than contrast. The squeaky, anti-Semitic ex president gets all the attention.
