The obligatory second video of kids singing about Obama

posted at 8:11 am on September 26, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

After the exposure given the creepy hosannas sung to Barack Obama in a New Jersey school this past week, it’s not terribly surprising that people have begun to scour YouTube for any other examples of indoctrination in elementary schools. Several people have e-mailed me this clip, claiming it to be the next in the series, but it’s far more goofy than offensive. Obviously the teacher, “Mr. B”, was giddy enough to write a song about Obama’s election and have his kids sing it the next day, but except for the “Yes yes yes yes yes we can” in the chorus, it mostly avoids glorifying Obama and focuses on kids staying in school so that they can become president. And what’s with the rooster at the end?

Obama is the President!
First African America in history
44th president of the United States
The ground has shifted
The world has changed!

CHORUS:
Oooo Im a proud American
Oooo yes yes yes yes YES WE CAN!

Im going to study really hard just like Barack
Learning never ever stops
Gonna set my goals HIGH and graduate
You might be looking at the President of 2048!

We are a nation of a thousand colors, look at me
Our strength is our diversity
Walking hand in hand we sing
Each a day a little closer to the dream of Dr. King

In my opinion, this is harmless. Obama’s election was historical, and that seems like a reasonable point to teach children in school, especially the day after the election when this was shot.  No one’s worshiping Obama in this song.

If I could have offered one suggestion to Mr. B, I think it would have been … more cowbell.

Socialist indoctrination and worship of a state leader is just plain creepy.

I agree with you, but we only think that because we haven’t attained the level of post-partisan enlightenment of certain bloggers. Sadly for us, some concepts are more important than skin color so we are not inclined to excuse wrongs on behalf of melanin count.

But we still don’t know how hard Soetoro actually studied since he won’t release transcripts … How can we study hard like him if we don’t know?

csdeven on September 26, 2009 at 10:43 AM

This one certainly did NOT have a creepy factor that the other did!
The teacher seemed sorta fair minded if you read more at his YouTube post.
Anytime you use the quotes of Martin Luther King is probably a good thing.
I just wish Obama had listened to King more than Marx.

Yes, it’s shameless indoctination but not nearly as creepy as the mmm mmm mmm song.

We are setting these kids up for serious psychological damage if/when Obama turns out to be the worst president in history.

csdeven on September 26, 2009 at 10:19 AM

They set themselves up in bubbles so they never have to face things like this. Ask a liberal. They think Jimmy Carter was an amazing president, and if only he hadn’t been stopped by Reagan, we would have gotten the unicorns thirty years ago.

They think FDR saved us from the Great Depression, for crying out loud. If America still stands sixty years from now, idiot liberals will tell each other that Obama saved us from the 2nd Great Depression with his stimulus.

johnnyU on September 26, 2009 at 10:57 AM

I think the rooster at the end is representing a new day has come type of thing. Unfurtunatly its a terrible day.

Sort of a take off of “morning in America”. That would be a slap at the right.

Also, the kids held signs of world leaders of color and talked about diversity being our strength but had no pictures of Washington, Jefferson or even Lincoln.

A.C. McCloud on September 26, 2009 at 10:58 AM

I think that these Obama supporter-teachers who create any songs lauding Obama are fricking childish. If a child of mine were subjected to any of this, I’d ream the teacher, principal, superintendent, and anyon in sight.

Ed says,

it’s far more goofy than offensive.

I can’t believe you aren’t alarmed by this. After the NEA stuff, the “civilian armed forces” speach by President Obama, the “President of the world” comments by reporters, and the whole “messiah” following throughout the election and beyond, you’re telling us that this doesn’t concern you?

flyfisher on September 26, 2009 at 12:03 PM

Obama’s election was historical

It was not. It would have been historical if a descendant of former slaves would have risen to the presidency. That would really have symbolically healed the nation.

That still has not happened. Obama is the son of a white marxist student from Kansas, who hooked up with the first African socialist she could get her hands on. The third world was the vanguard of the Revolution.

Barry Obama never knew his father. His father was Kenyan, on the east coast of Africa. Most “African Americans” are from West African descent.

Obama is the product of white guilt, raised by his white mother and grandparents, in bastions of American racism like Hawaii and Indonesia. It was Ann Dunham who taught Obama to identify with and model himself after civil rights leaders like MLK. She sent him to Frank Marshall Davis to get the proper marxist, black nationalist perspective.

Obama’s entire persona is a carefully constructed myth to serve a political goal. Bill Ayers ghost-wrote much of Dreams of my Father. Obama built his entire career on his fake blackness. The race card is constantly played to either present Obama as a unifying figure or shut down all dissent.

Don’t buy into the myth!

NebCon on September 26, 2009 at 12:39 PM

In my opinion, this is harmless. Obama’s election was historical…

Ed, you have learned NOTHING from Martin Luther King if you excuse this using the premise ‘the election was historical’ so it’s okay. It was historical why? WHY?

Oh, sorry, I see your point. We have NEVER TO THIS DAY had a President with LESS qualifications for the office; this is what you meant by historical I guess, for as MLK said, we should judge a person by the CONTENT of their character, and NOT by the color of their skin. You didn’t mean these kids are celebrating because of the color of his skin, did you Ed? DID YOU SERIOUSLY MEAN THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN ED, AND THIS IS WHY YOU THINK IT IS OKAY TO HAVE KIDS SING LIKE THIS?

In that other vid, after they get done chanting “Mmm, mmm, mmm! Barack Hussein Obama!”, they sing a song to the tune of the Battle Hymn of the Republic. Well, that deserves to be mocked, so I present The Battle Hymn of Obama:

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the House’s healthcare plan
Even though its countless pages make it really hard to scan
And anyone who disagrees might just as well be Klan!
Pelosi marches on!

