Quotes of the day

posted at 10:47 pm on September 29, 2009 by Allahpundit

“Ms. Vincent didn’t reveal any details about the book, but did acknowledge it will describe Ms. Palin’s frustration over her treatment by the staffers she inherited from the McCain campaign after her surprise pick as the GOP vice presidential nominee last year. Ms. Palin was booked on grueling interviews with hostile reporters while talk-show hosts such as Glenn Beck couldn’t even get through to her aides. Mr. Beck tells me he was stunned when he picked up the phone one day just before the election to discover Sarah Palin was on the other end of the line. ‘She explained that she had been blocked from reaching her audience, so she was now ‘going rogue’ and booking her own interviews,’ Mr. Beck told me. ‘I was thrilled she had burst out of the cage they’d built for her and we were finally talking.’”

It will be a best seller.

The folks on the right will buy it because they love her. The folks in the middle will buy it because they want to know more about her and the folks on the left will buy it looking for ammunition.

Don’t worry. Already number 1 on BN and Amazon, even though the actual release of the book is months away. Simply amazing.

It will be the best selling book of the year, if not the decade.

Sorry but that was the worst campaign ever… and Palin should have said no to the offer…

The Palin pick might have worked… if they hadn’t winged it… she should have been prepping since the spring… and the McCain campaign needed an issue they could have had her run with besides drilling for oil or whatever…

2012 is not going to happen… but her endorsement might carry a lot of weight in the 2012 primary…

ninjapirate on September 29, 2009 at 10:54 PM

Nah, her book and she won’t tank. We conservatives are kinda the rebels now, ain’t we? “there something happening here, what it is ain’t exactly clear..” lol! Palin wins. America wins.

JAM on September 29, 2009 at 10:57 PM

Rush may well be right about Palin. The Dems fear her, which is why on CNN today, they were bashing her. That nitwit McGafferty (sp?) mockingly said she (Palin) just couldn’t handle working four more months as Governor, so she quit. Mysteriously though, he continued, she managed to publish this book in four months, and she had a contributor– ahem, ghost writer. Then he began reading these vitriolic vignettes from viewers.

anXdem on September 29, 2009 at 10:57 PM

Yup, McCain was a doozy, all right. The old bastard got back at all of us by throwing the election and managed to torpedo one of our better future prospects at the same time.

Kensington on September 29, 2009 at 10:57 PM

As a conservative, a major conflict in our war of individuality is confronting institutional media… Palin represents a crucial front in that theater of operations.

My hope is that my girl keeps getting underestimated. Keep talking her down, keep dismissing her, and just keep on keeping on about her. There’s lots of us out here that know the truth, and won’t sell it. She’s the real deal, connects with real Americans and can inject some common sense right into our current affairs.

And she is going to go on a book tour that’s going to make Obama glad he’s got a doc right next door to him. He’s going to need a whole helluva lot of Maalox, TUMS and Prilosec for the ulcers he’s gonna be suffer’n from.

canopor on September 29, 2009 at 11:02 PM

Rush is being guarded about Sarah quite simply because he does not know her as well as he would like to and she may not run for POTUS in 2012.

Obviously he likes her guts and he really likes that she gets the “right” people on the Far Left all worked up as he says “into a tizzy”.

But Rush is a businessman-why alienate Huckabee and Romney supporters by fawning too much over Sarah.

technopeasant on September 29, 2009 at 11:06 PM

ninjapirate on September 29, 2009 at 10:54 PM

I’ll nominate that for understatement of the decade.

Her endorsement will be the PRIMARY weighting factor in who becomes the GOP nominee and is something that the GOP Ayatollah’s in Washington, DC are delightfully missing.

TimeTraveler on September 29, 2009 at 11:10 PM

technopeasant on September 29, 2009 at 11:06 PM

Agreed.

And there’s something else here.

The “Ayatollah” mentality says that you tell the people well in advance who they should vote for – i.e. the NRSC’s endorsement of Charlie Crist over Mario Rubio.

People don’t like that – and Rush realizes this.

He’s not going to start endorsing Palin – especially not this early. I doubt he ever will unless she becomes the nominee. He will always defend her – but he won’t endorse her in the primaries unless he sees another RINO getting nominated like McCain.

You can respect Rush for that. He’s got one hundred times the money of a Cornyn, or a Sessions – the Ayatollahs – but he still respects the people and realizes they are the source of all power in the GOP. This is something the Ayatollah’s have forgotten.

HondaV65 on September 29, 2009 at 11:11 PM

and now we know why she resigned her seat in Alaska.

I can definitely see her taking a stab at the Presidency in 2012. Only question is what party will she choose. I think the Buffalo Springfield reference is dead on. The political field is changing. Rules are about to change I think. There is definitely an opportunity here.

J_Crater on September 29, 2009 at 11:16 PM

Imagine what political life in America would be like if it appeared the only choices the GOP had in 2012 would be either Huckabee or Romney.

People who don’t believe in divine intervention might want to consider the odds that Sarah Palin was chosen by McCain and that she is still prominent a year later.

And finally for those not aware no first-time losing VP candidate since the two party system of Democrats and Republicans came into being in 1854 has even gone on in the next election cycle to claim that party’s presidential nod, let alone become POTUS.

From the synops of her book

With her customary blunt common sense, she sets the record straight about the many myths and lies that have been spun around her and lays out her vision for an America that is strong, independent, and free.

Oh boy…with that kind of talk, she could find herself pulling in 100,000 + crowds in a country starving for truth before she even decides to run.

I think the second biggest seller, after Palin, will be Dick Cheney’s book.

Yet there are still people who work for the GOP who think Sarah is an embarrassment and “needs to read up on the issues.” WTF?
