Oh my: Palin “Going Rogue” on November 17th

posted at 6:30 pm on September 28, 2009 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

Via C4P, the draft was finished a few months early so they’re moving up the spring release date. I was going to make a joke about knowing what grassroots conservatives want to find under the tree this year, but come on. Waiting six weeks until Christmas? Some of you guys will be lined up outside the bookstore a week before it drops.

Pity poor Olbermann, forced to talk about Sarahcuda tonight instead of, say, the New York City terror plot. Again.

Harper publisher Jonathan Burnham says the former Alaska governor invested herself deeply and passionately in the project. He says the book contains fascinating detail.

The 400-page book is the first for Palin, who has been an object of fascination since Republican Sen. John McCain chose her as his running mate during his 2008 presidential bid. The book will be called “Going Rogue: An American Life.”

A huge first printing of 1.5 million copies has been commissioned by Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins.

I’m intrigued by the title, not only because it promises dish about the sniping from McCain staffers but because it hints, perhaps, at her positioning herself as the libertarian alternative to “orthodox” Republicans like Mitt and Huck. Meanwhile, Politico claims that “[c]opy-editing and fact-checking are now underway in a race to meet the crash publishing schedule,” a detail bound to intoxicate liberals eager to find, flag, catalogue and crow about every last typo. Exit question: Which avid audience will buy more copies, the Palin-lovers or the Palin-haters?

Really? Are you sure? The more attention on her cleavage or legs or winky eye the less will be on her inability to answer basic questions.

Obama’s a “he”, and Michelle has all the gawkers under control.

unclesmrgol on September 29, 2009 at 3:07 AM

Why is it OK to hear about how oh so stylish, beautiful, hot (sssssssizzzling in fact) Michelle Obama is, but one dare not to admit that Sarah Palin is an attractive woman?

What the nasty little Libtards who prefer bull dikes anyway don’t get is that what makes Palin physically attractive to us is that she’s also attractive on the inside…her values, her smarts, what she says, and what she has accomplished.

Also, Shrillary and Michy have both gotten as far as they have by riding their husbands’ coat-tails. The same cannot be said about Sarah Palin.

I hope this book comes in a non-descript brown paper wrapper, or an OD green one. Pay an extra $15 bucks and get a combat knife with it.

Allah’s right – no way am I waiting until Christmas for this one. Seeing as how I live in MA, though, I’ll have to pre-order because I’m convinced the left will go as hard for this book as the right will – and many for the same reason.

I will read this book for the same reason I will never read one of Obama’s “auto-biographies”. (Yes, plural. ?) I trust her to tell it like it is – the ugly, unvarnished truth, whether it reflects well on her or not. Her basic common sense understanding that we are all flawed and will make mistakes – and can recover – is, to me, her most endearing quality. It is repeatedly said here that Obama would never have stood up to even 1/4 the scrutiny. I don’t need my political leaders to be perfect, I need them to be honest and truthful (and conservative).

I myself am not one to brush lightly over the facts in order to protect people and I pay for it dearly at times. I feel that the time for politeness is over. We’re adults – we can survive getting our feelings hurt once in awhile. Sarah Palin is strong, smart and beautiful – a terminal condition in politics. Look at what these qualities have done for Michelle Bachman.

I would like to see Sarah as a leader in the GOP but if the GOP abandons her – or she it – I will follow Sarah. She is a conservative, flaws and all. She is an honorable person, wife, mother and public servant. She has looked political and media corruption in the eyes and fought back. She has earned my respect and admiration the hard way – by defending her choices. She has my support & my vote and soon she will have my $.

Because Americans love to talk about all the POTUS wives’ wardrobes and personal styles as if it matters one sh*t what they wear, as if they’re important people. When they’re really just wives with important husbands.

Palin is a politician. Her appearance is irrelevant. Yet y’all love to drool over Winky.

Yeah, her Iquiterod speech really left people with black eyes. People were trembling in their boots at Winky’s amazing hard hitting speech that featured disjointed zingers like “How ’bout in honor of the American soldier ya quit makin’ things up?’

And despite the use of a criminal in the example of rogue in a sentence, you think it’s an awesome word to describe Winky.

