“Political payback”: Michelle on Obama’s Chicago Olympics cronyism
posted at 10:00 pm on September 30, 2009 by Allahpundit
A fine illustration of the answer she’s given to critics of her book: No, it’s not that Obama and his inner circle are any more corrupt than other political chieftains, merely that they’re not any less corrupt, contrary to what the Hopenchange mythos would have you believe. That said, I politely disagree with my beloved boss’s assessment of The One’s “warped priorities” in making the trip tomorrow. As I said before, if the IOC cornered him on this, he has no choice politically. And it’s not as if he’s neglecting any duties on Afghanistan; he held a three-hour national-security meeting on the war just this afternoon. Plus, the left used to forever complain about Bush heading off to Crawford, as if to imply that he wouldn’t have a phone or a video teleconference hook-up just in case something somewhere went to hell; The One will be similarly appropriately outfitted on Air Force One, I’m sure. He’s getting on a plane, making a speech, then coming home — unless, per Bill Kristol’s prediction, he heads off for an impromptu Afghanistan visit first. What’s the big deal, really?
Fun fact: Olbermann’s segment tonight on Obama’s Copenhagen trip was entitled, I kid you not, “Is the GOP anti-Olympics?”

Blowback

I politely disagree with the idea that you use your head for something other than a hat rack.

Its awesome how Michelle just digs up all these connections of corruption. How does she find all this stuff out? I guess someone has to do it but she is doing a hell of a job. Keep digging Michelle!
Hannity has the second highest rated cable news show, still leading Beck. Dropping Colmes is turning out to be a stroke of genius. Over 2 million people saw this segment. Congratulations to the FNC for dominating cable news!

LOL. What a clown. It’s reminiscent of John Gibson asking people why liberals hate Christmas – hate it so much that they declared WAR on it!
Anyway, it’s kind of a good strategy, politically speaking. Take something that just about everyone loves – Christmas, the Olympics, cute puppies, or whatever, and then claim that your political opposition hates that thing.

Violence in Chicago continues.

Such a happy place for everyone involved in the Olympics to visit. Don’t forget to pack your bullet proof vest and helmet. How can anyone promote this city with all of the problems. The only thing we need to worry about in Rio is wether or not everyone is wearing clothes.

I’m all for him going overseas.
I’m just against him coming back.

Regarding the Ubermain fun fact, if a tree falls in the woods and there’s no one there to hear it, does it make a sound? If Keith Ubermain says something assinine on the telly and no one watches, is it relevant?

South America needs hope and change. The olympics have NEVER been there. I say it’s time for athletic justice.

This administration is so “Mickey Mouse” as they say. And why in the world would we want to focus on and bring world attention to one of the most corrupt and crime infested cities in the U.S. anyway? I mean isn’t there another major U.S. city we could offer up that hasn’t been corrupted and ruined by democrats? Baltimore…nah, Detroit…nah, L.A….nah, New Orleans…nah, Philadelphia…nah, D.C…NAH. What a pathetic state we’re in.

Are you really this stupid, or is this parody?

Chicago has too much violence. It’s not a good place to have the olympics. That city needs Rudy.

There are an awful lot of low-lifes in Chicago. Not a lot to work with there. Too many on the dola for far too long.

Exit question: How much does Valerie Jarrett look like Judy Baar Topinka without make up?

Her credibility and truthfulness allow her to be provided access to the information we seek but cannot find because we are looking to hard.
Michelle has a knack of putting the liberal mindset into words we can understand so we can grasp what the liberals have in mind.

Maybe this is why Obama is trying to get the olympics to Chicago.
What a maroon!

Headline that we’ll all be reading in the not-too-distant future: “Human Olympians replaced at the 2016 games with green Japanese robots”

I’m pretty sure that Rudy couldn’t fix that city.
That city needs a fire. Burn it to the ground, start over, and maybe we’ll get it right.

Yea, I remember when Pres. Bush went to Copenhagen to lobby for Dallas’s Olympic bid back in 2001. Oh wait, that’s right, that never happened…

For a minute I thought Hannity said “cronology” rather than chronology.
Heh.

The Olympics would be a huge boost for a section of Chicago that needs all the help it can get. There are more important issues sure but why the outrage about a President pulling for a US city to host the Olympics?

Surfed onto MCNBC the other night and there was Olby with his supercilious smile and tossing papers across his desk with pseudo-disgusted abandon. It’s all a big act with him, he really doesn’t give a d–n. That’s what makes Beck so popular, he somes off as sincere if overly passionate about his ideas. Olby’s a big phony.
jeanie on October 1, 2009 at 4:50 PM
Have mixed feelings about the Chi Olympics. I think I’d be more comfortable espousing it if the Obamas and Oprah stayed out of it. I kind of think of it a just another big sales pitch to go with the rest of Obama’s salemanship gigs.

MM is on Beck right now . Beck should just have a drink and let her go on . She gets more beautiful everyday , not that it matters .
