Obamateurism of the Day
posted at 8:05 am on September 25, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
Last week, Chris Wallace told Bill O’Reilly that the current White House was “the biggest bunch of crybabies” he’d seen in his 30-year career. At the time, some dismissed that as sour grapes, after Barack Obama snubbed Fox News Channel for his “full Ginsburg” last Sunday. However, CNN discovered much the same thing after they booked author Christopher Andersen to discuss his new book about the Obamas, “Barack and Michelle: Portrait of an American Marriage” (via Cubachi and The Right Scoop):
A White House senior adviser was scheduled to appear on CNN’s “American Morning” this week, but the White House rescinded the offer after the network booked author Christopher Andersen. Andersen’s new book “Barack and Michelle: Portrait of an American Marriage,” is out today. …
During her interview with Anderson this morning, CNN’s Kiran Chetry said, “We reached out to the White House for a response to the book. They declined comment and made it known that they weren’t happy. In fact, they pulled an interview they had with a senior adviser once they learned you were on the show.”
How petty can they get? This is something one would expect to see in wars between talk-show hosts, not the leader of the Free World. Someone send a waaaaaaaahmbulance to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, please.

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.
Illustrations by Chris Muir of Day by Day. Be sure to read the adventures of Sam, Zed, Damon, and Jan every day!

Imagine how Obama is going to act when Russia, Iran and North Korea start snubbing him? What is he doing to do, not sit down without preconditions with them?
He must be used to playing good cop/bad cop. And Michelle Obama must take over for him when things don’t go his way.

Just wait until the Loser in Chief appoints a “Book Subject” czar and a “Talkshow Guest” czar. That will teach the public that they can’t just go around spewing the truth about his royal loserness. What a freakin’ crybaby. The administration and everyone associated with them are a bunch of kindergarten crybabies.

Presidenting is hard. It must be hard to be a golden child, given everything by affirmative action and suddenly finding yourself in a situation where you cannot fake competence. It almost makes me feel sorry for him, almost. He sucks and he is a putz.

I could understand if the administration were feeling pretty beaten up by the media and wanted to use one thing to show their displeasure. But this administration has been getting french kissed by the media in coverage and the media is blocking stories that they know would hurt the administration. This was a silly move.

I haven’t read the book (and won’t), but apparently it says, based on an interview with a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous), that the Obamas and Bill Ayers were good enough friends that when Obama got a second contract to write “Dreams of My Father” (having failed to fulfill the first by producing a manuscript), Michelle suggested he give all his notes and interview tapes to Ayers to get his help. This may be what his the White House knickers in a knot.
There is no way to know whether this is true or not, but if the book is as complementary as Anderson and the review he cites say, then it would be difficult to reconcile with Obama’s oft-repeated claim that he barely new Ayers, or perhaps even that he himself wrote “Dreams of My Father”.

anniekc on September 25, 2009 at 8:24 AM
I don’t know about that. The fact that they made it the White House snit over their interview of Anderson suggests that maybe, just maybe, CNN isn’t quite as willing to be manipulated to COA as they have been doing.

BigD on September 25, 2009 at 8:24 AM
It is not petty, it is their plan from the beginning…you punish the people who do not walk with you lock step.
It is not about being “thin skinned”, it is about control.
They have found that Obama is so popular, that the MSM (except for Fox) will do whatever they want, or Obama won’t give them the ratings…and seeing as their ratings are based on supporting Obama, they have painted themselves into the classic corner.
They can’t be independent…check mate for Obama.
It helps Fox for Obama to ignore Fox, and it hurts CNN for Obama to ignore them, since that is their base.

The “cry baby” talk and the pulling of the WH official from the CNN interview makes me think that the FLOTUS is behind this. We’re all pretty certain that The One has a thin skin, but you don’t really hear much from his wife on stuff. She seems like a woman prone to letting folks know what she thinks and why—and this book stuff is probably really hitting close to home, if you know what I mean.

ted c on September 25, 2009 at 8:28 AM
Any criticism of Odamna is, by definition, racist. It must be because He is the One, chosen by many to lead us into the socialist paradise we have been longing for. What we do not see happens behind closed doors… “Why do they hate me, Michelle?” with stomping feet and crocodile tears. The One has never had to actually DO anything and is completely unaware of how personal accomplishments occur. But, he’s your man if you want to put together a demonstration. Once he’s past the organizing, he hasn’t got a clue. I, for one, am looking forward to the public meltdown.

