My point was: he holds up the Bible as the be all end all guide to life without a shred of acknowledgement that most of the world believes in something else or nothing at all.
--He does? Consider the wording of gary's question. He never says "I subscribe to the beliefs of some Christian folks that the bible (which one?) predicted the establishment of modern Israel." The implication of his question relates more to the rather fatuous insistence of so many people that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad didn't say what he said about the Holocaust, Israel, and on occasion Jews in general because there was some sort of wonky error in translation.

most of the world believes in something else or nothing at all

Umm, no.

33% of the world population is Christian, more than any other belief system. Islam is the next largest religion, with 20% of the population. Since Islam respects the authority of the Hebrew prophets and Scriptures, that makes 53% of the world population. (Rather a larger group than the 2.5% that are atheists.)

Regarding the name-calling… remember that “ad hominem” is Latin for, “I’m out of ideas; you win.”

No. My point was: he holds up the Bible as the be all end all guide to life without a shred of acknowledgment that most of the world believes in something else or nothing at all. What his book predicts matters; everyone else’s is completely wrong. Arrogant and an idiot.

I'm not sure what you think my point was with this response. By definition, those who believe in those religions with prophesies also believe the others are wrong, as the vast majority are completely contradictory (the rest just contradictory).

He might be arrogant, but his point wasn’t. Either prophesies in bibles are true, or they aren’t. His point about Israel is that the Christian Bible seems accurate there. You can disagree, but he doesn’t say anything in that comment about no other prophesies being incorrect.

Also, give me an f-ing break. You get to choose your own religion, and it’s completely illogical for someone to choose one and not believe what it says. Most religions claim they are THE way to God and enlightenment. Saying you agree with your own religion is no more arrogant than saying you agree with a particular philosopher.

Regarding Obama's horrendous UN speech, Fred Thompson just made a great point from Irving Kristol, arguably the father of neo-conservatism, author of The New Cold War, 1975.

Kristol’s point that Fred made was that our President, Obama, has yet to learn a tantamount basic lesson. In order for the US to attain the respect from world opinion, the US must first respect itself, respecting our entire founding philosophy that serves as the basis of our nation’s history.

Obama did not mention the Taliban, al Qaeda, or Pakistan. Yet Obama brags of joining the UN human rights most hypocritical and criminal council. Obama's "Collective Action", where does it congregate to do something positive? And on unilateralism, Obama is stuck on stupid, as 35 countries joined together on something doth not unilateral make.

Canada is no conservative bastion either — so it’s saying something.

Richard Romano on September 23, 2009 at 4:23 PM

Actually, if you take a look at a map of the 2008 election results, you will see that actually Canada is basically conservative. All of that Blue you see is Conservative territory. The only reason that the Fibs seem to run our Country is because Toronto is constantly Red, and they hold far too many seats to make the outlook much different. If the folks of Toronto would get their heads out of their a**es, w would definitely have a Con majority for both the Federal and Provincial government. (Toronto gave the Fibs exactly half of the seats in the last election (38) with the others split between the rest of the Country. Plus, keep in mind that the large swatches of orange actually hold only a few seats-not enough to make too much of a difference).

It’s a very political one with more hope for it to play well with Canadian voters than to make Canada look tough on the international stage.
--Of course it's "political." That's why he's in politics.

That Harper might agree with those voters and personally think Ahmadinejad is a buffoonish bigot and a hump and a boob and etc. probably figures into his condemnation too.

MrX when you began your diatribe by saying you hate Harper, you inadvertently removed any guise of relevance. The word hate that comes so easily to liberals is the first sign of bigotry that is a common bond to them. Look up the definition of bigot in the dictionary. "One who is intolerant of others beliefs." Liberalism and bigotry are synonymous.

The Canadians did what Americans have to do. They let the liberals almost destroy their country and their way of life like they are attempting to do here. Harper, being a conservative, brought them back from the brink. The problem this country has is that we don't seem to have leaders with the moral compass of a Harper. Obama is a counterfeit tool of the anti-American fanatical left. Nothing more, nothing less. He is exactly the result of the propaganda machine called the mainstream media and they, as he, are owned and operated by a movement to bring our country to its knees.

Hey Dave742, I probably will never get an answer to this question but I will try anyway. You know that some Christian folks think that Israel was predicted to be established again according to the bible. If this is true are you going to call the bible a liar? They say Israel may lose ground and lose some battles but no one will ever defeat her and this probably will really anger you knowing that we will always have Israel around. No one yet has brought up this angle and I wonder who you will deal with it? I imagine you will scoff and and deny the bible prophecies and you are free to do so.
