Video: And now, an important message from celebrities on ObamaCare
posted at 4:10 pm on September 22, 2009 by Allahpundit
People I recognized in this video: Ferrell, the schmuck from “Mad Men,” and, tragically, Tom Lennon and Ben Garant of the late, great “Reno 911!” Thank goodness in hindsight that it was canceled this summer; the thought of having to boycott it over these two cutting an ad for one of the filthiest, most unprincipled left-wing PACs in Washington fills me with sadness.
As always with these spot-the-celebrity political spots, it’s boring and three times longer than it needs to be simply in order to accommodate everyone involved with sufficient camera time. Not one in 10 of you will make it all the way through, but as an incentive to get you to try, you’ll discover that (a) apparently 80 percent of America is gung ho for the public option, which is news to me and to the dozens of Blue Dogs terrified of what’ll happen to them next year if they vote for this sinkhole, and (b) people who make millions churning out one unwatchable piece of bilge after another inexplicably feel no shame in accusing insurance executives of being overpaid. Happy viewing.
Update (Ed): Here’s Will Farrell’s pay from a few of his movies, courtesy of IMDB:
Salary
- Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006): $20,000,000
- Bewitched (2005): $20,000,000
- Kicking & Screaming (2005): $20,000,000
- Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004): $7,000,000
No one who pocketed $20 million for any movie, let alone Bewitched and Talladega Nights, has any room to talk about overpaid execs.

45% of real doctors are against ObamaCare. But 100% of TV doctors with a free afternoon to be in a web video are for it!
Jim Treacher on September 22, 2009 at 4:33 PM
I didn’t recognize that one brunette on there. I recognized everyone else. Reno 911 guys, Turk, ER’s Sam from the crappiest era of ER, and of course Will Ferrell with the pubic hair fro. Anyone else?

Alinsky’s Rule 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”
Having actors – i.e. so-called “adults” who never matured out of playing “house” and “cops-n-robbers” – lecture Americans on anything is ridiculous…and thus, present a perfect target for ridicule.
The answer to this crap is to film a commerical that mimics the lighting, tone, etc….but with real experts, like doctors.
Something like this:
“Hi. I’m not a professional actor – like Will Ferrel. I’m a professional doctor – who actually knows what he’s talking about.”
Easy to do and devastating.

Let’s apply this rhetoric to the enterprise in which these actors engage…
anybody up for an expose of their lifestyles while they pollute the minds of American youth and collect obscene paychecks?
The irony is rich.

The Mad Man guy went to John Burroughs Prep in STL. where last year’s Prom invite had a “satan” theme. Here are some excerpts:
“ Calling all Sinners
We request your presence in Hell
Let the sin begin
Continue the sin @ after Prom” “
What do yo expect?

I’m not going to be able to stay away from Mad Men. I’m hooked. I need help.
The last episode with the riding mower and the clueless Brits was the best one yet.
Maybe I will just close my eyes when Draper is in a scene.

Or a 99.999% tax on everything they make above 250K.

Talk about a waste of time, money and energy.

Eh, separate the actor from the activist.
“The Hunt for Red October” is still a must watch movie for me if I encounter it while channel surfing, even though Baldwin doesn’t rate high on my list of favorite actors.

Remember, this is a video that is being played in over 7,000 schools and churches and is being used to indoctrinate our children.

If the majority of Hollywood knew how the majority of Americans felt about them, they’d be ashamed of themselves. Then again, that would require having a conscience, eh?
I think moderates and conservatives have wisened up and are learning to spot “lies” and “acting”. Hence the tanking of the 0′s ratings.

She was in Freaks and Geeks, so I’m willing to forgive this one transgression. But she’s on thin ice. I tolerated Janeane Garafalo’s antics for years because she was on The Ben Stiller Show, but I’d finally had enough with her after the tea party remarks.

Are we ready to stop idolizing these boneheads and put our money where our mouth is? Let’s let Hollywood beg for a bailout. Spend time with your kids outside. Read a book. Pick up a new hobby.
Think about it. Movies, sitcoms and dramas for the most part are about other people living their lives. Why don’t we live our own and maybe, just maybe we might get to know our neighbor.
