Paterson: Obama’s just cranky because he hasn’t accomplished jack

Currently blaring at the top of the page on Drudge. I can’t tell anymore: Is this racist or not?

If not, I think he just won my vote.

I understand the president’s concern, but I understand the concern of staff members at the White House. If you look at it from their perspective, they haven’t exactly been able to govern in the first year of their administration the way other administrations have, where you would theoretically have a period in which the new administration is allowed to pass some of the needed legislation.

Every state accepted stimulus money – some said they weren’t, but all accepted stimulus money – it was shocking that the vote on the stimulus money for the ARRA went along party lines. Here, with the healthcare legislation, they’re talking about negotiating to get one Republican senator to vote with them – they can’t get one Republican?

It’s not them, it just seems to be the point of view that: what we’re gonna do, in the middle of a recession – and it’s a good thing that neither of the political parties were thinking of doing this in the Great Depression – but in the middle of the recession is: ‘we’re going to leave off, sit around, and blame the other side.’ See, it’s all “their fault.”

So – from their perspective, losing any exec seats, losing any Cong. Seats, losing any seats in the State Senate is very important.

As much as it grieves me to defend The One, (a) is this really a knock on him? It sounds like Paterson’s blaming congressional turmoil on the GOP’s recalcitrance, “party of no” and all that jazz. If he wanted to rub Obama’s face in the deadlock, he would have knocked him for not having a strong enough hold on his own party to iron out a compromise between Blue Dogs and progressives. And (b) remind me again, why are we supposed to be miffed that Obama’s nudging Paterson towards the exit? The guy, quite simply, is an electoral catastrophe. Think I’m exaggerating? If state AG Andrew Cuomo is the Democratic nominee for governor next year, he beats Giuliani by fully 13 points. If Paterson’s the nominee, Giuliani wins — by 17 points. Head to head in the Democratic primary, Cuomo tops the incumbent governor by, wait for it, 46 points. He’s a sitting duck, in other words, which means the only question is whether he’s going to step aside with dignity or hold on and force Cuomo to put him out of his misery in a potentially rancorous primary. That’s why The One’s leaning on him. Well, that and the racism, of course.

Mr. Bobby Rush, the congressman from the great state of Illinois and SEN Roland Burris should stand up in the defense of his freedom and if he’d like to run, then a run he shall make.

It’s not that 0 is cranky because he hasn’t accomplished anything, it’s that people KNOW he hasn’t accomplished anything. EVER.

Some are still willing to pretend that he did something….anything useful, at least for now.

He’s a bum that should never have been elected, that’s pretty damn clear. What does that say about the mush heads that voted for him…

Some years ago, Fidel Castro was at an Ibero-American summit meeting in Madrid and he ran into a college professor of mine in their hotel elevator. Castro’s entire security detail had just defected en masse and my professor (who had been a close ally of his and a guerrilla commander with Castro before Castro threw him jail)looked at him and asked him how much it hurt him personally and politically to lose so many people and to know so many stood against him.

Without missing a beat, Castro told him he didn’t care how many he lost because he was still in power and the only people that mattered were the ones he still had under his control.

Barry is probably going to have to adopt this attitude soon.

Barry chose the weakest Dem he could find to throw under the bus. Big woop. Now Barry can conveniently defend against charges of his own racial bias because he threw in the sacrificial bro. They’re both blind and dumb.

One can only hope that Paterson will fight Cuomo in the gubernatorial primary and do so by playing the race card. Infighting among Dems is most entertaining.

We’re not “miffed.” We’re thrilled. Such overt displays of in-fighting are just further proof of a party in disarray. I say: carry on, Paterson, fight with every bit of strength and every advertising dollar in your possession. Fight Cuomo until neither of you have anything left. And then, stand back and make way for Rudy. Heh.

ginaswo on September 22, 2009 at 11:00 PM

why should we care? well if you believe in states rights the image of a federal government telling a sate who to run for its leadership postion raises some concerns.

Maybe Obama should worry more about forgien plocy then complete 100% control of domestic politics.

with the Glen beck movement gaining stream it is not politically smart to be seen in the affairs of state’s gov.

And the polls that show cumo winning by +13 is a great sign that the dems arew only up by +13 before any major neg stories come out. Rudy could make the race closer. So the polls are worthless. I’m surprised no GOP outfit are running public polls in CA and NY

Why I thought any little boy or girl could grow up and become whatever he or she wanted to be because they live in America where they have the freedom to choose their life paths. Oh yeah that’s right. Didn’t I hear something about Obama desiring to “steer” people into vocations? Or was I taking meds for pain at that time? That’s a little like the Dems putting pressure on those in Congress who were waffling on some of the voting stating “vote our way or we’ll make sure you never hold office again.” If Patterson wants to drain his coffers and run for office again, he should be able to and there’s nothing to say he couldn’t run in opposition to the One’s desires. This President has to learn that he can’t just tell people what they are supposed to do and have them respond the way he wants them to. He’s not God, he’s not the king of the whole world–yet. Patterson, you want to run, run. I wouldn’t vote for you because, unless they are doing marvelous things in office right now, I’m voting out all imcumbents–most especially Democrats. As far as “not having the chance to govern the way others have in the past” that’s because he’s still got the training wheels on his desk in the Oval Office. Stop whining Barry. Be a man.

Driefromseattle on September 23, 2009 at 5:05 AM

A rancorous primary battle between Cuomo and Patterson could benefit Giuliani. Even though he’s too liberal for me, he might be just right for New York. Not sure if it would translate to Republicans taking NY in the national race. Seems a bit of a stretch to me but I’ve been horribly wrong before.