Her publishers probably tried to convince her to pick another title since this one will invite much mockery, but YOU CANNOT STOP A WINKY ROGUE NO SIR YOU CANNOT THAT’S WHY SHE IS SO ROGUE

Your support of liberals who have murdered, molested, women, killed men, ran male prostitution rings gives you no, absolutely no standing here.
When you denounce your party for supporting a KKK leader, a senator who killed a women, a congressman who ran a male brothel, a president who molested women, and now supporting a child molester (along with various media people promoting the raping of Palin’s kids—which makes you a what?)…a party who doesn’t purge, but promote this kind of behavior, then we may listen.
Until then, you are a person who embraces these men, and supports their “extra-curricular” activities.

Oops, forgot the quote for Rywall and his winking heroes:

Courtney Love is still floating on the charm offensive that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez launched at Wednesday’s screening of Oliver Stone’s new documentary, “South of the Border.” The singer, who came dressed to thrill in a short zipper-front skirt, says she noticed the twice-divorced Chavez checking her out during a Q&A afterward.

“It was the third wink that sold me,” Mrs. Kurt Cobain told us. “He’s a sexy dawg. He invited me to visit his country and I’d like to go. I’ll rock Caracas!”

The ebullient, espresso-sipping Chavez also had smooches and smiles for Susan Sarandon, Danny Glover, Shia LaBeouf and Carey Mulligan.

There’s a golden opportunity to put a dagger through the heart of the Obama support machine with Palin’s autobiography, but IMHO it has to be played just right.

The case has already been made in parts of the right-blogosphere that:

(1) Obama probably did not write his own autobiography, given it has the literary fingerprints of Bill Ayers all over it, including vignettes that happened in Ayers’ own life;
(2) Obama claims to have written it all by himself, which would make this a case of fraud;
(3) much of the early (and lingering) die-hard support for Obama comes from folks that believe he’s not just of ordinary high intelligence, but is in fact a literary super-genius way out of Sarah Palin’s league; and
(4) if this particular “lie” is unraveled, there is nothing left to support the claim of his towering intellect.

If true then this particular issue is lot more important than it may seem on the surface. (Don’t know whether it’s true myself, I’m just writing what I’ve read.)

Furthermore, this story is NOT circulating in mainstream circles AFAIK, and will never circulate as long as the media continues to protect the president. It’s kind of like the ACORN saga before Giles and O’Keefe broke it on Breitbart.

So IMHO the best move to expose the fraud, and indict the media at the same time for not doing their jobs, is to execute the following maneuver:

. Wait for Palin’s autobio to come out.
. Wait for the media to make their inevitable, sneering comparisons between Obama and Palin, pitting her ghostwritten pile of comfort food against His Crowning Literary Masterpiece.
. Wait for the media to make this the Issue of the Month; wait for them to “explain” how this makes Obama inherently superior; wait for them to revisit all of the early adulation over this man’s literary genius, from before the campaign.

THEN hit them over the head with the accusation that, maybe, just maybe, he DIDN’T write his own autobiography, that people have suspected this for years, and why have they never even MENTIONED it before? Why have they just taken his claims at face value, without a single critical thought about it since then? Especially when compared to how they are treating Palin? etc. etc. And provide all of the evidence to date.

In other words, go big with the accusation AFTER the media has drawn first blood by crapping all over Palin in trying to make their comparisons. Then, once they’re in the mood to “make comparisons”, change the subject from literary merit to basic honesty: “Well at least Sarah Palin is honest about hiring a ghostwriter, and doesn’t lie and try to pass off someone else’s work as her own… so which do YOU think is better?” etc. etc. etc.

Thus the accusation against Obama becomes a defensive maneuver, and a justified one at that. After all, if it’s true that Obama is guilty of fraud, who in their right mind should take that kind of ridicule from the press (that Palin’s going to receive) lying down?

One leftover detail: who first lodges the accusation against Obama? It would almost have to be someone in Palin’s camp, which could be risky. (Thoughts / ideas?)

Wow, Dave is really obsessed with Palin. Bet he’ll spring for a dozen books and, if his mom lets him, nail up a poster of Cuda on his bedroom wall.

Not sure if anybody’s mentioned it yet, but the “rogue” in the title reminds me of the “rouge” in the “Rouge Cou” business license she pursued a few years ago (”Red Neck.”)

http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2008/09/sarah_palins_red_neck.html

Palin’s going Populist/Libertarian/Conservative. There’s a deeper well of working-class, patriotic, “values-driven but give me my space” type of political support out there than GOP elitists or NYC bloggers appreciate.

