Video: Parents angry over Obama song at NJ elementary school
posted at 4:15 pm on September 25, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
In which the school and the district double down on stupid:
“There was no intention to indoctrinate children. There was no political agenda underlying the activity.”
Uh, sure, pal. Those kids wrote the lyrics about equal pay all by themselves? I know that’s a big issue among the playground set. They also just happened to replace God with “Barack Hussein Obama” in saying that people are “equal in his sight,” because that’s exactly the phraseology one would expect from a roomful of kids of the “London Bridge is falling down” age.
The administration in this community may need to go back to school themselves to learn a little common sense and strategy. The teacher who led this group retired before the video hit the Internet. How much difficulty could it cause to admit the obvious and apologize for stepping over a line with these children? They’re certainly not learning a lesson about accountability, although they do seem to have adopted the ACORN strategy of blaming people for the video’s release to the Internet rather than the fact that one of their teachers was indoctrinating kids into Obama-worship, quite literally considering the song, its lyrics, and its origins.
Update: I wrote a warning in yesterday’s post not to put contact information into the comments. Let the parents deal with the school; it’s their community, and so far they seem to be doing a pretty good job of it.

Don’t like the ads at the bottom of the entries. It’s irritating.

Love how the media and Libs act as if this is not a bad and scary thing.
Different ball of wax if it was a song about George W. Bush!

Yeah, I’m pretty sure the Nazis said the same thing to German parents.
Dave R. on September 25, 2009 at 4:19 PM
They are so sure of themselves they will deny, deny, deny. Yeah, the kids wrote the lyrics. Somebody needs to be fired if not for the event, for the cover up.
d1carter on September 25, 2009 at 4:20 PM
It is unfortunate the school environment has become so politicized…but I guess this is what happens when libs running these schools ignore the wishes of the parents, then everything they do becomes suspect.
ramrants on September 25, 2009 at 4:20 PM
they say “doth” in the song.
Doctor Zhivago on September 25, 2009 at 4:20 PM
That was horrendous and yes the parents whose fears were mocked can throw this right back in the elites faces.

Oh yeah, one more thing…..leave our kids alone!
d1carter on September 25, 2009 at 4:21 PM
I would be very angry if I was a parent in that school. I find the whole notion disgusting. They should not be doing this with a group of five year olds. I am also about tired of Scholastic Book Fairs at my kid’s schools that are full of Obama propaganda.

Ed and AP need to eat, but I would be willing to pay a subscription with less ads to get rid of that one.

If my kids were still in school – I’d be demanding PROOF from every teacher and administrator that this IS NOT going on in my kid’s school. Parents – you need to raising hell because I guaran-damn-tee you it is going on in your kid’s school.

Hey Mr. School superintendent, when was the last time you heard school kids singing the praises of a LIVING president? Black history month my eye! It’s all about exalting the dear leader, nothing more and nothing less. That is why you are more upset about the video getting let out than you are the words. Buddy you have just be ACORNed!
fbcmusicman on September 25, 2009 at 4:25 PM
This “teacher” certainly was a brick in the wall Bama built…
And of course the administration runs away from accountability like butter on a hot plate. Where do you think so many of our kids learn their cowardice?

I am just waiting for them to start up that voluntary (mandatory) service for the children. They will not enslave my children to their idea of social good. There will be a war in some areas of this country when he tries that.

The school — and Obamabots in general — are acting if there aren’t many, many black men and women who have, on their own, accomplished great things in (and for) this country.
No, they have to worship a lying totalitarian thug….
This is an obscenity, and a frightening foretaste of the plans Osama Obama and his posse have for us.

A little odd that of this entire class of kids who had two songs with multiple verses memorized adoring Obama, parents never heard of it until the video leaked.

This is exactly why public schools should be defunded and parents should be given vouchers instead.
You want your kid to learn to worship politicians, have at it.
But keep my kid out of it.

Parents are angry over this.what a surprise.Who could be angry over this? (Red ,yellow, black or white there all equal in his sight.Jesus so sorry i mean Obama loves all the children of the world)Now i ask you who could be angry at this after all we were told a few months ago by the newsweek guy he was god like.
thmcbb on September 25, 2009 at 4:32 PM
Who is surprised? I’m certainly not and I have three little girls.
Government schools are just that–they exist to serve the government. They don’t serve parents, they don’t serve children, they serve the needs of the state. The state, and its officers, like this principal, have the authority to do as they wish with your children. You have allowed the usurpation of your authority, the relinquishment of your freedom to decide what and when your children learn things, as well as the development of their political views. I do not understand the outrage, because when things like this happen, we are simply getting what we pay for.
I would encourage all parents, future parents, grand parents and otherwise, to consider home schooling your children. If it is possible, please consider it. Homeschooling has grown 7% annually and is literally exploding in many areas, and I fully expect it to continue, particularly in the wake of issues like this and the Won’s speech to the kiddos last week.
State Control.

Unbelievable.
We don’t need no thought control. The left is trying to build a protective barrier around the president. And they are using kids like bricks in that wall.

How can any parent be sure this junk isn’t going on in your kid’s school? We need to abandon the public school system in droves and push for school vouchers!
(It makes me so angry that the Republicans had the votes for this in 2002 and George Bush was pushing it, but they wouldn’t do it. Another reason I won’t give any money to the RNC, but just to conservative candidates.)

The children sing to the virtues of Marxism and dear leader Hugo. And that was all before Chavez got his “education reform” law. There’s been rioting in Venezuela these past 3 weeks because of it…
elduende on September 25, 2009 at 4:40 PM
This kind of deification of a political leader is completely counter to American political philosophy and tradition. However it is not alien to most of the rest of the world, especially the marxist third-world.
Is there a similar song of praise and worship about George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Patrick Henry, Abraham Lincoln, or any other great American political leader? There may be some, but I can’t think of any.
DeathB4Tyranny on September 25, 2009 at 4:41 PM
Someone on Fox made a great point that if they kept “Jesus” in one of the songs it would not be allowed to be sung in school but simply replacing Jesus with Obama made it fine.
Ironic thing is a lot of lefties treat Obama as if he were the second coming so it makes sense I suppose.

We need to end this economically indefensible make-work jobs and look forward to the improved crop yields and fewer winter deaths that GW would produce.

Great Ted!! We live in a small rural area where people think homeschoolers are odd, so we don’t have an opportunity to meet with others in a classical conversations group–we do meet with a couple of families but they don’t do classical. So we just pull together a curriculum using elements from several classical sources. Classical Conversations is Awesome you will be glad you are using it, I met the founder at a homeschool convention and had a really nice conversation with her.

everywhere, people think homeschoolers are odd. Our families are odd, our beliefs are odd and we’re stereotyped. But, when they meet our kids–they know something is different. They behave, they sit, they say please and thank you and can speak.
But, I take comfort in knowing that WE, as parents, are tasked with impressing the lessons of truth upon the hearts of our children. Even though we may fail in many aspects of eduction, there is one thing that the US Public School system cannot provide my child with, and that’s love. I don’t care how nice, trained, talented a teacher in a class is–it is simply impossible for any mortal to spread their attention across 20+ students each day without going stark raving mad.
Homeschoolers are the key to the future.
