Biden: If the GOP takes back the House next year, it’s the end of Hopenchange

posted at 8:33 pm on September 21, 2009 by Allahpundit

So it is. Thanks for the campaign commercial, sucka.

Vice President Joe Biden said today that if Democrats were to lose 35 House seats they currently hold in traditionally Republican districts, it would mean doomsday for President Obama’s agenda.

Biden said Republicans are pinning their political strategy on flipping these seats.

“If they take them back, this the end of the road for what Barack and I are trying to do,” the vice president said at a fundraiser for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) today in Greenville, Delaware…

Biden said these House seats are Republicans “one shot” at breaking the Obama administration’s agenda. But if Democrats can hold on to those seats, “the dam is going to break,” he said, and a new era of bipartisanship will begin.

Really? If the GOP picks up, say, 20 seats next year, moving within striking distance of retaking the House in 2012, the battle plan ahead of the next presidential election is going to be … “play nice”? When opposition to big government is more popular than ever? It must be fun to live in Joe Biden’s world.

Of course, we know from Glenn Beck that there are worse things than Hopenchange so maybe a Democratic pick-up next year will usher in a cool new era.

Vice President Joe Biden said today that if Democrats were to lose 35 House seats they currently hold in traditionally Republican districts, it would mean doomsday for President Obama’s agenda.

So, if flipping 35 seats, leaving Democrats in control of the House, means doomsday for obama, lets flip 40 or more seats and retake the House completely.

What, you might ask, could possibly be even better than Doomsday for Obama?

I don’t see any scenario where they won’t be a massive seat change in the House next year. The sleeping giant of Middle America (in political preference, not geographical location)has awoken and won’t stand for our country to be “fundamentally transformed”.

The Senate? I still think the Dems will lose 5 seats as a minimum.

2010 is looking pretty good for the GOP if they can get back to limited government and America standing tall instead of cowering.

higher interest rates
higher unemployment

Oh that Joe! Truth is Obama’s adenda is already in doomsday mode; the WH has been chasing it’s Democratic tail on Obamacare since June. Closing Gitmo is an epic fail. Not sending additional troops to Afganistan. They can use all the make-belive unicorn math they craft, but the unemployment is at 9.4%; where are the JOBS promised by Obama? Mandating fines for anyone without health insurance is a TAX INCREASE and breaks his campaign promise of “not raising taxes for 95% of Americans”.

What agenda?

NathanG on September 21, 2009 at 10:31 PM

The Dems WILL lose seats next year, it’s just a question as to how many. Personally, I don’t see much on the horizon from O and Co. that could keep the number of lost seats respectable (save a vastly improved economy), but I see lots that could make the losses horrific, which is why a vote on the NHC legislation almost seem like suicide. OT, but the gubernatorial races in VA and NJ could influence what the Dems do w/r/t the NHC vote. If the Dems lose those races big, then there may some some, shall we say “inner reflection” from the Dems on how that vote may hasten them to the UE line.

Biden: If the GOP takes back the House next year, it’s the end of Hopenchange

Mmmm…not necessarily…

Obviously, they have been working at warp speed in order to push through Marxist programs that they know RINOs will not do away with (because they rarely ever have in the past) due to the inertia of said Marxist programs that RINOs never want to deal with, and besides, the RINOs like the $ rolling in and the power they can wield as well. They simply say, “Oh, well the Democrats put that in…no, we’re not going to get rid of it as that would be irresponsible and cost too much and too many people have come to rely on those programs.”

So, every time the Dumocrats get elected the country moves a few inches closer to the left as it is too difficult for real conservatives to get elected in numbers to make a difference.

Americans complain about the big bad government, but once they get a taste of the government pie they are loathe to go on a diet.

farright on September 21, 2009 at 8:51 PM

Gabby Giffords already has a big war chest, and a good organization. She also doesn’t have any well known challengers (yet). But she has royally pi$$ed off many Tucson voters, and she’s worried . . . and rightly so. She ran as a secure borders moderate, but she has voted the Obama party line. Yes on the wasteful “stimulus” bill, yes on the ridiculous and costly cap and trade bill, etc.

Voters here have been paying attention, and they’ve also been out demonstrating against her. If the GOP will support a decent candidate to run against her (something they haven’t done in the past), she’ll lose.

AZCoyote on September 22, 2009 at 8:03 AM

Oh please let it be so!!! Biden is an imbecile but he is an asset to the republicans – to think the democrats trash Sarah Palin and have the gall to subject us to this idiot as VP. We’re finally ridding ourselves of the Kennedy stranglehold we’ve been under for the past 40 years – now if we can get some real conservative govenment majorities without just a slim majority that the democrats can sabotage, we could get some real change after 80 years of democrat domination. Then the ideal scenario is to make Obama a 1-termer like Carter so he can join him in the has-been club and fight it out for the “worst president” title. Now that is hopenchange we can really believe in.

Of course, we know from Glenn Beck that there are worse things than Hopenchange so maybe a Democratic pick-up next year will usher in a cool new era.

Beck’s point is that McShame was a RINO and the GOP would have gone along with his liberal across the aisle Teddy Kennedy loving without any opposition. We would have gone toward socialism at a much slower pace, but we would have gone there. This way, Obama has gone into socialism at light speed and some in the GOP see the problem and are opposing it.

This, gentle people, is why Obama has shuffled so many departments out from under congressional oversight and under “tsars” who answer only to him…. Not all of the lightening paced changes were in the public eye, eh?

Even if Congress flips completely, both houses, and several Governorships, Obama can stonewall any attempts to oversee by saying “Nope, Congress can’t affect my tsars, they’re not subject to congressional oversight”.

He can, in theory, tie this up, once per tsar, until the end of his term, and go on trying to “break through” until the end of his term.

This is rather like a repeat of Carter, only with Nixons’ devious streak.

Replacing Congress and Obama is only a start. Local and state government is infested with Obama Communist who are enslaving Americans on a massive scale. They use fear and Racism to ramp up spending on bloated fire departments, schools and layer after layer of bureaucrats in the police, sheriff, building inspectors, garbage collection, health depts, mass transit, etc. and on and on! Taxed to death ,in my town, one still has to pay the fire dept for a 911 call! A study here showed that it would be cheaper to replace in total every burned house than fund the massive outlays for the fire department! Since the country is broke, we should start all over on government both locally as well as nationally! These government programs grow like a malignant cancer on the taxpayer! It’s time for surgery, chemo, and radiation!

Yes we can! Hold your nose and pony up to the RNC as it is the only way to show these bobbleheads we are taking aim at them. Dems use the RNC fundraising as their thermometer of opposition to their policies, not townhall meetings or public protests. They will ignore these til the cows come home. Flood the RNC with funds and they’ll be sweating bullets. Liberals kicked a$$ in November because Obama raised more money than any political candidate in history. Money talks and lip service walks. Power up people and take back the House and Senate in 2010.