If Palin taps into this vein of political thought while Barry runs the nation deeper into debt and continues showing cluelessness on foreign policy, she can ride this wave quite a distance.

cs89 on September 29, 2009 at 9:58 AM

2. One who is playfully mischievous; a scamp.

This is probably the definition that Palin wants applied to herself. She is a strong person who tries to do serious things in unconventional ways.

Others have been labeled “rogue” throughout history by the press, such as Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan, and have gone on to greatness.

For this, she was viciously torn apart by the media–the editors who picked apart her interviews and pieced together snippets out of context in order to deliberately make her look stupid and unfocused, while leaving her best answers on the cutting-room floor, the relentless attacks about her daughter’s pregnancy and trying to make Levi Johnston into a hero. If the media had been as harsh on Obama, he would have never been a Senator, much less President.

IMHO, it was a serious mistake for her to quit the governorship of Alaska–she owed it to her state to complete her term, but not run for re-election if she had ambitions of higher office.

She will probably NEVER be President, but she may have a positive role as a conservative “king-maker” by campaigning for others and explaining her ideas, even if she will never be “queen”. She may eventually be a Cabinet Secretary (Secretary of Energy or Secretary of the Interior) in a future Republican Administration.

But after everything she says has been twisted beyond recognition by vicious media distortion, I look forward to reading her book, to find out in her OWN words what she wants to do to serve her country. She probably has some excellent ideas for taking back the White House, for Conservatives in general, if not for herself.

Well said, sir. But I suggest we don’t judge her decision to step down as Governor – we weren’t there. She was.

She could do the country a lot of good just by helping out. Given the right type of support, she would be an asset to any conservative administration or effort. I regret that she would be a distraction that no one is likely to take a chance on for many years to come.

However, she did shine the light on a lot of hypocrisy. Every day people who ordinarily would not have noticed this saw it and didn’t like what they saw. It’s up to use to explain to this people what is going on now that we have their attention.

No, that’s not the analogy. The analogous case would be, someone who purposely seeks out comments supporting Obama on left-leaning boards, and then writes page after page of verbal diarrhea in an almost ritualistic manner, decrying the One and anyone who supports Him.

IOW, it’s the fact of you seeking out Palin-positive threads on the internet to target members of those communities — and not any negative feelings themselves, whatever they may be — that tags you as a Palin-obsessed —v.

I heard there were these guys called editors and apparently they get their hands on manuscripts and alter them and stuff.

Your link to Cashill’s hilarious piece is, well, hilarious. But run with it. Especially the parts where he theorizes – no wait, guesses – when Obama and Ayers might have met and holds up a couple of sentences with barely the same structure as proof that the same person wrote both. Then he says hey so here are a few but there might be HUNDREDS MORE. As I said, hilarious. And as I said, feel free to run with it. Especially if you like getting laughed at.

I don’t necessarily believe Palin wrote her book alone – like everybody else writing their first book, editors are all over it. And it doesn’t matter. Her name’s on the cover.

His entire narrative is suffused with the literary stylings of one William Ayers, a man he supposedly never met until his last year writing the autobiography. I can just see Ann Coulter on Hardball now:

“Now Ann, you’re claiming the President didn’t write his own autobiography?!”

“No Chris, I’m *not* saying that! What I’m *saying*, is…”

“Okay then, are you *implying* the President didn’t write his own autobiography?”

“Not neces*sar*ily. (And you always do this to me!) What I’m saying is, I think it *is* somewhat odd that the claim of his being a literary genius unparallelled in modern times, rests solely on his uncanny ability to write exactly like William Ayers, and like no other writer, including himself, apparently. Don’t you find that somewhat odd, Chris? I mean, it certainly *is* a talent, to be sure, but is that *kind* of talent really something to be *proud* of? For someone who’s such a literary genius, it makes me just a *little* bit curious to know what *his* writing style looks like, yet we’ve never *seen* it, not one piece of writing from him that would actually *demonstrate* that to anyone.”

“There, you just implied the President didn’t write his own autobiography! Really, Ann…”

“Listen, Chris, let’s limit the discussion to what I *actually* say, okay, rather than what I *didn’t* say. Let’s start *there* All right?

“Now, what I *said* was [gets interrupted again] — no, I *didn’t* say Bill Ayers *ghost-wrote* the book that Obama is claiming *he* wrote all by himself, which would of course be *fraud*. (Actually, you don’t tend to call it “ghost-writing” unless the real writer is actually acknowledged, so whatever this is, Chris, it certainly *isn’t* “ghost-writing”.) So no, Chris. I’m *not* saying *that*.

