More right-wing rage: Rush runs over Al Gore cutout — twice

posted at 5:55 pm on September 25, 2009 by Allahpundit

And Leno’s audience goes wild. I’m afraid to check Technorati for what I might find in the way of deep nutroots thinkin’ about the “climate of violence” created here, but there’s no avoiding big media, alas. I fear we’re in for a very special Frank Rich column indeed this Sunday, my friends.

First clip is the Goracle hit-and-run, second and third are Limbaugh’s chummy two-part chat with Jay. He’s posted the transcript in case you prefer skimming to watching. Quote:

I’m saying we’ve got enough mistakes the federal government’s run. We don’t need to compound it with more programs. I just believe the market will take care of it. Most of the people in this country are very happy with the health coverage, the health treatment that they get. There’s no reason to turn it all upside down. And all this is being done — Jay, I’ll tell you what really worries me about it. Forget the intricacies of health care. If the government gets control of health care, that’s the single best way that they get to control every aspect of our lives: what we eat, what we drive — because it will all have impact on health care costs, their responsibility via our taxes, and it’s just a mechanism whereby government grows and grows and grows and we lose liberty and freedom to it. And that’s what the problem with nationalized health care is. (applause)

I laughed so hard when I saw this. The guy who yelled Hit Al Gore was hilarious.

Yea Rush is a racist because he’s a consertive and Al is well not sure but he’s not a consertive so that makes Rush racist.

The Leno segments with Rush were great. The electric car episode was just plain hilarious. Too bad Rush could rip the Algore cutout off its tethers. But was it rage? Heck no. It was ridicule of the funniest kind.

BottomLine5 on September 25, 2009 at 7:13 PM

In Rushie’s place, I’d have gotten out and used my cigar lighter to set Cardboard Al on fire!

GeneSmith on September 25, 2009 at 7:14 PM

Sarah-cuda did SNL.

Mangy Scot on September 25, 2009 at 6:43 PM

Gov Palin did SNL but not as a host
When the announcer said ” and your host..”I remember a dude showing up to say “live from New York its Saturday night ”
But there are no videos of that SNL episode on you-tube , so my brain is kindda hazy

macncheez on September 25, 2009 at 7:15 PM

Saw this this morning and I was surprised how the audience reacted to Rush throughout both segments. After each point Rush made, the audience cheered – loudly.

Exit question: Did all of the liberals leave L.A. to attend the anti-capitalism protest in Pittsburgh?

yogi41 on September 25, 2009 at 7:17 PM

Rush looked great and had too much fun at Leno’s expense who had no answers for Rush’s points. Rush always says they can’t compete in the arena of ideas, right again.

Kissmygrits on September 25, 2009 at 7:18 PM

Hmmm….was that taped applause or is there really change on the horizon? I didn’t think there were that many Rush fans in Burbank, Ca. Or, maybe they flew in?

njpat on September 25, 2009 at 7:18 PM

The el rushie bushie was boring and put most people to sleep. The audience was just being polite to the big headed idiot.

Afrolib on September 25, 2009 at 7:25 PM

Jay was a great host and Limbaugh was a great guest! Great show!

MCGIRV on September 25, 2009 at 7:25 PM

Now if anyone does anything to algore within the next five years, Rush automatically goes to jail for a hate-crime. If an automobile is involved, it becomes racial and the sentence is doubled.

cjk on September 25, 2009 at 7:28 PM

LOL

and Rush looks great! Way to go Rushbo!!! You look awesome!

bridgetown on September 25, 2009 at 7:29 PM

Hilarious!

SouthernGent on September 25, 2009 at 7:31 PM

I was laughing so hard when he backed up and hit the cutout of algore again. Loved it!

evie on September 25, 2009 at 7:31 PM

Jay was a great host only because Rush wouldn’t let him get away with lib questioning. When he tried to ask Rush a lib question and piled another on before he could answer, Rush said, “Hey you’re not letting me answer the question.” But all in all, it was wonderful to see Rush hold his own, have fun, be funny and get wild applause! And it went just like he said on Wednesday, slowest time and wack the wackos.

Christian Conservative on September 25, 2009 at 7:33 PM

al gore was just a cut out, but the electric car was 100% real.

sesquipedalian on September 25, 2009 at 6:51 PM

Hey, that’s great!!!

Did they have to recharge the POS after 2 laps???

Afrolib on September 25, 2009 at 7:25 PM

Don’t think so, troll. We Angelenos aren’t that polite. :-)

Mary in LA on September 25, 2009 at 7:35 PM

Afrolib:

Oh please. I don’t always agree with Rush, but the man has a huge following, a very loyal following. My guess is a lot of the folks in that audience listen to Rush every day. You can pretend the guy is a nobody, but you would be wrong. Again.

Terrye on September 25, 2009 at 7:36 PM

We are all racists. At least according to Mr. Carter. I believe Rush has said that we will never get the liberals to agree with us. Let’s all learn to embrace it. It will take the wind right out of their sails.

I have to say — from a position of some expertise — that many “green” ideas, particularly those that relate to automobiles, are indeed practical, or will be in the near future.

My take on Begley, based on hearing him on numerous radio shows, etc., is that he has adjusted his lifestyle to suit his beliefs, and is comfortable with that. That he has an income that allows him to do things many of us can’t doesn’t lessen his sincerity.

Other people who are comfortably situated financially are massive consumers of resources with private jets, energy intensive homes and so on (yes, I’m thinking of Limbaugh).

I respect what Begley is doing.

Al Bore, on the other hand….