  (Chorus)
  Glory, glory to Obama
  Glory, glory to Obama
Tell your daddy and your Mama
  His plans are marching on!

He’s apologized for everything the country’s ever done
CO2’s at fault for warming; please just disregard the Sun
You have no right to question him, for after all HE WON!
As ACORN Marches on!

(Repeat Chorus)

It’s our duty as Americans to do just what he says
He looks so good on television; better in hi-rez
We will censure any congressmen who disrespect the Prez
Gleichsaltung marches on!

(Repeat Chorus)

In my opinion, this is harmless. Obama’s election was historical…

I might agree if I could come up with one song sang by children (or anyone else) that praises any other recent president. I can’t even think of a song praising Washington or Lincoln. Maybe you can, I can’t. Yankee Doodle Dandy mentions Washington, but nothing like this. Historically we have sang to honor our country, our flag, our freedom not some politician.

“Our strength’s in our diversity”

and then

Show us a link. You know why I don’t buy it? Simple, the Left and their media allies would have jumped on it to reinforce the “Bushhitler” meme, they wouldn’t be able to resist it. So I say again show us the link to where public school children are singing the praises of GWB.

Sharr on September 26, 2009 at 2:17 PM

I saw this video several days ago, but the only scouring I did was clicking on the link in the “Featured Videos” on the “Mmm mmm mmm” video’s YouTube page. The teacher states that this song was completed in February:

We began to write the song after watching the Inauguration. Our school day is packed bell to bell with academics, but were usually able to spend the last five minutes of singing songs as short ELD (English Language Development) activities. Day by day we used this tiny window of time to brainstorm lyrics. As the song took shape, the children became more and more proud of their accomplishment. It soon morphed into a tribute to MLK and others honored for their work towards social justice.

By February the song was done. We got requests to come and perform from adjacent classrooms that heard it coming from our room at the end of the day. Their egos boomed. I decided to make it something they’d never forget by producing the video. Nobody forced the children to participate–in fact a few sat it out. When it was finished, they were hoping the President himself would see it and wanted to be able to show it to friends and relatives. We got the consent of parents as well as the administration and put it online.

A new day has dawned—cockadoodle-doo!

I do agree with Ed that this video is pretty innocuous as a song with a “stay in school and you can do it, too” message. And “the world has changed” is a pretty accurate observation in more ways than one.

CO2 Producer on September 26, 2009 at 2:32 PM

jack herman on September 26, 2009 at 2:42 PM

Ed, this misses the point entirely, which is that leftist educators ARE using their positions to indoctrinate children and this just one such example.

If you dispute this, then consider the following mental experiment: imagine that Sarah Palin had won the election and not Obama. Just how many YouTube videos do you think would surface featuring small children singing about the historic significance of the first female President of America?

Be honest, there would be none. To deny the glaring ideological motive behind this song is bordering on an act of useful idiocy.

LegendHasIt on September 26, 2009 at 9:29 PM

So far an extensive search of the internet doesn’t show any actual evidence of the ‘death threats’ Other than the unattributed quote on FOX, the report seems to be mostly echoing around on a wide variety of left-wing sites. Whether Fox picked it up from them, or they picked it up from FOX, I couldn’t say.

But someone has looked into it:

Debbie Flora , principal of the school in Arkansas, told the Associated Press that some of the people who have called “did not use very kind language.”

Meanwhile, an operator at the head office of the B. Bernice Young Elementary School in New Jersey told RAW STORY on Friday morning that reports claiming the school was on “lockdown” after receiving “death threats” are “not true.”

“It is not true that the school was on lockdown and I’m not aware of any threats,” a woman with the school’s head office said. Asked her name, she replied, “My name is Ann,” then hung up.

A message was left with the school district’s public relations officer for confirmation.

However, a New Jersey newspaper reported Friday morning that a school safety director insists officers found the report of “death threats” against the principal to be “unsubstantiated.” Yet, a local Fox affiliate station claims police “confirmed” the threats, but would not specify their target(s).

In the early hours of Sept. 25, The Burlington County Times reported:
Public Safety Director Walt Corter said police also investigated reports that threats were made against the school district because of the video and found that they were unsubstantiated. “We will continue to work with the school, as we do daily to ensure student safety,” Corter said.

So, once again it appears that Mr. Rywall’s amateur attempts at leftist propaganda and demonizing conservatives has failed.

The tone is different, but the problem is the introduction of modern politics into the classroom. There are plenty of people who think the ground did not shift in a good way, nor has the nation changed for the better with Obama’s election.

In 50 or 100 years, we will know. His term isn’t over yet, but as things go now, he’s looking to occupy a historical niche just above Jimmy Carter.

Our country has gone down the toilet, into the sewer, and is no longer the land of the free, home of the brave.

After years of intolerance, racism, prejudice, bias, hatred, lies, and distortions pushed by the left effectively brain washing our youth, we now have an entire population of voters who are ignorant and who are voting for people like Barrack Hussein Obama, Al Franken, Ted Kennedy, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Harry Reid, and more creepy people.

I have no place to go now.

There is no where in planet earth where someone can go and live any longer because the USA, when it was strong, was the reason the rest of the world could live in happiness, peace, and prosperity.

If one wanted to move to Australia, Britain, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Argentina, etc., one could do so.

Without the US as a strong force for good and honor we aren’t safe any where else, and those other nations will not long survive in peace and prosperity.

Thanks Barrack Hussein Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Barney Frank, Ted Kennedy, Joe Biden, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Jimmy Carter, and all you other nut jobs for ruining our nation and making planet earth a cesspool.

Thanks to all you idiots who voted those folks into office.

Thanks for your ignorance and selfishness.

Thanks for ruining this once wonderful nation!