“What I’m *saying* is, that Barack O*ba*ma, literary genius that he is, was evidently so in love with the literary style of a man he allegedly never *met* until 1995 – which, incidentally, was the same year his book came *out* – a book he says he spent the previous five *years* writing, that he chose to write that book in that man’s *literary style*… and, quite *competently* I might add, because it’s *not ea–sy* to write a book from scratch in another person’s literary *sty–le*… their literary style is kind of like their fingerprint, y’know? It’s not as easy as you might think. And yet I’m saying, he pulled it off, which therefore *makes* him a literary genius… though I doubt it’s the *kind* of literary genius everyone on the left is *claiming* he is. But yes, a literary genius nonetheless.

“So I wonder, since he’s so good at copying other writers’ literary styles, when *will* he deign to write us a Shakespeare sonnet to impress his royal subjects, or maybe a short story in the style of Mark Twain, or – if his literary genius is confined to the non-fiction genre, perhaps a dispatch from his recent trip to the Kremlin in the style of Edward R. Murrow? Or is his genius only able to capture the style of one William Ayers? *I* happen to think that’s an *excellent* question, by the way, *I* think that’s the question you really *should* be asking, instead of attacking *me* all the time… yes, the more I think about it, the more I realize the world needs to see *more* of this man’s literary genius. Barack Obama, 44th President and literary genius…”

The danger for Palin, said Morgan Griffith, the Republican House majority leader in Virginia, is that she “doesn’t have a real clear-cut agenda of what she’s trying to do.”

An [UNNAMED] Iowa state senator explained: “While people may still like her, I’m not sure that they think she has the skills necessary to pull us out of the political funk we find ourselves in.

Whatever Rogue is or isn’t, Palin has her own timeline. There’s plenty of time to address PLATFORM AGENDA. And the more Palin involves herself, the better. Palin has yet to show “the skills necessary to pull us out of the political funk we find ourselves in.” It’s a matter of time, effort and opportunity. I am certainly willing to give Palin the opportunity to gain firm experience to become her own self determined Rogue American.

Go archive. I mock Romney banter of “experience”. Michael Falcone, POLITICO, managed to pad his Palin piece to promote Romney. Not buying the sexist favoritism. Romney is free to capitalize on capitalist ventures given his Mormon hierarchy financing, itself originated from United Order communism, taking everything from idealistic converts who moved to Zion to obey god according to the hierarchy. But don’t tell me THAT is the economic genius to save the USA. Romney’s economic genius included the incarnation of socialism into American government. True, he NOW says he’d have let the auto industry go into bankruptcy and reorganize. But while on the potus 2008 primary campaign trail, he promoted unifying business and government, allowing government to save big business, save jobs. If Romney thought he should help save Michigan, why didn’t he run as their governor and save the auto industry and American jobs according to his plan when there was time to prove himself in the real world? His legacy in Mass. is sick. /I mock Politico, assuming itself the ONLY legal online politico blog name. Those unnamed sources bite @ss. Load up the article with names, readers skim over anyway.

I like the woman, I really do but that’s the same trap all the O-Bots fell into. Just because you like and agree with someone doesn’t qualify them to run a nation. To be honest, I fell into the same trap. She was main reason I donated and voted for the McCain campaign. It was foolish and I wasted my money in hindsight and not just because the McCain-Palin ticket lost either.

Neither Obama or Palin were ready, both have paper thin resumes (even if Palin did have “executive” experience) and neither were in any way qualified for the job of POTUS or VP for that matter. Hell, even someone with a somewhat thicker resume like Biden isn’t qualified. Palin, I’ve always felt would be a good Secretary of Energy. She’s passionate I believe about making this country more energy self sufficient and would pursue all avenues to bring us closer to that goal.

I have no earthly idea what Palin’s 2012 plans may be, and this comment today from Mark Steyn’s latest piece did not mention palin at any point in the article. With that said, for all you flacid noodles out there hawking the supposedly “more presentable”, beltway supported types, like El Plastico Mitt Romney.

Ponder this, and the consequenses if we do not pull back from the abyss, and try to grow a pair.

The media would like the American Right to be represented by the likes of Bob Dole and John McCain, decent old sticks who know how to give dignified concession speeches. Last time round, we went along with their recommendation. If you want to get rave reviews for losing gracefully, that’s the way to go. If you want to win, look at whom the Democrats and their media chums are so frantic to destroy: That’s the better guide to what they’re really worried about.
