Obamateurism of the Day

posted at 8:05 am on September 24, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Peter Kirsanow gets credit for this nugget from yesterday’s speech at the UN, where Barack Obama informed the gathered nations that

America will always stand with those who stand up for their dignity and their rights – for the student who seeks to learn; the voter who demands to be heard; the innocent who longs to be free; and the oppressed who yearns to be equal.

Really? Here’s the administration less than two months ago, standing with the voters who demanded to be heard in Iran:

How many of the nations do you think put more stock in Obama’s words than his actions?

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

Illustrations by Chris Muir of Day by Day. Be sure to read the adventures of Sam, Zed, Damon, and Jan every day!

The key to understanding Obama is to listen to what he says, and then understand that he is lying. He does not have the US best interests at heart and is willfully destroying more and more of our country’s greatness with each passing day.

TXMomof3 on September 24, 2009 at 8:09 AM

That’s not an Obamateurism, it’s an abomination, and it truly is, I don’t just say it to be cute.

bongo on September 24, 2009 at 8:09 AM

cmsinaz on September 24, 2009 at 8:10 AM

the voter who demands to be heard;

Whew! Good thing he’s called ANY elections held in Honduras “illegitimate”.

elduende on September 24, 2009 at 8:12 AM

It’s becoming uncomfortably clear that Obama is the reincarnation of Neville Chamberlain, only in blackface.

Racist? No. Just fact. Luckily, we’ll all have “peace in our time”.

Karl Marx has GOT to be laughing in hell.

theblacksheepwasright on September 24, 2009 at 8:12 AM

That’s racist!

How about standing with those who want to follow their constitution, such as Americans or Hondurans.

That’s funny he doesn’t seemed to choked up about the voters here that would like to be heard.

ProfessorMiao on September 24, 2009 at 8:16 AM

Obama DOES stand up for the rights of voters, all voters.
His support and his former employement in groups like ACORN help to ensure the voting rights for Democrats, Leftists, Communists, The Dead, Cartoon Characters, NFL Rosters, & the Hollywood Elite.

He only cares for voters who were naive enough to vote for him and I’m not even sure he cares about them. He doesn’t much care for the innocent babies who are ripped out of their mothers’ wombs or left to die on the floor after a botched abortion.

Beaglemom on September 24, 2009 at 8:21 AM

“You Lie”.

How is his lying to not only Americans but, the freaking world good for Michelle’s kids?

Complete and utter filthy liar.

milwife88 on September 24, 2009 at 8:22 AM

We’ll see how the President stands with the voters in 2010 and 2012.

yoda on September 24, 2009 at 8:24 AM

Actually, what Obama said was the exact truth. America will indeed stand with the voter, the innocent, the oppressed, etc. The problem is that Obama does not stand with these people — at least, not unless they have an official leftwing victim card.

It’s like a symphony when Obama speaks. Don’t listen to the words, their meaning, their context, their application to historical events, but listen to the sound of his voice and everything will be alright.

That’s essentially what he expects us to do.

I don’t even bother listening anymore. The filthy liar has so little credibility that there isn’t worth the effort.

highhopes on September 24, 2009 at 8:29 AM

I don’t care if he hears me anymore, I want him to watch what I do with my right to vote. Three more years of this b.s. and he will be handed a humiliating defeat.

sherry on September 24, 2009 at 8:30 AM

So the voters out throwing back their heads and howling at tea parties and town halls can count on this man “stand(ing) with” them? I guess it is only on election day that they need to express themselves, the rest of the time they are racists.

What happens to the vaunted respect for the “will of the voters” when the mid-terms go against the statists in office now? Will they stand with the voters who want to be heard then?

Silly, those people are racist. Not to mention basically teenagers who don’t know what’s best for them. Look, there is a reason we don’t let 16 & 17 year olds votes, and perhaps we should extend that to those who do not understand what is best for Michelle’s children.

rbj on September 24, 2009 at 8:42 AM

Does he not comprehend what he’s saying?

The more he speaks, the more I’m convinced of his desire to sacrifice himself and become a martyr. Someday, somewhere, some whacko will happily oblige him.

hillbillyjim on September 24, 2009 at 8:57 AM

Yes, for the first time ever, I am ashamed of my country’s leadership, not simply disappointed, disillusioned, angry.

I pinpoint Obama’s persistent attack on Americans, not simply content to smear “America”. He’s the worst of the worst in the most powerful of positions. And he absolutely means to shred us into pieces, as he is doing.

God Protect the Truth and Preserve Our Constitution:
I will never be ashamed of the real American Spirit; that would stifle its existence. “Your faith has made you whole.” I believe in the power of God to heal our wounds when we mend our ways.

It is impossible to take this guy seriously. This is the same person who over the summer sent out his tools to impugn the integrity of American voters who dared to disagree with him.

I don’t think I can take another 1138 days of this.

How much more damage can Osama Obama inflict on the United States?

After his speech and activities at the UN yesterday — which the NYT supports editorially today; there’s a clue to their destructive nature — the need to remove him from office has become critical.

Or do we wait until he caves in totally to our enemies and publicly runs the Constitution through the shredder?

MrScribbler on September 24, 2009 at 9:39 AM

rockmom on September 24, 2009 at 9:49 AM

This entire speech was an Obamateurism, because it was clearly dusted off from an old Institute for Policy Studies screed from 1979. Nothing in that speech addressed current issues, or thinking, or especially the state of democracy in the world today. It was all stale old Cold War/Third World/liberation theology crap. That speech could have been given by Daniel Ortega or Fidel Castro.

rockmom on September 24, 2009 at 9:52 AM

KS Rex on September 24, 2009 at 9:57 AM

What about standing with our allies, Obama? Consider this. A retired army ranger called in to Dr. Bennett’s show this morning. His cousins in the Polish army were to deploy to Afghanistan. That is until President Peacock trashed the missle defense plans. Now they are on stand down. Way to lead, prez.

It amazes me how many of those I ask are completely unaware that both of Obamas parents were Communists, unaware even of Van Jones and his radicalism, though it was just news. Highly intelligent folks that don’t have a clue as to what Obama is.
Head in the sand? More like Bread and Circuses, the ignorant masses must be awakened to the threat he presents to the liberties we hold dear and the very fabric of our economic system.
He intends to take the Imperialists down, as any good Communist would do.

America is, since it’s founding, an imperialist oppressive nation that flaunts it’s power over poor, underpowered dictatorships who only seek to be taken seriously on the world stage. As citizens of this oppressive regime we are equally guilty for the sins of America’s past and it is only right that we suffer for them. As President of the world Obama will see to it that the oppressed (dictators of the world) are raised up and the haughty and arrogant (us) are humbled. This is the ultimate redistributive justice.

What the ‘Won’ said:

America will always stand with those who stand up for their dignity and their rights – for the student who seeks to learn; the voter who demands to be heard; the innocent who longs to be free; and the oppressed who yearns to be equal.

What the ‘Won’ meant:

America will always suppress those who stand up for their dignity and their rights – , students will not learn; the voters will not be heard; the innocent will be enslaved (except for muslims); and the “oppressed” will ever be made MORE than equal.
