Quote of the day

posted at 10:55 pm on September 24, 2009 by Allahpundit

“Obama had not as yet written anything. But he had taped interviews with family members. Andersen writes: ‘These oral histories, along with a partial manuscript and a truckload of notes, were given to Ayers.’ Look over those words. A man Obama said before the campaign — after conservative pundits continually raised the issue that he was friends with an ‘unrepentent terrorist’ — that he knew only in passing as someone in the neighborhood. He was simply an acquaintance — not someone he had any real friendship or relationship with. Yet Obama evidently gave Ayers his notes, tapes, and the small amount that he had already written…

Finally, Christopher Andersen concludes: ‘In the end, Ayers’s contribution to Barack’s Dreams From My Father would be significant — so much so that the book’s language, oddly specific references, literary devices, and themes would bear a jarring similarity to Ayers’s own writing.’…

Now Andersen gives no sources or names; the Obamas did not cooperate with him. Skeptics will argue that we have no way of knowing whether his claims can be verified, and we have no way of knowing the veracity of those he interviewed. Who, for example, was the Hyde Park neighbor he spoke with? Some might even argue that he reached his conclusion after reading Cashill’s original blog, without citing it. Andersen faces the same credibility problem Bob Woodward faces, since he is often charged with making outrageous charges in some of his books without offering any proof that conversations he could not have been privy to took place. But Woodward’s use of such a technique never has hurt his reputation. After all, he is Bob Woodward. Reviewers of Andersen’s book have had no compunction in labeling much of what he writes as pure ‘gossip.’”

If Obama wrote his own book, why the hell does Jack Cashill make a strong case that it looks so much like Ayers’?

ted c on September 24, 2009 at 11:01 PM

I was watching one of those forensics shows and there was someone on there who could identify people through their use of language..through what they wrote. She said that there is a unique voice for everyone and it can be identified, just like hand writing.

I wonder if someone like that could look at something Obama actually wrote {assuming something exists} and compare it to the book…the same with Ayers.

Ayers and Bammy have a lot in common. O is trying to get the affection of his father who abandoned him, and Ayers is trying to get the attention of his rich daddy. Ayers gets a hero/father figure vicariously and Barry gets a narrative that justifies all his rage.

Rationalization expertise has worn thin. Ask Hollywood.

PRAIRIE FIRE is written to communist-minded people,
independent organizers and anti-imperialists;

We are a guerrilla organization. We are communist women and men, underground in the United States

Our intention is to disrupt the empire … to incapacitate it, … to attack from the inside.

Our intention is to forge an underground … a clandestine political organization engaged in every form of struggle, protected from the eyes and weapons of the state, a base against repression, to accumulate lessons, experience and constant practice, a base from which to attack.

During 1995, the year he wrote this book for Obama:

1. Ayers worked with Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley in shaping the city’s school reform program, and was one of three co-authors of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge grant proposal that in 1995 won $49.2 million over five years for public school reform

2. In an interview published in 1995, Ayers characterized his political beliefs at that time and in the 1960s and 1970s: “I am a radical, Leftist, small ‘c’ communist … [Laughs] Maybe I’m the last communist who is willing to admit it.

Their founding document called for the establishment of a “white fighting force” to be allied with the “Black Liberation Movement” and other “anti-colonial” movements to achieve “the destruction of US imperialism and the achievement of a classless world: world communism.

faraway on September 24, 2009 at 11:46 PM

I see two major differences between AcornGate and WaterGate.

1) Obama’s connections to the ACORN crime syndicate run much wider and much deeper than Nixon’s did to the Watergate breakin. Plus he has got his corrupt sticky fingers in a lot of other mud pies too.

2) Back then there were Woodward and Bernstein and now there are Breitbart, O’Keefe and Giles, however the investigative reporters can not do it all by themselves. There need those in the MSM to be actually reporters doing a reporters job rather than worthless Presidential sock cuckers and lend their hands full force as they did back then. If they did Obama would probably be gone in a few months.
