Breitbart: I thought Bertha Lewis was grateful that we exposed ACORN’s corruption

posted at 10:28 pm on September 24, 2009 by Allahpundit

Yeah, I thought so too. Follow that link and watch the clip — “they sort of did us a good service” — because if this travesty ever makes it to trial, you can rest assured that it’ll end up in the evidence file. That’s one of two key talking points here, touched on in both Breitbart’s clip and the one of Giles from “Hannity” that’s also embedded below. The other is the fact that because ACORN receives taxpayer funding, your money and mine is being used to fund this legal retaliatory strike. Which prompts a question that’s guaranteed to be impressed upon the jury: Who’s acting in the greater “public interest” here? O’Keefe and Giles, by exposing corruption at a publicly supported nonprofit? Or ACORN, by applying the cash they’re supposed to be using to help the poor to suppress the evidence of it?

No surprise, per Breitbart’s aside, that the response to Hannah’s defense fund has been “overwhelming” so far.

I enjoy the site and enjoy reading the commented posts. I believe that AP and Ed are the best on the internet as to date. I don’t mind being called a troll for voicing an opinion. I tend to disagree with a good many of the posts, but I’m always keeping an open ear.

Dear dmann and Carolina Kat,
I may be mistaken but after a quick review of posts, it seems like you two are on the same side.

Ron Paul seems a little out there, but to be honest I don’t know that much about him. Mostly, what I remember reading in an article Tucker Carlson wrote for the New Republic: http://www.tnr.com/article/pimp-my-ride Yowza. But then again, I voted for Pat Buchanan every time he was in the primary, and by gum, I’d do it again!

Breitbart and Hannah must have some evil ulterior motive to expose such good-intentioned, hard-working supporters of the One!

How dare you interrupt them as they pave the road to Hell!

With these people it’s practically an instinctive response. Groups like ACORN are designed from the ground up to crush individuals in support of the poltical re-election machine.

Apparently the suits haven’t even been served yet. So far this is just the pro-forma media smear campaign and civil suit threats they use against anyone who stands up to them.

ACORN’s tactics have crushed dissent of many precincts and individuals in the past. What’s different now is that people are finally uniting to stand up to them. They have never faced anything like that before and, like any bully, they don’t have the slightest clue how to deal with it.

Once a thug, always a thug.

Hahahahahaha. You think Team Obama want this story to linger for months in the headlines as people are deposed, and motions for discovery are filed? You think the community organizer and chief wants people reminded that that was his one gig…his one trick pony before elbowing his way into politics?

Keep dreaming.

Breitbart and every taxpaying American should be pleased. You must stand up to bullies otherwise they continue to shakedown the very people that pay their freight.

And that defense fund is going to more than pay for Giles and O’Keefe’s defense.

If they can get it declared a SLAPP, they’ll take attorney’s fees from ACORN. If they’re righteous, at that point they’ll refund everyone’s contributions to the fund. Maybe even with a little interest, but I doubt that it can earn much in a demand account. The interest might be enough to cover the expenses of the fund’s own internal accounting, though.

Either that or commission Hannah and James action figures to be given to the contributors.

Me, too. I was more than urged to watch him by my son. I think he gets way too emotional for my tastes. I’ve given up entirely on O’Reilly (after his interview with Obama), stick to Special Report nowadays, especially since Krauthammer has crossed the line from finding Obama supremely intelligent, to the dirt-bag idiot that he really is. Anyway, back to Beck, I totally stand and applaud at his superb, sneaky re-coil from the left on the subject on Acorn. Maybe, after all, it was as simple as that and I just
didn’t understand.

Current events are proving you wrong–census dumping ACORN, the IRS dumping ACORN and IRS IG now investigating ACORN, and other authorities jumping in. ACORN is important short term and long term because it completely undermines our American way of life. It’s a cancer; indeed, it’s a plague.

Beyond all that, I thought Obama’s administration could do more than one thing.

BuckeyeSam on September 25, 2009 at 8:15 AM

ACORN is going to quietly drop this suit in the next weeks or months. They’re like a one legged man in a butt kicking contest on this one. The result will quicken the revelation of all the intertwining corrupt and fraudulent tentacles it has with union thugs (SIEU) and other front organizations associated with voter fraud and intimidtion and vote stealing. Why invite all this when they should be on their knees in front of the democrat socialist fellow travelers begging for some way out of all this (with funding intact, of course)?

Folks, Chuck Grassley’s office released this document above, a report into ACORN. It appears to RIP into the corrupt funneling of money into ACORN from at least 10 tax exempt organizations.

Chuck Grassley is bringing out the boom stick on these guys.

SirGawain on September 25, 2009 at 9:41 AM

Afrolib I have a question for you and how do you think that Obama can make communism work here in the USA when Brezhnev and Gorbachov could not make it work in the old USSR? Likewise Castro can’t keep the shelves full in Cuba either and he has had since 1959 to do so? Also why is it that none of these communist states have an immigration problem problem that they have here. I would love to hear your answers.

This is actually a FANTASTIC thing for those who despise ACORN. By the time the lawyers get done crawling up the proverbial arse of this particular monster, the dirty little trails are gonna lead straight into the lap of their Golden God, Barack Obama.

I guarantee this will NOT make it beyond a few motions, not only because the whole thing is ridiculous, but also because the Obama Administration will not stand around and let the presidency of the First Black President (have to capitalize that, don’t you know…) be besmirched by the actions of some group of criminals and crooks. The problem is, I don’t see how this presidency can NOT be tarnished by this issue.

ACORN, after all, is a large part of how this man got elected. All these investigations into fraudulent voter registrations are, I’d be willing to bet, just the tip of the iceberg. I bet the margin by which this man won the election would be a WHOLE lot smaller should the bad registrations be thrown out. Why the hell do you think ol’ Harry “God you little people STINK” Reid is blocking investigations into ACORN?

I’m so happy to have finally found an issue upon which I feel completely free to point at libs and laugh about.
