Paterson: Obama’s just cranky because he hasn’t accomplished jack

posted at 9:43 pm on September 22, 2009 by Allahpundit

Currently blaring at the top of the page on Drudge. I can’t tell anymore: Is this racist or not?

If not, I think he just won my vote.

I understand the president’s concern, but I understand the concern of staff members at the White House. If you look at it from their perspective, they haven’t exactly been able to govern in the first year of their administration the way other administrations have, where you would theoretically have a period in which the new administration is allowed to pass some of the needed legislation.

Every state accepted stimulus money – some said they weren’t, but all accepted stimulus money – it was shocking that the vote on the stimulus money for the ARRA went along party lines. Here, with the healthcare legislation, they’re talking about negotiating to get one Republican senator to vote with them – they can’t get one Republican?

It’s not them, it just seems to be the point of view that: what we’re gonna do, in the middle of a recession – and it’s a good thing that neither of the political parties were thinking of doing this in the Great Depression – but in the middle of the recession is: ‘we’re going to leave off, sit around, and blame the other side.’ See, it’s all “their fault.”

So – from their perspective, losing any exec seats, losing any Cong. Seats, losing any seats in the State Senate is very important.

As much as it grieves me to defend The One, (a) is this really a knock on him? It sounds like Paterson’s blaming congressional turmoil on the GOP’s recalcitrance, “party of no” and all that jazz. If he wanted to rub Obama’s face in the deadlock, he would have knocked him for not having a strong enough hold on his own party to iron out a compromise between Blue Dogs and progressives. And (b) remind me again, why are we supposed to be miffed that Obama’s nudging Paterson towards the exit? The guy, quite simply, is an electoral catastrophe. Think I’m exaggerating? If state AG Andrew Cuomo is the Democratic nominee for governor next year, he beats Giuliani by fully 13 points. If Paterson’s the nominee, Giuliani wins — by 17 points. Head to head in the Democratic primary, Cuomo tops the incumbent governor by, wait for it, 46 points. He’s a sitting duck, in other words, which means the only question is whether he’s going to step aside with dignity or hold on and force Cuomo to put him out of his misery in a potentially rancorous primary. That’s why The One’s leaning on him. Well, that and the racism, of course.

Don’t forget your promise AP, we’ll be watching.

And speaking of racism. The leader of the GOP is ‘all the way black’, so that means any opposition to Republican proposals is racist.

Pow!

BadgerHawk on September 22, 2009 at 9:48 PM

That must hurt.

The sytax is twisted, but yes, he’s saying that the GOP is being irresponsible to not work with the Dems on legislation.

It’s an odd version of “I understand why he threw me under the bus.”

AnninCA on September 22, 2009 at 9:50 PM

Now this is how it is supposed to go. They should be eating their own like this, since they are the ones with power. Rats on a sinking ship. Let’s save the talk radio feuds on our end for a time that isn’t so critical.

I really don’t like Cuomo….so I guess Paterson should take BO to the mattresses.

So, what we have here is evidence that even a blind man can see that Obama’s a horribly ineffectual leader.

Priceless!

Tough sh*t. The Democrats made their own bed with their years of bad-faith accusations of lying, hypocrisy on their own corruption and malfeasance, etc.

Now they want political fig leaves to cover their asses?

F’em. They are reaping what they spent years sowing. Next year and 2012 are the harvest.

Obama’s just cranky because he hasn’t accomplished jack

It can’t be that, he hasn’t accomplished anything before he became President, either.

Socratease on September 22, 2009 at 9:53 PM

One of the things that has made the White House angriest at Paterson is his linking his woes to the president’s. The last time was about race, of course, which made it worse.

I like it. Any comment against Republican positions means the person saying it is a racist, obviously. No matter how much they deny that they’re being a racist, they are – they just don’t know it. Or can’t admit it. Or will only admit behind closed doors. But they’re all racists, of course.

They counter that by calling him an “oreo” (or Uncle Tom, house ni**er, etc.) and isn’t really black.

I don’t care what the reason is, I just want them to continue fighting amongst themselves. I want it loud and public too and the more of them involved the better. I want the see their whole party come unglued. And yes I want him to fail, miserably. Does that make me a racist?

pugwriter on September 22, 2009 at 10:09 PM

HAHA I love to see the Lib’s own blatant racisim bite them all in the ass. Remember Blago? He had to appoint someone to Obama’s seat and every Liberal black politician in Chicago was terrified that it would go to a white man because it was now all of the sudden a “black” seat. So they ended up looking like a bunch of clueless A-holes and are now represented by Roland Burris.

Cue Paterson playing the exact same liberal race-card to try and trump any oposition to his ascendancy to the position of being the second legitimate black govenor in the nation and probably the second least popular one as well.

I thought it was direct dig at Axelrod and Rham — they can’t get the presidents agenda handled and yet their running around asking people to bow out on behalf of the impotent one. They’re super failures.

There is so much low hanging fruit to go after on the other side that I have a hard time stomaching pissing matches between blogs and talk radio. We agree on policy about 80% of the time, so why are we wasting our time attacking each other when everyone in power is trying to push things we disagree with 90% of the time?

Just take the link off altogether and let them be the “reasonable” token republicans that will go on air, take their eye off the ball, and go after the wrong enemy.