MrScribbler on September 25, 2009 at 7:40 PM

very funny,

CBarker on September 25, 2009 at 7:43 PM

This green bullshit is the biggest hoax of modern times. You can bet that there are plenty of deviants out there ready to make money off this crap. Should be called the ‘brown‘ movement.

cjk on September 25, 2009 at 7:46 PM

If Ford was smart they would have busted their ass to have one of these things sitting outside Rush’s house by the next morning

Aggie95 on September 25, 2009 at 7:48 PM

Aggie 95, so true, and better yet they should have a cutout of Al Gore taped to the front fender.

Carolina Kat on September 25, 2009 at 7:49 PM

LOL and used it in their adds in red states

Aggie95 on September 25, 2009 at 7:51 PM

They’d sell a million of ‘em! ;)

Carolina Kat on September 25, 2009 at 7:51 PM

Rush had the audiance pumped! Good for Leno for having him on.

Rush should have run over AL Gore before he got the $500 Million loan from the government (our tax dollars) for his private company.

TN Mom on September 25, 2009 at 8:03 PM

Was that a cardboard cut out ?? Or really him ??

cableguy615 on September 25, 2009 at 6:30 PM

OOooo… you really burned him with that one AfroTurd. What’s wrong? Did they kick you out over at Little Gullible Fools? And what the hell is a “rushie bushie”? Is that Ebonics or something?

ronnyraygun on September 25, 2009 at 8:28 PM

I know a fairly prominent guy who had dealings with both Governor Bush and VP Gore in the late 90′s. At the time he was still mainly a Democrat.

He came to loathe Gore so much that he couldn’t shut up about it. all of his friends knew of his Gore hatred. We looked into buying him a lifesize Gore cutout for him to take on his hunting trip to use for target practice, but we didn’t find one in time.

Anyway, I’ll have to show him this video. He’ll love it.

juliesa on September 25, 2009 at 8:39 PM

It’s about time Rush made it back to TV. Bravo.

Mojave Mark on September 25, 2009 at 8:40 PM

Rush did very well. He is not a made for TV kinda guy.

I enjoyed the positive response he got from the audience.

TheSitRep on September 25, 2009 at 9:02 PM

Great job, Rush!

Afrolib on September 25, 2009 at 7:25 PM

Ironic that the same can be said of the relationship of the Hot Air audience and yourself (although, “big-haired idiot” might fit you better, given your screen name and all.). But in the interest of fairness, let’s go find the liberal radio talk show host with 20 million listeners and have them…er, never mind. By the way, didn’t you hear? Glenn Beck boiled a live frog on Fox News.

Back to our regularly scheduled programming: Rush was magnificent. He’s been painted as some seething mountain of hate-mongering by the left, but with more prime time guest appearances demonstrating how amiable and humorous he is (as his radio audience already knows him to be), people will believe less and less in the garbage that the deadwood media spews about him in particular and conservatism as a whole.

Exit Answer: Since Al Gore’s hair (used to be) black, then yes, it was racist of Rush to do what he did…both times, so it was doubly racist.

Who is this Katherine that Rush is now dating? How did they meet?

I like how he talks about his animals ocasionally on his show.

I made sure I watched leno last night. I loved how Rush made a mockery of Algore by smacking him and backing up and smacking him again. TV Gold!!!

I don’t think so. It was only a cutout — not the big headed idiot himself.

unclesmrgol on September 25, 2009 at 10:24 PM

LOL “Rush is not made for TV”—he used to have his own fabulously funny show!

Props to Rush for participating in the re establishment of conservatism in pop culture.

Her name is Kathryn Rogers and I think she resembles Ann Coulter a bit. Punkin the cat is his and the dog he started mentioning recently is hers. You can see pictures of the happy couple and puppy here.

Terrie on September 25, 2009 at 11:57 PM

Leno was promoting the Ford electric car as saving the environment. Rush just laughed and said “It’s not saving the environment.” I loved it! If he had a chance to explain, I’m sure the segment sponsor Ford would complain.

jbinnout on September 26, 2009 at 12:01 AM

Most people don’t realize how much power electric drive trains are capable of! They’re usually capable of much higher torque and greater acceleration than ICE based drive trains…

…problem is… charging the battery. It takes too long right now.

Chaz706 on September 25, 2009 at 6:31 PM

Yep that is often not understood.

An electric motor delivers peak torque at startup, where ICE’s have a bell curve.

Rush was enjoying the “rush” of the torque at at startup, (he said this was the first time he drove an electric car).

The problem with electric cars, as you stated, is their range and charge times.

Personally speaking I could care less about being green (I am stocking up on incandescent lightbulbs) however if and when the Hydro fuel cell becomes viable I will be all over that.

F15Mech on September 26, 2009 at 12:46 AM

rednebulastudios on September 26, 2009 at 1:19 AM

Laurel and Hardy! Wow, it’s like living in a time warp. I feel so much better now. Who needs gloom/doom and jobs and stuff like that when we can be entertained!

Can’t wait for the Buzby Berkeley remakes!

Loved the clips. Hilarious.

As for Leno, I think he’s left of center but right of the median in his particular environment (geographically and vocationally). Could be wrong, but I see him sitting in the catbird seat.

Kept his word, let Conan take his spot. Had enough audience pull to negotiate an earlier show. If he keeps it in the middle (interviews who he needs to, avoids Lettermanesque libmania politicization, etc) his earlier timeslot can attract people who actually have jobs during the day, don’t want to stay up after midnight but would like to unwind with a laugh before bed.

He’s a GW guy, but the guy does love his cars and horsepower.
