Biden: If the GOP takes back the House next year, it’s the end of Hopenchange

posted at 8:33 pm on September 21, 2009 by Allahpundit

So it is. Thanks for the campaign commercial, sucka.

Vice President Joe Biden said today that if Democrats were to lose 35 House seats they currently hold in traditionally Republican districts, it would mean doomsday for President Obama’s agenda.

Biden said Republicans are pinning their political strategy on flipping these seats.

“If they take them back, this the end of the road for what Barack and I are trying to do,” the vice president said at a fundraiser for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) today in Greenville, Delaware…

Biden said these House seats are Republicans “one shot” at breaking the Obama administration’s agenda. But if Democrats can hold on to those seats, “the dam is going to break,” he said, and a new era of bipartisanship will begin.

Really? If the GOP picks up, say, 20 seats next year, moving within striking distance of retaking the House in 2012, the battle plan ahead of the next presidential election is going to be … “play nice”? When opposition to big government is more popular than ever? It must be fun to live in Joe Biden’s world.

Of course, we know from Glenn Beck that there are worse things than Hopenchange so maybe a Democratic pick-up next year will usher in a cool new era.

Muuuhhuuuuhaaaaa!!! Notice Giffords has to fundraise in DC. Thats because the Tucson Tea Party movement is all over her for her votes on cap and trade and forthcoming healthcare, she avoided them as long as she could and was informed WE DONT WANT IT at the one townhall she had…

Now THERE’S a reason to HOPE!

CHANGE IS COMING, Mr. Biden. Embrace change and stop being a supporter of the status quo and an opponent of change.

The current status quo, by the way, is Obama, by definition.

When opposition to big government is more popular than ever?

So much so that Obama likely won’t get through health care reform or cap and trade.

I can’t say I understand the risk to Obama’s foreign policy enough to understand the outrage in seeing this unexpected shift as a net positive over a McCain presidency.

This presidency so far has been a slow-motion train wreck. I find I just can’t look away.

Does a ‘new era of bipartisanship’ mean that Obama will quit calling Republicans liars?

ProfessorMiao on September 21, 2009 at 8:49 PM

Biden’s in a great position right now. He has no shot at running in 2012 or 2016. He’s well liked by Dems and the GOP. I mean does anyone here hate the guy? He’s a doofus, but a lovable doofus. He’s had a 35 year career in the Senate. His son will be the next Sen from Delaware thanks to his name.

So he doesn’t really give a f**k what he says or does. He’s just there are the window dressing for Obama…the old white dude, there to make fellow old white dudes in Florida feel comfortable voting for the young black guy. His job is done. Now he can kick back and do whatever, and say whatever he feels like without any repercussions.

And you have to admire a guy like that. Here to you Joey…

John the Libertarian on September 21, 2009 at 8:50 PM

I was at a tea party a couple of months ago. One of the speakers was an independent who ran as a third party for congress. The theme of his speech was to work WITHIN the party now. Things are critical and the only way to get things going in the right direction is to work with the existing parties. He said parties but the context was clear he was talking about working with the Republican party.

Biden has been sandbagging Obama the whole way. He is secretly a Conservative caught up in a terrible, twisted drama of sex, revenge, betrayal and a secret CIA conspiracy gone horribly wrong.

Film at 11.

GunRunner on September 21, 2009 at 8:57 PM

Biden seems to be dreaming of a return to the Clinton years. Most likely he feels Republican initiated legislation will make Obama look more centrist and as a result more popular (i.e. welfare reform). He’s delusional if he thinks that will allow him to move seamlessly from VP to President. There will be plenty of reasons for the electorate to be tired of a Democrat run White House after Obama regardless of who is in charge of Congress.

AP, when you do as much as Beck has done to expose the Obama administration for what it is you can speak up. Your distaste for your bettors is getting ugly. I am sure your boss is looking over your shoulder. May you need to keep your limp weapon pointed in the same direction as the rest of us. McCain would have been worst than Obama. He would have gotten republicans to help on cap and trade as well as amnesty and other liberal agenda items. With Obama, he is so radical those things can be fought. But then, Beck is smarter than you are anyway.