Beaglemom on September 25, 2009 at 8:57 AM
I think this is exactly right. The media needs to wake up, and maybe this and more of the same will eventually do it. I think they all probably thought it was pretty funny that Fox News & Chris Wallace were left off of Obama’s merry-go-round, but when it happens to some of the rest of them, they might look at it differently–although I’m probably giving them too much credit.
This is all about controlling the media. For the love of God, when are they going to see that?

While it was encouraging to see Sarcozy and Brown up on the podium with Obama admonishing the Iranians, this could hardly be called a 3 am moment. When Iran fires off a missle towards one of our allies, then we can call it a “crisis”. But, while I do agree that Iran’s defiance is quickly reaching a “boiling point”, this is not yet a comparison to JFK’s stand-off with Russia.
Rovin on September 25, 2009 at 9:06 AM
I’m not sure I’d call this pettiness. It seems more nefarious than that when interviews are granted based on performance of the network.
highhopes on September 25, 2009 at 9:06 AM
I wonder how long Bill Ayers is going to be willing to hold his tongue. When Dreams from My Father received rave critical reviews, was Ayers irked that he wasn’t able to claim the credit rightly due him, or was he so pleased by his creation (the “brilliant writer” Barry Obama) that he didn’t even care that all the credit for his literary work was going to someone else?
For anybody who hasn’t read Cashill’s analyses of Ayers’ authorship of Dreams, you may want to take a look (http://www.americanthinker.com/jack_cashill/). It’s very interesting reading.

There was a political cartoon with famous presidents and quotes: Lincoln: “A house divided against itself cannot stand”, Teddy Roosevelt: “Speak softly and carry a big stick”, FDR: “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”, and a wimpy-looking Jimmah: “I’ll be in my room”.
We have an “I’ll be in my room” president now.

No, we have a president who doesn’t like the hard task of leading. He likes the perqs of office, the attention, the media glare. What he doesn’t like is the work involved with the job- interferes with the ice cream runs, golf outings, weekends at Camp David or the $500K trips to see a play in NYC. He also doesn’t multi-task and his whole agenda is at a standstill because his campaign to seize the healthcare industry didn’t pass in August with minimal debate. God help us if the filthy liar should have to deal with a national crisis in the middle of one of these infomericals for the radical left.

Obama, Emanuel, Axlerod were all panty wipes when they were kids. You know the ones. We’ve all seen them growing up. The ones who had temper tantrums at 5 yrs of age on the grocery store floor. The ones who needed their butts wiped until they were 6 yrs old. The ones who stuck their hand out to mommy and daddy looking for some greenbacks before going on a date as a teen.
None have worked an honest day’s pay. They’ve been hemmed and hawed over their whole lives.

Here’s a BIG Obamateurism, and Gargantuan distortion. Rahm Emanuel said on the Charlie Rose show that:
1. Iran is freer because the Iranian people listened to the Cairo speech and, thus, protested. Not once did Charlie dispute such garbage by asking the primadonna why it was that the Obama admin. didn’t back the protesters to the fake vote.
2. Rahm claimed that relations with North Korea are now better off due to Obama. Not once did Charlie ask the dancer how many rockets were fired from N. Korea since he moved to the WH.
3. Rahm claimed that things are way better in Pokeehstan. Right! Yes, was not challenged on that one either.
Where the heck are the media? Oh, I know, otherwise locked.

No, it’s not about being thin-skinned, it is about the book. There are now 2 serious independent sources for the claim that Ayers wrote Dreams From My Father. If true, it means the president lied to millions of voters about this toxic relationship at a crucial point in the campaign. It’s unlikely that a buddy-of-a-terrorist would have been elected.
His claim that he was a kid when Ayers was blowing things up was true but not relevant to the persisting relationship question. He was not pressed on this, and the rest is history.

When will the MSM (the main offenders) learn to cut their videos down to size and send resolution and content appropriate for the Internet…instead of server-clogging Hi-def-quality video which can’t really be used.
YouTube needs to cut their bandwidth down to an appropriate size also. If people are saving this stuff to a DVD and viewing it on a high-resolution TV, they should get it through another channel. When this stuff is watched on a normal computer monitor, it’s just dysfunctionally s-l-o-w and painful to watch!!!
