Video: Parents angry over Obama song at NJ elementary school

In which the school and the district double down on stupid:
“There was no intention to indoctrinate children. There was no political agenda underlying the activity.”
Uh, sure, pal. Those kids wrote the lyrics about equal pay all by themselves? I know that’s a big issue among the playground set. They also just happened to replace God with “Barack Hussein Obama” in saying that people are “equal in his sight,” because that’s exactly the phraseology one would expect from a roomful of kids of the “London Bridge is falling down” age.
The administration in this community may need to go back to school themselves to learn a little common sense and strategy. The teacher who led this group retired before the video hit the Internet. How much difficulty could it cause to admit the obvious and apologize for stepping over a line with these children? They’re certainly not learning a lesson about accountability, although they do seem to have adopted the ACORN strategy of blaming people for the video’s release to the Internet rather than the fact that one of their teachers was indoctrinating kids into Obama-worship, quite literally considering the song, its lyrics, and its origins.
Update: I wrote a warning in yesterday’s post not to put contact information into the comments. Let the parents deal with the school; it’s their community, and so far they seem to be doing a pretty good job of it.

What’s up with those racist parents?!?
And on the ads, I say great! A strong Hot Air helps perpetuate a strong conservative community.

Had the same problem a few weeks ago. For a workaround, try using a different browser, such as Firefox or Opera.
petefrt on September 25, 2009 at 5:20 PM
Firing this handful of teachers… would have little effect. Yes, there are some hard-working conservative or just normal teachers but they are swimming in a sea of leftist indoctrination, from their education training, to the curriculum that is purchased, to in many cases the state standards. Get your kids the heck out of there. Yes, you can!
Renae on September 25, 2009 at 5:20 PM
Exactly
And then take a break
to continue for another hour when Hannity is on

I agree completely. Cameras need to be kept running in every classroom and freely open to parents’ review every hour of the school day. And parents need to start taking school systems to court.

Obama doesn’t believe the free market isn’t the source of all ills. He just believe the free market is the source of most ills.
Hey, Obama, Obamacare will really help the middle class and the least of these.

Just think of all of the people who record Beck’s show, fifteen minutes in and it’s Bury.

He was probably scheduled to start this drivel @ 5 pm EDT but he’s always late.

I’m glad you guys are talking about this.
I’m the Mom of two girls under the age of 3. I was watching other Moms raise their concerns on Glenn Beck’s show. And now, I can’t watch, because the public schools’ Dear Leader is speaking!

It’s interesting. From time to time, there’s been a debate about whether we should have some form of compulsory volunteer service–whether military or Peace Corps.
Maybe we should consider requiring that educators, government employees, and anyone working for a “non-profit” work in private-sector job (and no Fannie Mae nonsense) before they can go into public-sector employment.

The other day I was ranting about this, when they kept cutting in to show him at the UN. This speech at the UN, that vote at the UN, hey let’s look at Obama at the UN some more. If I’m watching FOX, I expect to have a bit of freedom from All Barack All The Time! Let’s cut the fair and balanced crap!

Perhaps you missed Mr. Ermey’s comments in support of BHO on the Military Channel web site. They might still be available. Or, I could be wrong.
oldleprechaun on September 25, 2009 at 6:17 PM
So on Veterans Day, I fully expect to see another video of these kids singing “Ballad of the Green Berets” with equal enthusiasm.

RE: Scholastic Book Fairs – there are many companies out there that will do book fairs, some national, some local. Search for them. After having our fill of Scholastic via their textbooks, we found an independent book fair co to use right outside Boston.
If you have to use Scholastic, then simply refuse to set up certain carts or materials. We routinely left lots of unopened boxes down the back hall full of books that were inappropriate or just plain junk. The rep does not even need to know you never put the merchandise out. Read your contract – you are not obligated to put up for sale all the crap they send. Of course, this means possibly taking a stand with the volunteers but based on your previous comments, that will not be an issue.
gopmom on September 25, 2009 at 6:40 PM
Ermey was speaking on those Nirther soldiers who refused deployment.
He supports respecting the office of the presidency…more specifically the commander-in-chief.
On that, I fully agree.
The Ugly American on September 25, 2009 at 6:41 PM
Yeah, so? He, at least, doesn’t spend a full sixty minutes trying to cram his political beliefs down my throat. Plus, I like shotguns and tanks.

LOL…..
The Ugly American on September 25, 2009 at 6:45 PM
They should’ve had them sing about America’s first great black president, David Palmer.
Of course it’s political indoctrination. It’s not even necessarily Obama indoctrination, just vacuous liberal indoctrination. “Equal work means equal pay”? When did BHO ever say anything about that? Isn’t that just dredged-up 1970’s ERA tripe?

Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it.
- Adolf Hitler
If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.
- Joseph Goebbels

That isn’t enough. I’m not seeking prison time but apologies from these people are meaningless. They clearly were indoctrinating those children (it is an undeniable fact). That should come with consequences just like electing a filthy coward President. MMM MMM MM!
highhopes on September 25, 2009 at 7:45 PM
These moms should be commended for raising such brilliant children. I certainly wouldn’t have thought to write lyrics of praise about Obama’s equal pay bill at their age!
highhopes on September 25, 2009 at 7:48 PM
Not an attempt to indoctrinate students. Just an innocent part of Black History Month.
Don’t Pee on my foot and tell me it’s raining.
That these people can lie so blatantly to the very people they work for and still retain their jobs is astounding. But then, of course, that is standard operating procedure for the president too, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.
flyfishingdad on September 25, 2009 at 7:50 PM
The clowns running the Burlington school district know better. They also know that they have no legal defense for their actions. It’s a little matter of a landmark Supreme Court case:
West Virginia School Board v. Barnette.
They are so done.

A modest proposal, and one that just might work in lightly populated school districts. If your district is doing a lot of propagandizing, introduce ballot measures to disband the district. Just shut it down.
Then, buy up the school buildings, clear out the junk text books, bring in good ones, then charge a modest fee for tuition.
friendlygrizzly on September 25, 2009 at 9:07 PM
I just watched a pair of really dumb parents , of one of these students, on Hannity.
With parents this f##cked up, clueless almost stoned and passive, no wonder the school district has no fear. These duo couldn’t even demand the principle of this school to be fired, even if the principle does it again !

Then apparently I missed part of Ermey’s comments. I apologize for my unjust criticism. Although I respect the office, the man occupying the office must EARN respect. And so far the only thing I’ve seen the present Commander in Chief do is campaign. And still, all of his records remained sealed.

Why didn’t she just have them learn and sing Abraham, Martin and John?
Good song.
I think it’s creepy to sing the praises of any sitting president. As a note, it seems that the art of presidential campaign songs never really took off. I have a 45 somewhere with some for JFK and others on it, and can’t remember any since the “Nixon Now” jingle. Usually they just use some pop or rock song.

IMHO, those parents need to keep closer tabs on their children, and grow a backbone. When my daughter was subject to such schenangians at her school I went directly to the principal, and read him the riot act sans foul language. That didn’t stop his SUCKratary from calling the local police on me though.
I wonder what they thought when the police agreed with me. HMMMM!!!
